I have a question fellow dwarf fans. How would you guys feel if they took the dwarves away in the next game, and had only human, elves, and qunari? I was reading in another thread that the race thing could be a experiment, and the one with the lowest could be kicked to the curb. I would be mad, but I'm so into the lore of the world and fan that I would still play, but I don't know. I really missed playing a dwarf in DA:2.

You know, I would play a human only, an elf only, a qunari only or a dwarf only game but if they kick out a race like the dwarfs just because they're the least played I think I'd pass. I would be disappointed but understand if they narrowed the choice to one race for story reasons like in DA2 but to lose just one race just comes across as too lazy for me.

I don't think we should overreact to rumors. Dwarves have been a pretty central part of the game, and there's obviously some important dwarf-centric stuff going on (plus Dagna and Harding, who's been a big success, I think.) Sounds to me like someone just wanted to get people stirred up. Besides, by race-gating a couple of the most popular romances, they've automatically skewed the numbers in the direction of those races. And with dwarves only having two classes instead of three, raw numbers don't really mean that much. I actually see a much more difficult story based problem for them to keep the qunari simply due to the fact that any qunari PC has to belong to a rather tiny number of Tal-vashoth or Vashoth.

Yea I think dwarves are here to stay, but I'm just thinking of "what ifs." if we're indeed heading north, I think they'll restore origins story. That'll seem like a perfect opportunity to really get into the feel of the north. Can you imagining choosing between a Kal-Sharok dwarf or representer of the ambassadoria.

Two more pictures of Ezarae Cadash: now with half-decent lighting! :P

ScreenshotWin32_0003_Final.png

ScreenshotWin32_0004_Final.png

Also, a short dwarf-based tale of not that long ago...

Harding: You aren't squeamish about the undead, are you?

Ezarae: They're just corpses with spirits in them. ;)

Harding: ...

*fifteen minutes later*

Ezarae: MAKER'S ASS! How many bodies can there be in one backwater pissbowl? That's it - as soon as we're out of here, we're going to the desert! At least there I can take ten paces without stepping into neck-deep water!

*snicker* I like her combination of hair and eye color, btw. And I need to remember that that hair style looks pretty good on a dwarven face (looked horrible on my Dalish).

Dwarves are awesome. Started with a Qunari warrior but changed to female dwarf after some hours in-game. And she really makes a great job as twohander reaver who smashes all these big enemies. Size doesn't matter if you can hit like a truck.

Only race with which I could use that hair style. Really diggin' it.

Actually, I do have a Dalish that I like that hair style on, but she has some other CC problems (just not enough for me to start her over.) But yeah, some of the hair styles are hard to use on anyone.

I contemplated a Dalish play through and then saw their body model, I cannot in good conscience play a character that looks like a nug could tackle >.>.

All the hairs, including beards can be such a pain. Little to no movement with the face shape, so if you narrow the jawline or cheeks, instant gap. Increase the forehead size or cause it to sit further back, gap or clipping. I seriously wonder how much testing they did do with the CC.

I will admit the hairstyle before the mullet looks good on the Dalish though, with the narrower face the hair looks swept well and like it sits on the ear.

I have real issues with the Dalish looking like famine victims (looking at my Dalish warrior running around Skyhold is literally painful to me), but they did the same thing to male and female Dalish, so at least they were consistent. I just headcannon that there's something in their genetics that make their muscles far more effective than other races by size. My Dalish warrior looks believable in armor, at least, but those ugly pajamas forces the body model back in your face.

I saw a joke recently about how you know you're playing a BW game, and it had to do with the awfulness of the hair styles...

I began a new elf mage...till a poster pointed out how freakin twiggy elves look, so by the time I got to Haven, I kept looking at her arms, ended up scrapping my new elf mage. THOSE ARMS!

Noodle arms. *gigglesnort*

It's not just the arms, either. The whole body is like a bean pole... minus the height, of course. :P

Lovely Inquisitor Kimarous , I see Varric and his chest hair manage to get into the frame too, there is no escaping the Paragon of manliness ;)

Let's not go wild on rumours, but if dwarves were to be a non playable race again I guess I would dye my beard white with ashes as a sign of mourning and go on write the entire Bioware Staff in my book of grudges, but still I would play the game because I like the world of Dragon Age.

And I don't see the dwarves getting out of the pictures, there are even events in Inquisition that make me hope for some Orzammar and Deep Road action in a future game (Red Lyrium + Bianca arc + Warden story).

In the Blackwall thread, it was discovered that there's a mod that can turn off Blackwall's beard (as well as remove Gaspard's mask). When you look at Blackwall, it becomes apparent that his jaw/chin was scaled back so it wouldn't interfere with the beard. It seems like it's one or the other for everyone -- face exactly how you want it, but beard doesn't look right or magnificent beard and hope nobody asks you to shave. =p

I'd be upset if they made dwarves non-playable again, but that alone wouldn't make me jettison the DA game series. Another single-race game probably would, however. For me, a single race game just doesn't have much replayability for the price and the effort of learning the combat system and controls (especially when their family history is as tightly defined as a Hawke, for instance,) and if that race is human, the most likely one, meh. To me, fantasy-with-magic RPGs almost by definition mean you get to play non-human races.

Here's an image dump of Thova (or Judi Dench's "M" =p). I'm 3/4th through the game now. Just need to do "What Pride Hath Wrought" and then head into the final battle. I need to finish all 10 dragons first. I don't enjoy killing dragons. I feel bad for them, but with the whole dragon theme I've got going on (the throne, IB, etc), might as well go the extra distance with the roleplay. I'm not doing the shards though. If I trip over one, I'll pick it up, but I am not climbing anything, forget it. There's just too damn many of them.

THOVA

I went back to my plan of trying to get the romance scene with Josie and Granny since my graphics card is working again, but HORRIBLE NEWS. All of Granny's wrinkles are GONE she looks like a teenage dirtbag instead of a badass grandma I"m so upset. The way the complexions render on lower graphics settings is weird, so I guess I actually choose one that rendered as "older lady" on the lowest settings despite not being the actual wrinkled skin one.  BOOOOO. Now I guess I'll try to remake her? Glad I only played like 5 hours on that save.

Oh also I put vallaslin on a dwarf in the CC because I CAN and not having a good reason to do something never stopped me before so.

Kind of thinking I might later play around with making new tattoos, although I'm not 100% sure what I'd put.  Probably more tats that echo the architectural styles of dwarven cities etc.

Feel free to steal her! The Judi Dench stuff was only inspired after I started rustling through the prison cells in Haven. I discovered a bunch of paperwork instead of loot and I realized that it was a perfect excuse to play a broad with a head crammed full of knowledge. My other characters, Maude and Vera, were taken from Bea Arthur's roles ("And then there's Maude and then there's Maude ...").
