Interesting... a surface Dwarven smith possibly being named a Paragon? Bianca, I imagine.

She should be a Paragon. Also Dagna. And Cadash.

And Varric.

Really let's just name all the awesome Dwarves Paragons. That's what my headcanon will have. Orzammar will abound with Paragons this generation!!!

I think from the description, it's either Bianca or Dagna (female smith?), but there's also comments about something in Cumberland and possibly something going on in Tevinter.

Question: Am I the only one who's now confused on the history of Crossbow Bianca? In DAI Varric says Bianca designed it, but in Legacy Varric said Gerav designed it.

So I finally got Inquisition here. And got time to play it. And now I'm about 2/3s of the way through the story (I THINK).

I am insanely pleased with playing a female dwarf tank. It's all there. The comic smallness. The sheer joy of beating something three times my size... It's just really, really enjoyable. And then there's also the ridiculous camera angles, which have always pleased me. My favorite one so far was my dwarf walking up to Cullen while he was standing on the wall. It showed the outside of the wall for the first shot. Which... Led to the top of my dwarf's hair being the only thing in view.

I'm playing a pretty snarky dwarf, for a change. The American voice works great for dry humor. I wound up going romance-free (though I did flirt with Sera a bit before going "eh"), and I'm generally fairly merci...

Look, Cole is my dwarf's best friend. So I'm a damn hippy in this game. IF I WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE ANNOYINGLY NICE, MAYBE COLE SHOULDN'T BE SO ADORABLE.

No regrets about going templar first, though I wish there was a chance to be a bit more upset about being dragged into the fade so much, even by my supposed friends-looking-at-you-Solas.

Champion is an amazing spec.

I really want to have a girl's night out at the bar with Harding, Dagna and Bianca. So we can all gossip about Varric.

Varric says that Gerav designed it because he's trying to protect Bianca. She did design it.

Yup. Also, Varric lies. A LOT. Thus the "confusing" origin.

Haha, yup. And given the frame narrative, you could also headcanon (or just assume) that the lie in the story was told to Cass, not Hawke, because he really didn't want crazy stabby punch lady knowing about Bianca's skills.

Or that he lied to Hawke too. Either works. :lol;

Storytellers are suppose to lie! I really enjoy hearing Varric writing banter with Cassandra.

Girl's night with Harding and Dagna, definitely. Not so sure about Bianca, well, except for her knowing more about Varric than the rest of us. :P

Ah that would explain it. I'll headcanon that he lied to Cass. I doubt he'd like to Hawke about this, but maybe swore him/her to secrecy. But Cass might've tried to get Bianca for the Inquisition.

My sister made Cadwgan Cadash, originally meant to resemble Thorin/Richard Armitage but wasn't completely possible due to the maximum limits of the CC, mostly in the forehead. He's got a very strong forehead that couldn't be replicated.

Only his nose was a success.

Overall we feel he ended up looking like the lovechild of Fili/Dean O'Gorman and him!

I guess it could be either of them.  Although I'm not sure if Dagna has done enough to get her name put forward for that.  And I thought people didn't know about the fully extent of Bianca's skills.

I'd kind of like for it to be a new dwarf who shows up in a DLC or future game.  More awesome lady dwarves = more awesomeness in general.

I hope it's not Bianca. I want people to be neutral or positive about dwarf content, and so many people already hate her...I could see her being like a Fiona thing if that happened.

Selfish, meta textual reasons, but there you go.

I thought Bianca's had been kept secret, so I really lean toward Dagna or some new dwarf that they were hinting at later in the conversations.

I like Bianca, but I rather hope it is Dagna. Dagna just makes everyone squee. She is also more of what a paragon sounds like, as Dagna's advances with enchanting is more useful then what Bianca has made.

Here is a question: if a surfacer is technically casteless and casteless can be raised to paragon status, could surface dwarves technically become paragons.

Varric also claimed to have found crossbow!Bianca in a bucket labelled "swag", sooo...

Thank you! Just listened through them with my daughter. I love that he apparently married Rica once he could (that whole paragon thing is handy after all), which means he really was attached to her. I'm starting to think my instinct about Harrowmont was definitely right. And awww, once Bhelen had the throne, he's not a bad brother after all (just because he tries to get you killed first...)

Water under the bridge.

And yeah, I definitely love the idea of Bhelen marrying Rica. I have this headcanon that she assumes she's going to be his concubine... right up until the wedding actually happens and then she's just flabbergasted and overjoyed and all that fun stuff. It's like a twisted little Cinderella story, if Cindy wore some seriously rose-colored glasses and Prince Charming was a psychopathic dictator. psa i don't necessarily think he's a psychopathic dictator

I wonder if she ever caught on or if she's still living in blissful ignorance...

I guess it depends how progressive your King (or the Assembly) is feeling that day. :P

I think surface dwarves and casteless are pretty much the same status?

They might be the same status, but their lives would be vastly different. Take Aeducan, he has never been to surface, but now he must learn to adapt to living on the surface.

Oh, no question, I just meant in terms of how the Assembly would regard them.

In my universe, that parade Josephine threw for Dagna telling Orzammar of her accomplishments (war table mission) was enough to get her name floated as a Paragon.

Her father's still less then pleased though, as the message told me. Probably because of all the public displays that occurred, but still... dude needs to lighten up.

Arguable. One Dwarf managed to defend Orzammar's gates by himself with just a regular crossbow. Imagine if all of Orzammar had repeating crossbows.

Also to answer your question, yes. See Gherlen the Blood-Risen (who became Paragon and King IIRC). Some believe that's just a tale Rica tells the DC, but there's an actual stretch of mountain trail called Gherlen's Pass.

So, are dwarf warriors locked out of the Templar spec? There's a thread right now that makes it sounds as if they might be, but I hadn't heard there were any restrictions on dwarves other than no mages?

Part of me wants to see Shale return as a dwarf since she's the original Cadash.
