Did I mention a monthly delivery of the best wines from the Imperium for the members of the Assembly, free of charge, should we come to agreement over the lyrium trade?

Assembly doesn't control the carta's lyrium trade though, Salroka, and we're Cadashes.

You should love Tevinter. We're petitioning Orzammar and Kal-Sharok for the creation of a 'Surfacer' Caste. You may end up a noble as well as a citizen of the Imperium if things go as planned.

Noble and citizen of the Imperium might be a good bribe, though I don't think there's a snowball's chance in h**l of them elevating non-mages without the proper ancestry into the nobility. Noble of Orzammar, pfff. See Varric's opinion in DA2, that sums up my Zhenya and Reska's opinion of Orzammar's noble caste.

Cadash be warrior/noble caste tbh. Your lyrium smuggling would be legal and you could get a miner caste to do all the heavy lifting all the while still living topside. Don't see what the problem is.

Our lyrium smuggling would be regulated by the treaties and contracts signed by the Assembly. Really cuts into profits, you know.

hehehehe! D**n straight. I'm still waiting to hear what Tevinter could offer us to make it worth our while to monopolize our business (and honk off every other country in Thedas at dwarves).

And on another note, the patch apparently fixed the problem with tattooed hair on the shaved sides in the hair styles.

C'mon. You serious right now? Y'all are acting like the Ambassadoria ain't a thing. It's cool if you want to be second class citizens to the other human nations and all. Hopefully TEWR erm I mean King Aeducan will set y'all straight.

Except he's not our king, you know. We're not from Orzammar; they don't recognize us, we don't recognize them. Rezka and Zhenya are not in Tevinter and don't expect to be there any time soon. Noble caste, wine, citizenship in a distant country (and not even Altus class), you're not selling it yet.

I don't drink wine. I'm a Legionnaire as well as a magister. Ale imported from the Anderfells is more my thing. And you'd be stupid to think that there's no benefits to being acknowledged by the Assembly and the Shaperate. But, by all means keep doing your thing.

Okay, this has just gotten way too ****** nerdy for me.  But I will rejoin when we go back to just talking about how awesome dwarves (particularly ours) are and sharing pictures of said awesome dwarves.

Some surface dwarves are closer to the surface than the traditional ways of being recognized by the shaperate, and such. Look at Brosca! He was still living amount the Orzammar dwarves, but he became something much better on the surface than being in Orzammar.

The shaperate wanted him back to because of his accomplishments. The dwarves will still need to prove themselves with the Tevinter alliance.

I'm all for talking about awesome dwarves. Though sadly, I spoke too soon about the tattooed hair. It only vanishes with some face shapes, sigh. I just went through every non-shaved-head hairstyle and everyone except 3 or 4 either had tattooed hair OR the hair clipped through the ears (or made my new dwarf look too masculine.)

It's true, very few Cadash members will be loyal to the current king of Orzammar, though a large portion of the Carta operates under my jurisdiction.

Logistically, Orzammar can't afford to recognize the surfacers -- at least as members of their house, if the House still exists in Orzammar. And possible even if it doesn't -- because then that means we would have to pay kin debts up the ass for families. It's not that I don't want them to be respected, as I do. They are the lifeline of Orzammar. To deny them respect yet use them for our own survival is hypocritical.

There is a solution.... somewhere. But I am unsure of what it is. Perhaps the surfacer caste would be the solution, if it didn't come with the drawback of "your kin debts must be paid". I must give it some thought.

Playing with the CC tonight; meet Vetra:

Spoiler

I really like her, but I'm starting to wonder whether I have a problem with the complexions. I intentionally picked one that appeared to be the oldest...

It'd perhaps be better to talk with the Dwarven Merchant's Guild rather then the Carta, as they might be more amenable to your proposals -- specifically those among the kalnas, though they would still negotiate.

And even then, there might still be some overlap between the DMG and the Carta, as the two operate similarly.

 <3  Olwaye greatly approves.

This is one very seductive dwarf lady. But true she doesn't look that old to me.

And who invinted these Tevinter guys here? The Carta doesn't do alliances, we might consider a formal contract, we are after all legitimate business dwarves. :D

What's all that nonsense about being recognize by Orzammar, I am perfectly happy not being recognize, that is sort of the point in our line of business.

Plus if they want to pay in wine, they are sorley lacking insight in dwarf psychology, are they not familiar with the old dwarven song about gold , it goes :

Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!

Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!

Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!

Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!

Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!Gold!

Don't forget that dwarves in Tevinter are recognized as something beyond a carta or merchant dwarf. The hold more power and influence than the dwarves in Southern Thedas. I think all of us here wants more dwarven related stories, which could be heavily dosages of story for them in Tevinter.
