I wonder if its prolonged exposure to lyrium that gives dwarfs their resistance to magic? And that perhaps the race wasn't always exposed to lyrium? Look at the primaeval thaig. There's evidence there that dwarfs may have been mages. At that same time they made these artifacts out of pure red lyrium. It is very dangerous, even for dwarfs, to risk such exposure to any sort of pure lyrium, red or blue. Perhaps lyrium was so new these ancient dwarfs simply didn't recognize the danger?

I would also love the opportunity to play as a Kal Sharok dwarf, if possible, not just visit, so the idea of that as a possible dwarven origin for the next game would be the best idea. Of course it depends on where they go with KS in the lore, it might for some reason or another, not make sense as a place of origin, but a girl can dream. ![]()

We've talked quite a bit about the Lyrium and its connection to the dwarves quite a bit.
Basically, old ancient dwarves or Titans' soul=Lyrium. Theories comes from Cole and Kieran , and a little bit of brainstorming from details in the game.

Hello!
I'm currently playing a dwarf and I have a lot of fun with him.
His name is Aleandro Cadash (his mother was a fan of Antivan poetry...) and he's a Champion because I wanted him to be a kind of enthousiastic/positive character.
He's more curious than frightened by magic in general and by the anchor in particular.
He's also happy to discover everything about dwarf culture (he had never thought a lot about it when he was with the carta).Ironically he has never been so close to truly believe in the stone since everyone calls him "the herald of Andraste".

I would hope a game, instead of a small scale DLC. Kal-Sharok is interesting, and I would hope that it gets the same attention that Orzammar did, which was in a full game.
True, I guess I am desperate for more dwarven content as much as I want more qunari content. If we dont go to Kal-sharok in a DLC, maybe a DLC that involves dwarves from there.

Quick question, amigos: across every game, what are your favorite characters to pair with a dwarf Warden/Inquisitor? Are there story reasons for that, or do you just think they're cute together? Is there anybody that you really don't like romancing with a dwarf PC?
I was just thinking about dwarf-exclusive content in the romances (e.g., Alistair's comment about his height, Leliana kneeling for smooches, Zev's different kisses, Sera's comments about how cute/adorable/smooshy Inky is, various bits with Blackwall...) and yeeaahh it just got me wondering.
Thoughts?
Hmm, not sure. I like my Aeducan-Zevran dynamic quite a lot, but Brosca-Alistair was also very, very good, for most of the same reasons as Veeia mentioned. Koshka executed Loghain herself (she was really honked off by what happened to Duncan in particular) and cheerfully became Alistair's mistress. I can't remember now if I married him off to Anora or not, though if the devs have decided that Alistair who is not married to Anora and has a mistress stays unmarried (which kind of seems implied), I want that as my WS instead. I never romanced Leli or Morrigan with a dwarf. I'm so-so on the official options for female dwarven romances in DAI, but I installed one of the new mods and will be romancing an unofficial one with Zhenya after all
. If I installed it right. If not, Harding it is.
Sera's comments to a dwarf put my dwarves off a little, though the elf comments are worse. I see the appeal to her romance for a lot of people, but unlike Leliana with an elf in DAO, you really can't respond appropriately to Sera about her assumptions, etc. and get her to see past them, so I'm just not personally working up any enthusiasm for that kind of relationship.

Talking about Koshka reminded me of this. Nothing exciting, just Koshka Brosca telling how she became a grey warden from her POV, but sometimes it doesn't seem as if there's a lot of dwarf PC fanfic out there.

Thank you! Well, it means "cat" in Russian (and her mabari is named "sobaka" - dog), so appropriate for a Cathar! Partly laziness, I admit, but I also think of her as very catlike.

That's why I picked it! I remembered that Juhani had a vaguely Russian sounding accent, so thought it would be appropriate.

I used to occasionally get Russians IMing me in SWtOR because of the names I gave my PCs. It led to a few funny conversations in very badly transliterated Russian (mine, not theirs) and at least one attempt to recruit me to a Russian language guild. ![]()

Well the Qunari seem to be leading the way in that department, they've got cannons of some description. Although at least some dwarves are experimenting with explosives (the one dwarf from Awakening who makes bombs, forget his name). So dwarven hand-cannons might be a ways off yet, though the Qunari might do it before the age is done.
I think the biggest hurdle for the Dwarves getting cannons, hand-cannons and the like isn't necessarily them figuring out the tech, but getting it out there without alerting the Qunari? According to DA2, Dworkin Glavonak was close to nearly cracking the formula for gaatlok on his own, when the Qunari sent assassins after him to eliminate the competition and prevent them from losing their monopoly on the technology.
Speaking of which, it does make me wonder why more people aren't after Varric to try and steal Bianca, to figure out the secrets of her construction? When you stop and think about it, the reveal that the real Bianca was her designer actually ends up being kinda a wallbanger, since if Varric was so concerned about keeping the secret of who exactly made his own of a kind crossbow from people... why would he name her after his ex-girlfriend who's a well-known and well-renowned mechanical genius?

I know, right?
Forcing Bianca to outfit our Inquisition with automatic crossbows seems like something that would have been completely in-keeping with the character of the Renegade Sinquisitor? She naturally refuses and when we insist, she decides the best way to prevent that knowledge from getting out is to hurl herself over that ravine and take the secret to her grave. After a moment of shock, Varric is ready to shot the Inquisitor... but while his finger brushes the trigger, he can't bring himself to do it and instead leaves the Inquisition right there and then.
Alternatively, the Inquisitor blackmails her into working for you in exchange for keeping that information secret. One benefit is that Dagna and Harritt are able to whip up some Infinity +1 weapons and armour, but the downside is that war table missions reveal that we have royally hacked off the Carta and we've got contracts out on us from their own in-house assassins, the House of Repose and the Antivan Crows? Plus Varric hates us for blackmailing his girlfriend and implies that while she's now around for him to see, she's broken up with him completely for having gotten her into this situation.

I feel kal-sharok is that breath of fresh air needed for the dwarves. They seem to be almost a sub race of dwarves now with there own modified dwarven culture. I think a big piece of the dwarven puzzle is there and exploring there culture can have the dwarves elevated higher in more eyes.
The Dwarves will be elevated higher in more eyes when we go to Tevinter, according to Dorian. The players will have no choice but to interact with the dwarves >
. Unless Bioware goes the route to include less dwarves in the cities of Tevinter.

Not for Nasir of course. But maybe if I do a different Dwarf I'll make him/her Nasir's douchebag ruthless cousin.

Dwarf Quizzie Update Time!
So I'm still plugging away with Agathe and loving it. She's a badass character and I dig her.
And I've been struggling with armor selection for her. She's a ranged rogue, so I want her in something appropriate. I kind of broke that with Graeme (my dual wield dwarf) by putting him in silverite Legion Armor. But I don't want all of my quizzies in similar armor. So since my qunari wore the traditional short-coat, chain supported jacket with the inquisition breastplate armor, I want Agathe in something different. So I settled on Hunter Mail, but it just didn't feel right, until I found this arm/leg combo (it's the one of the hunter arm and leg piece combos). Now, I think she looks amazing. It's light enough for her to move as an archer, but still sturdy enough to look like a proper dwarf gal.
Now, onto the real news. I'm going to hit a spot soon where I have to stop playing as Agathe because of the XBONE "Under Her Skin" quest bug, so I'm gearing up for my next character and I've been struggling with my last two characters. I already did a male qunari two-handed warrior (british voice, romanced Dorian), male dwarf dual wield rogue (american voice, romanced Bull), and now a female ranged rogue (american voice, romanced Blackwall). I wanted to do one character for each of the starting classes. So that leaves me with mage and sword/shield warrior still.
I created a female qunari mage and I was digging her for a while, but got a little bored with her in the Hinterlands. And I thought for a bit that I might try out an elf for once. I was going to make a male s&s Dalish hunter. But, try as I might, I just can't get them to look......burly and hairy enough for my liking. All of the male elves that I made felt like skinny little boys and I just wasn't feeling it.
So I scrapped both ideas and decided to go with another dwarf gal for my second lady character. I knew I wanted two female characters, so I could hear all four voice sets. So I needed to create a lady dwarf who would fit for the british voice and who was significantly different than Agathe, who's a tough gal. So I created.....Agnes Cadash! She's a very feminine, but capable Carta gal. I'm going to play her as a DA: O Leliana or DA: I Josephine type. Somewhat girly, but tough under that exterior. She's going to end up with Josephine, I think, because I'm really interested in seeing that dual as a lady dwarf. And I think I did a good job of making her look very different from Agathe.
Bonus points to the first person to identify the 80's hip hop song that I used to draw my lady Cadash names!
