Make it happen - I would hit that soooo hard!

Don't judge!!

Hahaha, If I play her further, I fully intend to give her a LI, probably IB because I can't see her respecting Sera or Blackwall enough, but Josie would be amazing too...Granny would be the best knight dueling for her woman ever...but probably IB.

Krem, Harding, Mother Giselle (trans lesbian Giselle that is) a gay Qunari KISA, Sigrun, Stonewall "Granny" Cadash and uh, I guess an elf and another human. That's the da4 I want.

I almost choked to death on my iced tea when I read that.  You, my friend, are the best.  Thank you for remembering trans lesbian Giselle.  Never forget.  Never forget!

I would like to see her pursue each romance to the sex scene, then dump them and move on. Rinse and repeat, gur.  Granny ain't got time for relationships, but she got time for the bedroom.

I'm not talking about a dwarven centric game, but an dwarven protagonist that can actually believe in the stone that make sense with his story. Cadash can claim he believes in the stone, but come on now. He's been on the surface most of his life, he either has to be atheist or believe in the Maker. I could understand Aeducan and Brosca, but even they were casteless, which is no better than a surface dwarf.

Oh, sorry, Cespar, I was replying to StreetMagic, I didn't see your post earlier!!

That could be doable in Tevinter, since dwarves there probably have all kinds of workarounds to allow them to be on the surface and still keep their caste. We already know the emissaries are underground for that reason, but considering the ones in power there might actually want to go the surface, I bet they'd make up all kinds of reasons why they could.

But I definitely did play my Brosca and Aeducan as still following the Stone. My Brosca in particular, because my story for her was that she was especially sensitive to the Stone even though she was supposed to be a "pollutant" to it.

Never forget trans lesbian Mother Giselle! So important.

Brilliant. And I already did that with my Lavellan (Cullen, Blackwall, Solas and she's ending up with Josie...'twas beauty that tamed the beast etc) so I know how to do that at this point pretty well. I have so many monstrous OCs.

Alright everyone, I'd like to thank you all for contributing, but the thread has officially been won by veeia on behalf of Stonewall "Granny" Cadash.  You can all go home.  Thanks for your participation.  It will not get any damn cooler than this, so we might as well all stop now while we're ahead.

All joking aside, can we PLEASE get Granny as an NPC companion in DA 4?  PLEASE!?!?  I simply must get to experience this woman on my own.

Hell, I'd like to voice her :P

The only dwarf-centric Dragon Age game anyone is ever likely to see is the tabletop I want to run about dwarf opera and murder :D .

Not that I wouldn't love such a thing, but given that only 5% of players ever played as dwarves in DAO, I'm still pleasantly surprised that we got them back as a playable race.

Always wanted that voice for my lady Brosca, but it was forever ruined by the line which shall not be repeated.  *Hint - it deals with ladders......*

Oh yea that could work out if our hero is working directly under someone or part of a military group, which would be awesome.

I usually play as a dwarf who believes in the Maker, which makes for good storytelling for me. I can add a lot of drama in my fanfic. Although my Aeducan believed in the stone, which is my canon. I wouldn't mind trying out a stone believer.

Well, speaking as someone who is female but regularly plays males... don't worry about "can't think like a man"; people are individuals and while we can certainly fit into gender stereotypes, don't focus on playing a man "right," because, strictly speaking, there is no one "right" way to play a man, just as there isn't one "right" way to play a woman. Play a character you think is interesting who happens to be male. Do you want him to be snarky? Sweet? Polite? Direct? Savvy? Absentminded? Religious? Agnostic? Think of general traits you would find appealing, and what you think as far as a personality goes, you would like to see interact with Cassandra in a romance. Myself, I went for the somewhat snarky but overall chill dude who never knew for sure if he was truly a Herald, but let people believe in what gave them hope, and tried to do what was right... But also wasn't afraid to use some underhanded approaches to get resources or help.

I got an Xbox Controller for my PC and to learn the controls, I went through a new game tutorial, so I figured that would be a fun time to try to make a cranky grandma mob boss.

^Good advice! Whenever I play a male character, I just channel Duke Nukem. Back in the days where women protagonists weren't common and it was just normal to play as a man, Duke Nukem was my absolute favorite character of all time. I just loved his attitude problem, that cigar and shameless leering, and his quips. Kinda like Bruce Willis in Die Hard. So if I get around to making a male character, it's going to be Duke Nukem in Thedas. =D

Lmao, okay, I will. It will be done. Maybe Tishina can lend her voice talents so we can have her at appropriate swear levels.

Re: playing as a dude. Hrm, do you usually do a character more like yourself? I've never found that I could so what id actually do in a game so self-inserts never work. I just come up with fun character concepts and go with it so gender doesn't matter as much. I mean I prefer to play female (because so many of the stories I want to tell are about women), but I have two male Quizzies right now. Olim is a dirtbag rascal with a secretly pious heart and tragic past and Big Tex is an insufferable dirty southerner who is affable and kind but arrogant and patronizing. They could be men or women, but they ended up men because I wanted to play a male character at the time...altho I suppose Big Tex wouldn't work quite a well as a woman, but that's only because he was conceived as a loving parody of "Texan masculinity", lmao.

I think you just have to find a character idea you like, and something that hooks you emotionally. Think of their good traits and why people will like them and where they will fail and make people dislike them, and eventually you'll probably have someone you think is interesting and you'll have feelings for them and you'll be at your screen yelling NO YOU IDIOT STOP MAKING THE SAME MISTAKES OVER AND OVER or cooing over them because they took a big risk and it paid off and you're so proud and it won't matter if they're male or female because they'll be real and exciting to you and then you will only have the problem of "how do I not talk constantly to people about my OCs"

Speaking of the Stone, I thought I'd share this for anyone who was curious. Although this probably isn't new information to most people in this thread, I noticed from an earlier thread where Gaider went into the dwarven belief system:

Well, the dwarves don't give much credence to the idea of gods to begin with. To them, the Stone is the closest they come -- it is all around them, and when they say they are the Children of the Stone they mean that literally. Like some ancient myths in our world claim that humanity was formed from clay, the dwarves believe that they are quite literally born of the stone. When someone dies, their spirit returns to the stone. Those who are worthy make the stone stronger, while those who are unworthy make the stone weaker. An important concept in a world where the strength of the roof over your head determines not only your own surviveability but also that of your family and community. The most worthy, the Paragons, are those who add the most to the Stone when they die. Thus they are worthy of reverance, and held up as an ideal for other dwarves to aspire to.

Much like the elven myths, however, the dwarven notion of the Stone -- while anthropomorphized considerably into a sort-of deity, not surprising considering the idea that the rock around the dwarves gives them everything they exist in -- doesn't contradict the idea that a creator might have created the Stone itself. They just don't believe that. The Stone is right there, around them and supporting them, and some creator...? Who is such a being to the dwarves?

Ooh, thanks for that! I had not seen that post. I enjoy reading Gaider's commentary on stuff like that because he provides the kind of clarity that we don't always find from other game sources.

Hey there fellow Dwarves. Anyone here able to give me some advice on how to download a mod properly without tearing my beard out in frustration because I'm too daft to understand what to do with these fancy gadgets the younglings use these days?

I linked to the thread I made which itself has links to the mods in question.

For the visible console commands download the file first, then head to your my documents folder , you should have a bioware folder then, open it up and head into dragon age. Now you should have a packages folder, open it and then core. You should have 2 folders, data and override throw the files contained in the zip into the data directory and then as long as you have the console enabled it should pop up.

For the add item mod, open up the zip and take the 2 additem files and put it into the override folder you saw earlier. That is all there is to installing it, using it is another matter.

But if you don't have the console enabled it won't do squat, so I suggest taking a look here http://dragonage.wik...nsole_(Origins)for which way you wish to enable it.
