Well to be honest the game feels as though it was writing with the expectation that you would be Andratian.  Whenever you express your views that you are not the Herald the game just feels like it is humoring you and goes on with its assumption that you are a religious figure regardless.

That's the best part, watching the script trip over itself! Best comedy of the year.

I'm gonna have to try this "comedy" take on it. For my own sanity.

Tripping over itself just bums me out.

I guess that's why it doesn't bother me as much, LOL. I look at it and I just can't help but smile because it's so damn funny. the love scenes are hilarious, especially in origins unmodded. Female dwarves are different though. They don't look as comical. I'd love me a nice plump dwarven female booty, lol. HARDING.

The game is more about how other people see the Player Character rather than how the Play Character see themselves.

As a human Andrastian, with a knack for magic, arcana, and court intrigue? :D

I've been looking for some screenshots of my Brosca and Aeducan Wardens. None of them are really good, but they'll do I guess?

I love Bhelen, that smart bastard! Played Freyja like a fiddle, he did.

So nice to see all the new dwarves picture, but I'm out of likes for today :/. Oh look, we have unwelcome company in here also.

Well, A certain female Hulk did complain that the dwarf haters didn't come to the dwarf thread, so....

Be careful what you wish for? LOL

Besides, I'm mostly just here to enjoy the dialogue exchange. LOL

That's all I was attempting. It's funny that anyone thinks I'm bullying them.

Also, what I say probably doesn't matter. Apparently someone encouraged to turn on ignore lists.

I have to say though, I expect better from dwarves. A waraxe to the face maybe?  ;)

Lmao, but I also said I didn't want to talk about the Cass stuff so the drama llamas would stay out! Geez, listen to all the things the female hulk says, smh.

Basement Cat, I really love Cadash/Dorian.

It's just a fun dynamic. Dorian is upper class, Cadash is low class criminal. I'm also fond of mage/dwarf pairings for some reason. So it's got some tension there, but it's not like Lavellan or Adaar where the culture clash is as strong.....  you get a fun convo with Dorian as Cadash, where he talks about how Fereldan/Orlais/Marchers have a very limited understanding of dwarves (because remember, in Tevinter, dwarves occupy a much more respected part of society) and so he is excited to crush stereotypes with you. It's just a fun pairing to me.

re: the rest of the convos going on here.

Inquisition is a very limited game no matter what race you play, tbh, and honestly I'm less interested in creating characters that fit perfectly into its limitations and more about playing than ones who can still exist without contradicting what's set up but don't quite fit into what they thought would be the most interesting story.

The crisis of faith themes in the game are just a complete and total mess, imo. I could go on about that for a long time, but for brevity's sake, suffice to say: IMO, they weren't handled well at all, so playing an Andrastrian character who experiences that in the way they intended me to is actually not rewarding to me at all.

I liked Mother Giselle at first but then she kept on insisting on passive-aggressively calling me chosen.  I was like, "Dammit lady!  Didn't we go over this?" and she just smiles and condescendingly tells me that it doesn't matter.  Urgh!

That's where this comes into play :P

It works best as a Circle mage, where both Andrastian or not work great. Not necessarily race specific, but that happens to be human. Then the whole elf/Solas thing comes a good second.

Everything else kind of... falls short. Even human noble, tbh. Contrary to what people think about me, I think the Carta dwarf origin is just as good as Human Noble. It just doesn't help that they're limited by a criminal, lyrium smuggling background. I don't buy that these guys suddenly get all "Rah rah Chantry!" and become the messiah. It's ****** stupid.

I'm not going to defend Bioware and say they integrated Adaar or Cadash perfectly into the story, because you're right, there are some areas where it's so poorly done that its ridiculous/disappointing. I don't think anyone here disagrees on that, although we probably span a spectrum of how strongly we feel about it.

Maybe it's just a different approach to RPIng though, because as long as I can fill in the gaps myself, I can live with it...because I prefer to create my own themes and crisis points for my character within the narrative they give me?

I prefer that in some games. TES, for example.. it's ripe for more sandboxy stuff and from the ground up roleplaying. I expect different from Bioware. A more cohesive and directed narrative..with choices within reason and certain rulesets. Which is part of my annoyance in general. It's not just to pick on dwarves. I'm just annoyed in general.

It works best for anyone who accidentally got the mark on their hand. Have you ever heard of the Hero Journey? Probably not, because if you did every single race/class could fit. I usually follow that plus with my character background in my thoughts when I play. My dwarf refused to get involved, but realized that if he didn't do anything, there will demons running around, so he told Cassandra he would agree to help for now, because things was bigger than him. He knew that, but he had the mark. He even wanted to take up Varric advice, run when things got too serious. He was just this dwarf. Why would people listen to him or even follow him for that matter. He just went with his guts. He believed in the Maker, but wasn't too crazy about it until the "The Dawn Will Come," scene.

In Bioware canon, demons can possess cats, nobody can agree on how lyrium works, Grey Warden's ability to sense the taint is only remembered when its important to the plot, an elven god hangs out in the body of a human, and BloodMageSarcastic!Hawke is the Champion of Kirkwall, not "dirtbag who ruined everything", so I don't understand why CadashQuizzie is a particular hill anyone wants to die on, shrug. These games are a mess, they have always been a mess. They're a fun mess and I love them, but they're a mess.

Why on earth do you think it's unbelievable they can harness the power of the anchor when we weren't even given enough information about the anchor to know what one needs to do to wield it anyway? And it's not like Cadash was all YEAH MY HAND MAGIC LOOK AT ME, Solas is the one who stabilized it and told them how to work it.

By the time Cadash is made leader of the Inquisitor, they're a religious icon who faced the big bad, "died", and came back and no one cares about their background anymore. It is very very clumsily implemented, I"ll agree, but I think it is across the board, not just specifically for that. Shrug.

Unbelievable.. good word.

Yes. I lack Faith on this. Just to keep with the theme of the game. ;) I'd happily be one of those random NPCs who hates this inquisitor. If they're a proper dwarf, they could axe me down and put me out of my misery. I wouldn't want to live in that world anymore.

Asking one or two things to believe can work.. but it's asking too much. It's just tacky.
