Oh! I forgot one of the most defining moments of her arc. She spared Loghain and exiles Alistair, even though she loves him. That whole scene is so painful. Brosca is so tired of death, so tired of seeing people with good intentions become twisted because their lives have led them there...after seeing Leske die, and the events with the Dalish...she wants to give Loghain the same chance she got. So when Alistair starts talking about only honorable people in the grey wardens (totally ignoring her past) and puts his desire for revenge in front of their goal, she snaps. I think she's really yelling at her former self, not him.

But I do hc that after the arch demon is defeated, she remembers how her hard exterior was softened by a boy who stood in a field of death and found a beautiful flower and gave it to her. So she goes off to find him, and help him through his bitter misery like he helped her.

Argh, so many Brosca X Alistair feels. :P

Aye, I had completely forgotten about the elves redesign in DA2 because I actually preferred it to their "small humans with pointy ears" look in DAO, but I guess that just goes to show that it really all comes down to personal preference.

As for fem!Dwarf stubble, why not lorebreaking I suppose, the sudden announcement of it so close to launch, with so few options, makes me wonder if it's not just a last minute addition? But yeah, since I don't have to use it, I don't have to and won't bedrudge those who do, same with those who don't opt to use tattoos on the Dalish Elf (which probably would be more lorebreaking).

Apologies for way overanalysing and nitpicking this!

No apologies are necessary: these are the Bioware Forums, after all, and compared to the outrage that followed the reveal of Qunari hair your minor nitpicking pales in comparison.  :D

It does seem a little tacked on, I suppose - and I would have preferred a full, luxurious beard option for my femDwarf Quizzie - I would have called her Cheery, and only the chosen few would have gotten the reference.

As for Brosca vs Aeducan, I've always preferred the latter - there's something hilariously satisfying about working with Harrowmont as a DN, only to turn around and give the crown to Bhelen - the disbelieving looks on both their faces is priceless.

I did the opposite. As an act of revenge, my Aeducan worked with Bhelen at first, then tricked him by giving the crown to Harrowmont at the last minute.

Who was it asking for my favourite Dwarf Origin? Or was it the one I was planning to introduce my Dwarf Inquisitor for? Anyway, her it is. My favourite dwarf playthrough would be my Dwarf Noble, Riina Aeducan.

She was the picture of dwarven political grace, easily outmaneuvering Dace and his ilk, but was (tragically) naive about family. Endrin was too soft on her I suppose. Anyway, she refused to believe the worst about Trian which means she got to see him dead, and then get accused for murder. And you know what the worst part about that was? She refused to believe it was her brother in the beginning. And then, quite silly of her, she forgived Bhelen. She thought he was forced into it, probably by other parties, thought that in order to get the crown, Bhelen did something she was sure he regretted.

This was helped by meeting Leliana, the love of her life. After all, life wasn't so bad as a Warden. She, of course, first visited the Circle Tower, meeting Gregoir, but, unfortunately, failing to save First Enchanter Irving. The templars let Wynne stay with her, however, a good bonus in Riina's opinion. Wynne was smart, resourceful and experienced from Ostagar. So, with some regret of her own, she travelled... home. Home, to Orzammar.

Mourning the loss of her father, but forcibly accepted in Orzammar, she met with her brother, and saw his bid for kingship. She truly believed Bhelen had little choice, and it turned out alright for her, hadn't it? Leliana loved her nug. So, she supported him in Orzammar, revealed that Harrowmont had double dealings to both parties, and then... visited the Shaperate. She discovered they were fakes. That Bhelen, again, would destroy people to get to the top. So, she supported Harrowmont covertly from then on, and crowned him, days later (at least I think it was days). She, fueled with anger and loss, supported Branka in saving the anvil, killing her new friend Shale in the process. In retaliation for crowning Harrowmont, Bhelen decided to attack, and she dealt the final blow against her own brother.

And slowly, she descended into madness. When Redcliffe was burning, she left to find the elves. They, obviously, weren't friendly, and while she gave them ironbark, their resoluteness to treat people like animals and refusal to see their own failings led to her siding with the wolves. Back to Redcliffe, she let Isolde sacrifice herself to save Connor, and then made her way to the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

Seeing that Kolgrim would do nothing to stop her if she helped, she decided to poison the Urn, but later had regrets to letting the madman loose. She killed him and his dragon, and then proceeded. She still, however, poisoned the Urn, seeing what kind of madness it caused in Kolgrim and the others. Poisoned, it should've had little more than no importance. Of course, Wynne and Leliana disagreed. Killing them, especially her lover, completed her depression. She killed Gentivi, praying that the madness of Andraste and her blasted Temple were never seen again.

At the landsmeet, she gave Alistair what he wanted, deciding that the humans should decide their own bloody politics. Anora was declared rightful Queen, and, truly believing it was for the best, Loghain became a Grey Warden. Having lost everyone, filled with regret, and despair, Riina refused the Dark Ritual, and, at the end of her story, contentedly walked into the abyss, killing the Archdemon.

I'll just sit there for a while and just take in those happy feelings of playing a dwarf again! After that I'll race to get Vivienne and Cole. But before that, I'll make sure to explore every corner.

Ugh, it's going to be so hard to sit there and enjoy the scenery when I KNOW MY BELOVED COMPANIONS ARE OUT THERE WAITING FOR ME. Somewhere out there, beyond the paaaaaaaaaaalle mooooooooooon liiiiiiiiiiii---I'll stop.

My point is, it's gonna be hard not to rush through it because I'm so excited. :D But yes, those dwarf happy feelings. Been floating on the idea of it for a long time, ready to fly. Hopefully not because I'm tossed by Iron Bull.

Blackwall: Okay, I have to ask, what is he laughing about?

Iron Bull: I walked in on the Inquisitor in the loos, wearing a helmet.

Blackwall: Why did you do that?

Cadash: Because last week in the showers, I didn't, walked into Iron Bull by accident and nearly lost an eye to his...

Blackwall: Thank you, I get the picture!

Iron Bull: I had the same thing happen to me while fighting a dragon!

Who will your lady dwarf be traveling with? I know it's so hard traveling the world without your favorite companions by your side, but I don't want to miss any of the scenery :/. But at least we start with our storyteller! I think all of us dwarf players want to get toss by Iron Bull, since Sera isn't up for it!

Oh gosh, all of them???

Romancing Sera and playing a rogue...so...not as much Varric and Cole :(

For mages, I suspect I'll rotate Viv and Solas, and for warrior, Cass and IB. But its gonna be hard. Especially if its easy to do a party with any combat specialty set up.

So Sera/IB/Viv and Sera/Cass/Solas are my predicted two big parties. But it could all go out the window once I meet them all!

I'm also playing a rogue, but to make it even crazier. I'm playing on hard with three rogues and a mage. I must be a rare player, since I have a set core of party members. I have been like that since my final fantasy days! I feel I can connect more with them if they are always with me.

I cant decide between a rogue Tempest or a S&S warrior Templar!  No matter how many times I say I am going to play the other races first, I always change my mind and go back to my favorite race! Dwarves!  I mean a rogue tempest, a bowling ball of death made of fire or ice or a heavily magic resistant Templar S&S warrior? *sigh* decisions decisions....

To be honest, I usually end up using the same 3 characters most of the time, but I never know which ones they'll be going into the game. There have been a lot of times I've thought I would love/dislike a certain character, but did a 180 when I got to know them in game. So I'll proably end up pretty close to you--sticking with the same 3 for most of the game, but I'm just not sure who it will be yet. I'll have to "audition" them. :P

Pfft, why would you play any other race first. :P

Both sound super fun! Maybe think more about the type of personality/decisions/flavor you want your first PT to have, and go with the one that seems like it fits that best? I want my first PT to be pretty anti-establishment, pro-elves/mages... but with room for flexibility, so I'm playing my Hipster!Cadash rogue who makes terrible decisions and is like "f*** the chantry, man" but is very inconsistent and self-involved....erm...basically I'm building a character that works no matter how inconsistent or impulsive my decisions in the first PT are, lmao.  And uh, she'll be an Assassin, I think, because it looks cool.

...my theory is basically have fun the first PT, craft a narrative the second one. So style > substance shifty rogue it is. :D But hey, maybe your idea is to play one of the extremes first, or maybe your ability to construct narratives as you go (instead of after learning the limitation)is better developed than mine. Or maybe you want to have your heroic character first, or your ~evil~ one, or whatever.

Zhenya will be a warrior (probably templar, but possibly champion), but I think most of the time her party will be Blackwall or IB, Sera or Cole, and Solas. I love Varric's personality, but I find trying to use traps annoying and he's the artificer, so Sera or Cole will be a lot more useful for me. Cassandra's probably going to have the same abilities, and I'm guessing Vivienne will not get along well with Zhenya. I think Dorian's probably going to be the necromancer, and I'm not sure I want to try to figure that one out on a first PT. But that could change once I meet them. Apparently we have to run Cass, Varric, and Solas at the beginning, and that may change my mind. It wouldn't be the first time I ran two sword-and-board warriors with almost the same talents together (my Ozera and Alistair).

Have they shown any gameplay with a female dwarf warrior? I'm a bit worried, given some of their other changes, that my dwarf is going to be thinned out so much she's basically a short, only slightly heavier built, human. I know we've seen the dwarf scout leader, but I'm not sure we get a full body glimpse of her, or did we?

@ Veeia,

I am thinking of playing my FemCadash as a "I don't care" what anyone thinks! I am gonna do what i wanna do and if you dont like it you can leave kind of girl! Hmm maybe a Dwarf rogue archer that has stealth and goes behind enemy lines  and shoots many arrows archery_by_cookiemagik-d4nv7g8.gif or an explosive arrow at the enemies from behind! or or throws a jar of bees!

The inquisition already has two dwarf ladies, Scout Harding and Dagna. There will likely be more where that came from, afterall Varric will likely be seeing Bianca again.

The one thing that I kind of wish was allowed in origins/inquistor was a dwarf romance. There is the suggestion of a romance with Gorim if you are a dwarven princess, but that is just hinted at. No other race lacks a romancable character.

But I like the dwarves in Dragon Age, so here is hoping for more cool dwarves.

After reading through The Masked Empire, I find talk of the noble dwarves quite refreshing. I have no time for the Game-playing humans nor the history-obsessed, backward Dalish nor the timid and subdued city elves. The dwarves are proud and don't deal in magical malarkey and bearded. Screw the other races.

I don't have many pics of my dwarf from DA:O, but click on the thumbnails so see more.

Her name is Analain, a dwarven commoner turned Assassin.  Her lover was Alistair, and she ended up staying a Grey Warden with him.  My set party was Alistair, Wynne, and Sten, though I usually switched Sten out with whomever I need to at the time.

And my party in DA:A.  Consisted of Justice, Anders, and Nathaniel.
