I like Varric, but I didn't get the sense of him as the inquisitor's friend the way he was with Hawke. I'd rather see them go with Harding or someone completely new who isn't stereotyped. Oghren did not exactly give people the best impression of dwarves in the first game, and pretty much every dwarf who has been a PC or companion except him and the Aeducan PC have been criminally connected (and he and the Aeducan PC were both disgraced.)
I kind of liked this about Varric. I think it was cool to see Varric through a different character's eyes. I didn't feel the same connection to him in DA: I, but that's kind of okay in my eyes. He was Hawke's bff. He likes the Quizzie, but he has a different relationship with him/her.
Agreed with everything you say about Oghren.
I stand corrected, mostly because I never made it all the way through DAA and tend to think of it separate from DAO and DA2. Sigrun definitely rocked, even if her appearance was pretty brief compared to DAO itself.
Edited: And I was pointing out that at least in DAO, we had more dwarf companion time available than elven, especially if you count Shale. Since then, yes, dwarves have gotten the short end of the stick, even though I'm convinced the lower player stats for dwarves has to do with design and story problems that steer people away from them. Like dangling feet...
I was just messing with you. The Divine Sigrun cannot be ignored!
Poor Sigrun, it's a shame she's so often overlooked and forgotten.
And even the game screws her over, because for some reason, she's built like a warrior, wears armour and is focussed on strength, yet she's classed as being a rogue? It's a constant pain to have to get a respec tome for her before you get her, just so you can build her properly..
Agreed. It was really a shame that she was relegated to an expansion because she had a ton of potential. I also rebuild her right away, but it's also to make sure that she gets lockpicking right from the jump (why does the game give us rogues who aren't spec'd for lockpicking?!?)
