Something I just found out. During the cutscene where Dagna is introduced, other races have the Inquisitor's POV look side to side and then look down to see Dagna. However, if the Inquisitor is a dwarf, when the Inquisitor turns around, they immediately see Dagna without looking around. Thought that was a cool edition.

I'm contemplating starting on my DAO fanfic again, the one I had abandoned.

That is to say, start from scratch.

I just realised how close dwarves are to extinction, Orzammar only has 100,000 people. I doubt surface dwarves outnumber Orzammar  and I would imagine Kal Sharok isn't larger than Orzammar. So like 300,000 overall?

I DID NOT KNOW THAT! That's awesome!

I wish I had a reference handy or something, but I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Shaperate estimates of surface dwarves were off, that it was likely there were way more surface dwarves than they realized. I have nothing to back this up, but the dwarves that remain underground are at the greatest risk for being wiped out at this rate.

Gorim gives off a number of 500 in the DN origin, which always struck me as grossly inaccurate -- I believe he says the Shapers say that, though he also goes "Does it matter?" which could mean he didn't pay much attention and it could actually have been 50,000 and it just wasn't something he deemed important at the time.

Oghren also says that humans outnumber Dwarves 100 to 1, and Varric says tens of thousands of Dwarves live on the surface just fine.

We also have to account for whatever Dwarves might live in Qunari lands. I doubt there are many, but I'm sure they exist.

If the Shapers do say that, I doubt they're accounting for the casteless at all since they aren't technically people in Orzammar, so that would skew the final number quite a bit. Personally I think dwarven society will live on through the surfacers anyway. It's only a matter of time before the darkspawn claim Orzammar and Kal-Sharok.

That's what I came to as well when this topic was brought up before about Dwarven numbers on the surface -- as I recall, in this very thread I believe, though it was probably 50 or so pages ago.

Another contributing factor to the Dwarves' decline is how battle status is granted to Dwarves who turn 14, so I suppose that ends up killing their numbers a bit more.

Not if I golemise the entire casteless population of Orzammar

Cool! I've seen this from a Dalish perspective, yes, they look around for a moment. Haven't gotten to Skyhold with Reska yet.

It's going to take a long time for the dwarves to go extinct, but maybe we can get some half-dwarves kids on the surface. Like Kieran or if Cassandra is willing to have any children.

True. They are a rather violent lot, both in politics and their unending fight against the darkspawn. Isn't there also something in the lore about dwarves being less fertile than other races, or am I remembering that wrong? I could've sworn there was.

I'm curious, has anyone here rolled a "Didn't kill Flemeth" DAO world? Does it affect anything in DAI? Obviously Flemeth had the means to come back in place as DAII demonstrated, but in the event you don't kill her in DAO there are potentially two Flemeths in the world.

Hmm, I think one of my current PTs is a pro-Flemeth DAO world, but I haven't gotten that far yet. But I think the assumption is that something else happened that she needed that opportunity in DA2 if you let her live in DAO.

Same here, I seem to remember that if you get the book by non violent means in DAO, she drop a line to Morrigan about being cheated when you're in the Fade.

Also, from what she says to Hawke in DA2 :

Hawke  :Nobody wanted to buy it, mayber because it had a witch inside.

Flemeth : Just a piece, a small piece, but it was all I needed.

A bit of security should the inevitable occurs, and if I know my Morrigan, it already has.

The Flemeth that stand before Hawke doesn't know wether Morrigan managed to have her killed or not, the amulet was a safeguard, so I always thought that the Flemeth Hawke met is the only one, if the Warden kills her she is reborn the moment the dalish rite is done on Sundermount, and if the Warden let her live the part of her that is in the Korcari Wilds vanishes as she is made whole again on Sundermount.

Edit : Sorry posted before I finished.

I beat the game on nightmare, which means I got the "inquisitor" achievement. I may be a super saiyan nerd, but I wasn't ready to finish Cespar. My feels are acting up right now in a bad way. Like watching your kid get on the school bus for the first time, lol.

The balcony scene with Cadash and Cassandra was super emotional and beautiful at the same time, because I could feel all the emotions coming out of Cassandra's mouth when she was talking about being named the new Divine, and how that would put them on different paths.  :(  :crying:

Awww. That's the one drawback to her romance; the possibility of her being Divine. Congrats on nightmare mode completion, though!

Thanks! Her Tarot Card didn't change to the Divine one, but stay the romance one. It gives me a little hope to what could still be, because there was a broken heart dialogue right before going to the balcony. I went with Cadash telling her to spend a little time before she is named Divine.

I did and I was watching for any references to that, but I didn't see any. It's possible I didn't pick the right dialogue choice (kind of like Kieran won't say anything about the Titans unless you joke about being a dwarf). In this game, I drank from the well AND dealt with Morrigan chasing after Kieran.

Quiet in here the last couple of days, lol.

Reska sided with the Templars, I'm hoping to leave Haven on her tomorrow night. However, I've discovered that apparently the Blackwall romance has a glitch in it so if you ask him all his personal questions before his reveal, a chance to ask most of them again for the truth won't pop up. I'm worried that I may already be past that point with him, sigh.

Don't worry. Once you get to Skyhold, he should have a lot more to converse about. Put up Skyhold's pictures of Reska.

Unfortunately she's talking about a very specific glitch. The writer for Blackwall addressed the oversight and how to avoid it until it can get patched: http://forum.bioware...ker/?p=18362812

Veeia posted a video to the BW thread if you're curious what dialogue you're missing post-Revelations. (She's on a dwarf so this is still totally relevant to the dwarf thread. =p)

Thank you! That adds quite a lot to the relationship that I felt was missing. Turns out it had more to do with a glitch in their settings than deliberately cutting it off at the reveal. Hopefully there's something new at Skyhold I can skip so those conversation options trigger for me afterwards.

Will do! I've been pushing ahead my Dalish warrior, but I rotate around to the others.

Am I the only person who's sad that the Dwarf boon has been wiped away and the game acts as if we didn't ask for help?

Was it? I couldn't tell if I used up my boon in asking Anora to spare Alistair or if Harrowmont was blocking those forces from helping out. Thought it was just my world state or maybe it got overlooked with Harrowmont's demise. This game was elf heavy for good reasons. I think we might have our day of reckoning, especially if Kal-Sharok comes into play.
