Those are gnomes. Don't ever compare the two near dwarves, they really don't like it...

"Do I look like I spend my entire day sitting around, fishing near lily ponds, watching my beard grow while I wear a dopey hat? No! I build giant stone bridges across rivers of lava, while cultivating facial hair that you could lose a badger in, whilst wearing a helmet!"

Gnomes are like bingo halls and dwarves are like biker bars...

The german name for them is "Gartenzwerg" - "garden dwarf". Everbody else probably noticed the disgrace that this comparison heaped upon the awesome dwarves and promptly changed it to gnomes! :D

That is awesome and one of the many reasons I need to learn German! Although it's funny that while they started out as being somewhat like dwarves, they ended up being known for having magic, something that all other dwarves lack?

Enchantment?

Same in french, these "things" are called "nain de jardin" (garden dwarf), so the worst insult you could come up with for a dwarf would be "lawn ornament" rather than "Bronto *ss licker".

LOL @ eavesdropping elf. You should pop in the Tevinter thread TEWR. Haven't seen you talk about them much.

Edit: You could RP as a member of the Ambassadoria.

I role play the dwarves that are walking around Skyhold, members of the Carta that I brought into the inquisition. *Random role playing idea.*

Now I want to reply DAO, and have the hair style that Leske has. *Sigh.*

You'll be alright. Besides mundane Altus, Dwarves are the only non-mages with status in the Imperium.

Actually Dwarf thread and Tevinter thread should form an alliance tbh.

Oh that much I know. The Ambassadoria happen to advise on trade contracts and are treated as honored emissaries. It's more along the lines of how the Ambassadoria itself functions within Tevinter politics that I would need more info on (supposedly they're more like lobbyists then anything else, according to the wiki).

I suppose though an alliance of sorts between Tevinter and Orzammar led by my DN could go a long way -- provided there's caution involved. Dwarves may be respected, but Tevinter can be sinister (though this is true of other nations)

It may or may not have anything to do with the Lyrium that they can acquire. That would put in mages/Templars in the pockets of the dwarves. They pretty much hold the foundation of the balance of Thedas, but no one is willing to help them in the deep road. Hopefully, arrangements can be made if we do go to Tevinter.

You would need to restore the relationship between Kal-Sharok and Orzammar, before you move on to Tevinter and Orzammar. I don't think the Kal-Sharok dwarves will appreciate Tevinter trading with their enemies. That would hurt Tevinter relationship with the dwarves near them than ones that are farther away. I would want to keep my alliances near.

"But I'm still on your mind? You're so sweet Leske."

I found this to be especially funny with a female Brosca, like he's also implying she's no a lady either. =p

Xanthos Aeducan has taken steps to rekindle the relationship between the two nations:

first by discussing trade contracts between them that Endrin, in his traditionalist folly, put aside. Then he sent Renvil Harrowmont as an ambassador. Then he began to fund an expedition to Kal-Sharok (to say nothing of Nasir's inside information on what happened with Kal-Sharok and the Venatori). This was all within the first three years of his reign, in fact (five at most. I dunno. Maybe even less then three. While I always knew Xanthos would rekindle the relationship between the two I had never given it a full examination beyond trade and Renvil, primarily because we knew so little about Kal-Sharok).

Not that this leads to a perfect relationship, but it's a start.

*stands up*

Greetings to the old allies of the Imperium. As a Magister and member of the Magisterium I welcome you to take part in negotiations between the Dwarven kingdoms and Tevinter Imperium. The Imperium sees that the convergion of Orzammar and Kal-Sharok would benefit all parties, Imperium included. Topside lyrium trade should be in the hands of the Imperium and for that we are willing to provide our allies with substantial military support in reclaiming the Deep Roads and old Thaigs. If southern nations or the Chantry should threaten Orzammar with military force for their trade decision Tevinter Imperium is willing to show both economical and military support to counter their threats too.

Despite malign gossip, the Imperium will stand for its allies. Always.

Lords and ladies of the Assembly. I greet you all bearing gifts of the finest Stone carved from the 100 Pillars as is long standing custom. May it bring prosperity and fortune to the future King fortunate enough to bear a crown of it's making. It is no Paragon's Crown, but my only hope is that the honoring of tradition is enough in these troubled times.

We must renew our ancient alliance. I am told you wish to retake Caradin's Cross for your glorious underground Empire. With this renewal I pledge a contingent of the finest Battlemages in the Imperium under the request that peace talks with Kal-Sharok begin effective immediately. As Thedas is divided to infighting so too are the Dwarven Kingdoms. This profits no one. Especially when the Qunari threaten all of the known world.

I humbly thank you all for your time. A toast to victory as we embark on our expedition into Aeducan Thaig tomorrow! May the Maker and the Stone watch and safeguard us!

*Magister-General Euandros Castelliani raises mug of Dwarven Ale and drinks before sitting down*

I dunno, I work for a few hours and apparently the imperium is trying to stake a claim to us. I'm a Freemarcher, thanks. The imperium can stay in its own borders :P

Did I mention a monthly delivery of the best wines from the Imperium for the members of the Assembly, free of charge, should we come to agreement over the lyrium trade?

You should love Tevinter. We're petitioning Orzammar and Kal-Sharok for the creation of a 'Surfacer' Caste. You may end up a noble as well as a citizen of the Imperium if things go as planned.
