I don't know how I feel about this...
Sure, Dwarven women having beards was fine in Tolkien, and it was never really made clear if it was true or just a wild rumour, since we never saw any dwarven women? I don't even see a problem with it at all, since it makes them stand out from the other races and it's a cool little racial quirk.
I guess my real issue is the Bioware devs saying, "screw it" and making that now a part of the Dragon Age lore as well. It seems really jarring and out of place? When they retconned the Qunari with horns, the handwave made sense because we only ever really saw Sten in Origins, along with a half-dozen other Qunari npcs and their entire race was meant to be shrouded in myth anyway?
But you'd think that if (some) Dwarf chicks had beards, this is something that'd have been mentioned way, way before this?
If it's not common for female dwarves to have facial hair (they don't have "beards" unless you consider fuzz to be beards), then it isn't something that necessarily needs to be mentioned. Female dwarf facial hair could easily be something that most dwarven women don't naturally have and/or is usually shaven away. That is actually how it is with real life humans.

I can't get why they'd want to go for MORE similarity to Tolkein's dwarves instead of less, but I guess there's nothing wrong with extra options. I won't be giving my female dwarves beards, however.
What do you guys think of Ahlam for a f!dwarf name?
I rather like that. Accent on which syllable?

I usually go with the default name
Incidentally, the apparent default name for the female dwarven inquisitor was (accidentally) shown in the stream today. It is Malika.

@Tishina
Looks like the accent's on the second syllable.

Um, Zhenya's the familiar form of an actual Russian name (Evgeniya - probably incorrectly transliterated), but most of the time I use the feminine short forms of Russian adjectives, like Tishina = silence (a name I gave one of my rogues) or nouns, Koshka = cat (another rogue). So they aren't real names. I started doing this when I was playing MMORPGs heavily and didn't want to keep thinking up a set of real new names every time my friends decided to shift servers. I grab my dictionaries and find something I like.

It's really a very minor alteration in the grand scheme of things: Qunari are now on their second design iteration, and DA:I will introduce the third design of the Elves - adding a little bit of stubble to lady-dorfs is hardly lore-breaking. I tend to think of it as a little homage to Tolkien - and it's a feature that I did see requested/joked about way back when Origins came out.
In any case, if you don't want to have stubble, then don't add it in CC.

Someone should edit this page on the wiki with the dwarven female name:
http://dragonage.wik.../The_Inquisitor

(happens at about 11:34 ish)
Done, and done. I totally blanked when I first saw the stream, but now it's in there, for all to see! Mwahahahahahah! ... *cough*

I won't use em, but I am glad they were added. Especially because it further makes them a distinct race. It really separates them from elves, who (like in DA:O), can't have beards at all no matter the gender. Plus more options are more options

Females are much slimmer than I thought they'd be. So I can play a rogue without laughing.
What you don't like roly poly roguie? lol, im going to miss my round and down female dwarves from origins, they were more buxom than any other race, im glad to see the arms on the dwarves dont seem to be as freakishly long as they were in origins.

I'm probably just gonna go with Arya Stark Cadash. Was one of the first female dwarf names we saw for Inquisition, (used to think it was the default actually) and I've since grown fond of it. :S

now i have to find that thread with all the names of the inquisitors i had imagined. I think the dwarf one was Cory or Corra Cadash, i tend to try and use the same first letter of the last name. ![]()

Personally, I favor Brosca because I think making the Dwarf Commoner a Paragon could make the perception of the casteless and lower classes better.
