I knoooow!
I give my mages mostly golden or orange eyes, to signifying their mageness lol.... it's a classic trope, but I think it's a hot one

The reason for creating a lady Cadash for my first playthrough is that I really missed dwarven ladies, since there were none in DA2 (grrr).
Welcome! And I know, right? I specifically remember when they posted that picture of their "redesign" for all the races prior to DA2's release. And I cannot find the source for this it might have been one of those audio interviews instead, BUT they did describe their vision for each of the races. The elves were designed to be long and lithe-like marathon runners, right? The dwarven females design were inspired by the "roller derby gals." I was so inspired I wanted to make fan art of my dwarf in roller skates so I waited for DA2 to see the new models and ... and ... nothing. I wasted so much time looking for them in-game until it was confirmed they weren't present. Not gonna lie, this and finding out after release that Varric wasn't going to be available as a romance after all -- it took the wind out of my sails. I didn't become a hater or anything. Just let down enough to start unsubscribing to DA news, muted their feed on facebook, and stopped visiting BSN. I was pretty much done with the franchise, I really was until a friend reached out to me with the news that dwarves were going to be a playable race again. (!)
Atrast vala, dwarf thread.
The only dwarf-only equipment I have come across are the Legion and Carta Assassin armor. Have any of you by chance come across the Carta Chief's armor as a player equipment item? I am into that fur mantle.
Oh, wow! I don't remember seeing that outfit. Good eye. And unfortunately, no, I don't think that's available. As far as I can tell, all the races are stuck with the three or four generic designs (the short trenchcoat, the long trenchcoat, and the long swashbuckler type coat, the dragon-inquisitor type armor they use in promos). And then there's the race specific armor that each can get -- humans get orlesian stuff, elves get dalish/keeper looking type of stuff, and dwarves get legion of the dead and the carta armor. (I've yet to see the carta schematic so I don't know what it looks like once crafted.)
Speaking of unobtainable armor, I saw this dwarf female in Val Royeaux. "Wait, WAIT, I'll give you all my gold if you give me your outfit right now! Wait! WAaaaaaaaAAAIT!"
I hope they patch in more armors eventually like they did in previous games. Our choices are pretty limited as they are.
Popping in real quick to share the completed flats:
I wanted to color this all today, but it seems like today all my clients who were taking a while to update me on their projects have decided to respond with updates. Ha, figures. Sadly, work art must come first before artwork. ;P I'll see if I can get a chance to do some of the shading and touch-ups later.
I have to agree about his eyes. I'm having some trouble in the CC with getting the color right, but manipulating the shapes is fun.
I was the same with getting the colour right, gave up in the end, it would always turn out far brighter than I expected so I started just experimenting with the presents to find what would fit each of my specific characters. Ended up with plain old brown for Skraal, I had hoped to try to find a stone grey but it grew on me.

Well, if it's any consolation, he looks great with that eye color.

Okay Ti, I am going to attempt to make two Dwarves...one male and one female...let's see how horrible I am with making Dwarves, lol! Who knows maybe my characters won't be too fuggly.

Woohooo! With any luck, another dwarven convert!
My female dwarven rogue...

Edit: I should add, I think of the dwarf thread as the Addams family of the DAI world; everyone is uniquely beautiful here.

Cheers, in most scenes the eyes are too dark anyway and what little light they give, giving me roughly the desired shade. The brown really stands out in that last scene chatting with Sera due to the Taverns warm lighting. Usually it comes across like this.

I find the male Dwarven CC surprisingly usable, there are a couple head shapes that work really well and they work properly with beards too! Make sure you test voice on a male Dwarf though, there seems to be some kind of glitch where the shape you originally see isn't what the sliders are giving you and when you test voice the eyes adjust and are much bigger than they appear.
my problem is i really dont like how any of the beards look in this game so sadly I get stubble dwarf and not a bearded one
I also really wish I had a body scar/+chest hair option its so weird to see my dwarf look like a ken doll in dorian romance scene
(and I like to imagine my dwarf is pretty heavily scarred)
also I swear with all the hints in this game that id be surprised if there ISNT a "SOILENT LYRIUM IS DWARVES" (well dwarven spirits or whatever) thing going on with the stone/lyrium/dwarf/cut off from the fade thing seriously just look at what cole says here

I'll have to find some time to upload the few screens I took of my dwarf....oddly enough he looks somewhat similar to the default "John Shepard" of ME.

Ooo thanks for the warnings! I was at first a little terrified by the default male dwarfs, but after I hacked the nose down to an imaginable level...everything didn't look too bad. I still don't really like any of the hair for the dwarves so I just went with the "John Shepard" haircut.
So which class is your favorite??
Xavier is a tempest dagger rogue, loooooove flask of fire
I really really really want to get an archer rogue going, so I was thinking of shelving Xavier for a while, making an elf
I can't help it! I love elves as much as I love dwarves!
The eye colour leads to very funny results outside of the chargen: my dwarf is fine (I picked a very light colour, so no surprises), but my Lavellan looks like a lemur with eyes made of kryptonite.

Traitor! Burn the knife ears! J/k
Champion all the way for me, Dwarven champions, no fancy gimmicks or powers just a determination to not fall down and toughest SOB's in the game. I'll be trying to solo all bar 1 of the dragons with him, have to at least kill 1 with Bull or he'll feel left out.
I know! My other dwarf is an SnS champion. Loooooooooooove it! Pop guard, go in, beat the crap outta everything! Plus that magic resistance.....
Well I can always make an archer dwarf........play second fiddle to Varric, cuz of Bianca
My Dwarves stare daggers into Varric's back after they first meet him... thinking 'I want that crossbow'
Well my British Cespar for my Aeducan's canon is an Archer Artificer. I love that class so much
.
My American Cespar for Brosca is going to be a Two-handed Templar of course. I always favored the Paladin class in Neverwinter Night 2. ![]()
S+S templar is way more fun than it should be with the charging bull>wrath of heavens+spell purge combo
My Dwarves stare daggers into Varric's back after they first meet him... thinking 'I want that crossbow'
This! I mean.... how can any archer worth their salt compete against that crossbow! I want that!
I forgot about dwarven archers.... Varric, let us not forget the amazing Scout Harding......
Whelp. I'm off to make another toon lol........
Interesting. Lyrium is a mineral that is found within the earth (stone) and dwarves believe they came from the stone....
Lyrium is alive somehow....
Very interesting.
Ok, that's really interesting. It sounds to me like Lyrium contains within it something that the Dwarves lost. What could it be?

If I had to hazard a guess and it is a fairly wild flung theory, Dwarfs once had powerful magic and were ripe for possession and abusing their power. Their solution rather than circles was to cleave their race from magic, leaving them empty shells of what they once were, a side effect of this being that their magical essence, part of their soul bled out from them into what surrounds them, the stone, becoming a new small Lyrium growth, very faint and very weak, barely a spark.
The effects from this still linger and when a new Dwarf is born underground, that part of their soul bleeds out somewhere into the stone creating new Lyrium, on the surface it finds itself not trapped by the stone and evaporates or becomes a feast for spirits where the veil is weak perhaps. Upon a Dwarf dying what remains of their soul seeks out that missing portion, when finding it, strengthening and bolstering that Lyrium growth, causing it to grow and spread, giving it the spark it needs to live.
This would give Templars, who chug Lyrium the old song live Dwarves that Cole comments on, Lyrium singing out to be reunited with it's match. Also would explain Dwarves resistance to Lyrium as they have a buffer from it's effects with the missing portion of their essence. Lends strength to the belief or returning to the stone, strengthening it and finally allows Lyrium to be influenced by the blight, where it uses a living victim as it's broodmother.
Had some time to slap down some base gradient shades. Just the foundation, still need to do the higher contrast shades, highlights, and possibly some textures if I feel like it'll work for this piece. A good way along now, though.
Gotta hop on a game development meeting now though, so I'll have to weigh in on the dwarves-lyrium stuff later. ;P

Wow, that's an awesome theory!
Well, began my archer rogue, Ka'nah.
Archery is awesome! I mean, I tinkere withi t in previous games, but it's finally a bit faster than it was in Origins.
Just took out the mages in Witchwood. Picked most of em off before Cass even got to em
Now, to romance..... that is the question......
It'll probably be Bull.
