Getting ready for a second dwarf run.
I'm thinking dual wield daggers. It's the only class I haven't tried yet. Though can't decide what specialization he will be.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,

I'm just really getting into my first DW rogue PT, so I'm not sure. ChibiElemental suggested right after the game came out that assassin was best for offensive and tempest was best for defensive with artificer suggested more for archers (though some people make it work for DW.) I've been using assassin for my archer and it's working pretty well. I'm considering tempest for my DW because apparently if you manage the right tonics in the right order, you can take a lot of damage in close melee.

Small bit of proof the Dwarves of the Primeval Thaig were Mages (for all my certainty of that fact, I never really realized the belt's significance to my notion).
Suffice to say, I find it odd that the Primeval Thaig Dwarves would craft a belt that increased damage output rather then say resistance in terms of magic. And logically, enchanted weaponry would be separate from a belt, because how could a belt increase how much damage a sword does? Unless we're to take away from it all that it makes the flames burn hotter and brighter in the sword.
Still, I'm replaying DAII, partially to see if there's anything else I missed. One thing struck me as interesting. One of the loading screens that shows Merrill's mirror shows an area that looks incredibly similar to the Crossroads.

I decided to switch from a rogue to a weapon and shield reaver warrior girl named Arja (short I know), which a dwarf name from here. I figured the name fit since it means blood mistress. I also have a backstory for her, but I will not bore you all with it.

Since the characters are subject to fallibility are we certain that the Primeval Thaig's occupants are Dwarven?
Oh, and about the Valdasine. Do you think the clan had discovered how to use magic, and entered the fade or were forcibly pulled into the fade.

Gaider confirmed it was Dwarven architecture years ago, yup.
As for Valdasine, not sure. I'll need some time to figure it out. But I think it's probably related to my "Lyrium is tied to the souls of Dwarves/manifestation of dead Dwarves" theory

We don't know much about the Primeval Thaig. There could had been more than dwarves living there, which wouldn't be the first time that dwarves and others resided together. We may get more information with a Deep Road DLC, or even with the wardens since they were investigating the Thaig.
You need to separate gameplay effects from lore reasons.

If you played the Dalish origin in DAO, there are underground ruins with both human and elven artifacts (including a statue of an elven god, I think), and there was an eluvian there (shattered by Duncan, and I believe the same one Merrill tries to restore.) The ruins were never explained, I think. So there are hints of co-habitation by races, and the elven god suggests the elves weren't present as slaves (as they are later in Tevinter.)We don't know much about the Primeval Thaig. Hello dwarves!
So I was in the Winter Palace before 2 days, and there is this group of Orzammar dwarves or Surface dwarves that talk about Orzammar.
Now in my playthrough Harrowmont is the king (That son of a... lets continue) Now in one of the conversation one of the dwarves asked "How can Orzammar hold up like that any longer?" or somthing like that, and the dwarf near her answered somthing like "I dont know but the last time somthing happened in the Diamond Quarter, it was a fight for food" Its not a 100% copy of it, but it was about somthing between nobles being hungry or starving? And that they fight for food for their house? Somthing like that. Idk about you guys but somthing weird is going on there.

NEVER!!!
In all seriousness, I would separate it if the effects were randomized. But they're not, thus I at least consider them in my crazy theories. We also find a carved ring of the vhenadahl in (or just outside) the Primeval Thaig, which suggests that Elves may have gone down there at some point (perhaps heretical Elves to the worship of the Creators?).
It's also interesting that the PT had Golems. But I've gone over that before, with my belief the Anvil is a relic from the PT days and that there's one near Orzammar.
If nothing else, we do know one thing.
The PT Dwarves wore pants! I wonder if they were schleets? ![]()

Well, the Eluvian Merrill was building was confirmed by the devs to be a completely new one, rather then a restoration of the old one. The shard was just a foundational piece from the original but it's a different Eluvian in the end.
The statue of the Elven god was Falon'Din, while the Elven artifact the humans recovered seems to depict Ghilan'nain. And I think there was something else, not in the ruins but elsewhere in the series, that made me think she and Falon'Din were together.

Yea I remember that from Origins, and was thinking about that when I was typing. The old Cadash thaig crossed my mind also, because they were living with the Ancient elves. I think those elves that we met in the Temple of Mythal were the same elves. I love the fact that my Cadash is holding the knowledge of the Well, which his ancestors lived with the Ancient elves.
I think the Kal-Sharok dwarves knows more about the Red Lyrium than anyone else. The Deep Roads is basically their home.
Yea, Dorian freaks out a lot if you bring him to the Temple of Mythal, and even get a special scene with him after returning to Skyhold.

There are differences in the food shortage crisis depending on if you crowned Harrowmont or Bhelen. Here's a list: http://forum.bioware.../#entry18041042

I'm only about level 4 or 5 on my DW rogue, but he's pretty impressive at doing damage so far.

I did Assassin for DW and loooved it. You can always play with Cole to see if that spec is to your satisfaction. I just thought it was super fun, but will add I was not playing on a high difficulty, and chose it for RP reasons.

I've played DW Assassin on Hard, and it's pretty powerful as well as being fun. Hidden Blades is great for hitting annoying teleporting things as well as mages and archers. (Before you swing over to them with hook and tackle and start stabbing in earnest.)

Hello fellow dwarves, long time no see. Pleasure to see you all posting and kicking!
Harrowmont is a traditionalist, in the ending of DAO if he is King it is said that he refuse to have dealings with the surface dwarves and so the exchange between Orzammar and the rest of the world dwindle and so does Orzammar, starvation and civil war generally follow.
A cold hearted bastard is sometimes a better ruler than a kind one.

Thanks for all the helpful answers and feedback everyone!

Yeah, I just finished the prologue with my Cadash. And even in that small amount of gameplay, I had a lot of fun. There is something immensely satisfying in launching a backstab from the shadows and to watch the enemy crumple to the ground, dead. So I definitely can't wait to continue his playthrough.

That's some endorsement. Now, you have me leaning on picking assassin. I only play on normal so no worries. I was leaning assassin over tempest for rp reasons too, and now I think I just have to choose it now. It seems my dW rogue will be even more fun now.

That's good to know. I only play on normal, but will probably raise the difficulty eventually for a new challenge. Thanks for the reply.

I just stopped by to say that I'm currently loving my dwarf quizzy Alcina (champion SnS warrior)!
She's definitely been the PT I've had the most fun with [enough that I consider her to be my 2nd canon now]. I'll post screenshots whenever I get around to turning on my X1 to take some.
DAI was my first game in the series and it prompted me to want to go back and play the previous ones. Well I did/am and now my dwarven curiosity is through the roof and I need more lore! I have so many questions, I hope you all don't mind me popping in and being that annoying person.
And seriously, I need more lore on dwarfs
