Yeah, it has been quiet.
I've been spending most of my free time trying to push one of my inquisitors to the end of the game so that I can be ready for Jaws of Hakkon when its finally released for Ps4.

Okay finally at a PC. Dropping the link to my Cadash fic series (her relationship with Iron Bull): http://archiveofouro...g/series/230880
I'm still working on a couple of fics about her life pre-DAI that'll be in another series though.
It's been awfully quiet in here for a few days. Maybe there was an infestation of nugs I missed
There are four threads on the forum (including this one) that I get notifications for and I can say that they've all slowed down a lot. Maybe the occasional post every other day. I don't know how active the other fan threads are, but I figured it was a lull since most people have long beaten the game and the Jaws of Hakkon DLC didn't seem to offer much to keep conversations going.
We're in need of Cadash, Brosca, and Aeducan picture spams! I'd to put my FanFic on the back burner for now, because of the class I'm currently taking.
I'm still on my third playthrough. Started this back in January and have over 200 hours invested according to the times on my saved games. This is a combination of being AFK often to deal with my kids and because I play around with flycam during battle so things go slower. (A dragon fight will take me an hour to complete just because of all the pausing and camera positioning.) I enjoy this stuff so there's no urgency to finish anytime soon. ![]()
I've dug up a few screenshots to share.
I held onto the mercenary coat because it didn't make sense to be in fancy duds before reaching Skyhold. I also liked the idea of wearing it to Val Royeaux and blending in with the crowd instead of sticking out as the Inquisitor. This was just for RP as I walked around eavesdropping on various conversations. SO. By the time I got to "In Your Heart Shall Burn," I was really struggling with the terrible stats on this armor. Chugging health potions like there was no tomorrow. I carried around better armor in my inventory just in case I'd need it to beat a tough group of mobs. I do love how she looks like a nobody here in her first face-to-face encounter with Corypheus, where he's vastly underestimating the part she'll play.

When the tint table was implemented, I dusted off this armor and dyed it white for when Josephine met with faux Comte. I thought it looked spifty and helped Cadash appear classy for Josephine's benefit. (I later on dyed this black for the Val Royeaux prison scene with Blackwall. Did you notice that the sky turned dark in Skyhold after Blackwall disappeared and it rained in Val Royeaux until the truth came to light? Wonderful dark theme going on there.)

The "iconic" gear for this character. I went back and forth on deciding between wearing the Carta helmet like a proper dwarf or the Inquisitor helmet. Finally decided on the Inquisitor helmet because of her unique role. There's only one Inquisitor. You won't find Aeducan or Brosca wearing it, y'know?

Getting her reaver on. Rawr.

Great pics, Gilsa.
Your dwarf warrior looks great.
And I always approve of crafting/tinting weapons and armor for RP and head canon reasons.
In terms of the helmet, I tended to use the dwarf helmet for my Cadash. And then tinted it red and black, that gave it a great look. No matter my playthrough, the iconic inquisitor helmet always goes to Cassandra
for reasons.
I haven't tried reaver yet, my warriors keep becoming champions. (It's good to be a champion)
And what great sword are you using? It looks familiar.
Thanks! And please do share your champion pics. I've yet to try out the champion or templar trees and enjoy seeing others in that role, especially when they explain why they go down those paths.
And the sword pictured is Masterwork Serrated Greatsword, which is a schematic that's looted from one of the dwarven tombs in Hissing Wastes. I figured it was close enough to be dwarvish (even if by proximity) until I could find a comparable axe or maul version. (I'd have to check, but I think I replaced it with Hossberg Twainer.)

I imagine that the recent Mass Effect "leak" has probably drawn attention away from the Dragon Age forums for awhile.

Mass Effect leak, you say? Hmmm, I'll be right back ![]()

It shouldn't take you to long to find a thread for it. There's probably 50 of them by now. ![]()
I'm tempted, but will restrain myself (for now)
Here's a fun silly Question:
Does anyone ship any of their PCs with other of their PCs?
Bc I have a Cadash and Brosca and they just seem made for each other. May need to explore it in an AU ficlet.
And they would be the ultimate dwarf power couple. ![]()
My f!Brosca and f!Cadash would probably be good friends. Although considering everything Brosca has endured at the hands of the Carta, she might be angry about my Cadash's "mafia princess" standing in the Carta as I've headcanoned it. But they'd get over it after sparring [a few times]. Then Alcina would work with Narasi to right as much as she could within her power (or her family's power).
I'm not so sure about my other PCs though.
I think my Zhenya Cadash would hit it off quite well with one of my Tabriz's, but also with one of my Cousland's, oddly. She and my Aeducan would have quickly have become best drinking buddies. All she and my Brosca really have in common is the Carta background.

Nice, Gilsa. I always enjoy reading your posts in this thread. I really like that you can role play like that. I would usually try something like that, but on Nightmare, you'll need the armor that offers the best stats. I really do like role playing, so I mostly role play with other aspects, like keeping the dwarven toys and staying in character with how I'd pictured my Cadash. He's mostly a jokester, so I tend to pick the "humor" options, and even when I became the Inquisitor, I still told people that I was still the same old commoner. Nice pictures by the way.
I have only played the Templar class, and when I've tried to do something different, I always end up a Templar again.
I'm glad that I know more about the lore, which has made me play my Cadash a lot different than Brosca and Hawke.

Playing hooky for a few minutes from some work. Gilsa, you get really lovely screenshots! I particularly like you in the Legion of the Dead armor. I also enjoy your RP ideas. I usually keep a few items for that purpose, but I don't have the patience for continuing in under-level armor in actual fights. I always saved a few particular items of clothing or armor in DAO for the cutscenes in camp, though, or would put people in particular things that were undergeared (particularly anything grey warden for my wardens or Alistair) then swap them out when combat started, something we can't do anymore, sigh. I tend to manage most of my RPing in headcannon (some of which is now leading to fanfic, lol)
And I've noticed a lot of the threads have slowed down considerably (though my real life is so crazy I don't have as much time to notice right now.) I only follow two threads closely, though, so I wasn't sure if it was general or not.
@Tish -- Hey, thanks! I enjoy taking pictures of people in RL with my camera and I use the flycam in-game as a way to challenge myself to look at different angles, find a way to tell a story with a picture if I can. I end up deleting a lot of them, but sometimes getting that one good picture is worth the effort.
And I really like the Legion of the Dead armor because that armor is the common theme between Aeducan, Brosca, and Cadash. (Aeducan wears the noble version, Brosca wears the black version with the actual logo, and Cadash wears the mostly silver version.) I have a fantasy that one day I'll get a commission of these three gals together, but that requires money saved for a rainy day. =p
Annnnnd I've got a fun treat for this thread since I know you guys love quotes and such! I used a save editor during Halamshiral and ran the character through all possible outcomes from A Paragon of Her Kind. I put the info in spoilers just to be safe. The reason why we don't hear anything about the anvil or Branka is because our dwarf warden takes priority over Branka/Caridin. The dwarves will only give out information on one paragon. So to hear about Branka, you'd need to have a non-dwarf warden import.
I knew Harrowmont was a weak king, but wow, total insincerity towards Aeducan. (WTF, man. Where's the gratitude! I am coming back for you, I swear it.)
LOL, I know. ROFL. I know that's bad and I shouldn't laugh, but it's like they phoned it in or something. =p

Too true! Ah, well, poor Brosca. Though at least Bhelen does well by a dead Brosca, putting her/him right out in front of the palace. Gilsa, thanks for posting those! I've seen bits and pieces of them before, but I don't think I've seen all of them together.
"Not in months. The assembly insists on declaring the Paragon dead, but King Bhelen refuses to give up the search."
Okay I know that this is probably more of a pragmatic "We need our paragon" than a sentimental "I need to find my sibling", but it still tugs at the heart strings. Just a little. Especially since Harrowmont's response is "Whelp, paragon declared dead, sorry." >_<

I generally preferred Bhelen over Harrowmont for a lot of reasons, but if you take some of what Bhelen himself says as sincere (which is problematic considering dwarven politics I admit,) he may really have believed both of his older siblings would be disastrous. His association with Rica and his apparent good treatment of her (including tolerating her drunken mother instead of arranging an 'accident') suggests maybe he'd already had an interest in the casteless and thought he was the only chance for change which would also strengthen Orzammar's defenses.
I admit, by the time I started a second Aeducan PT, I became very suspicious of Harrowmont and don't believe he was the loyal, grieving friend to Endrin that he presented. He's the only one who knew where the Warden Aeducan was going who could have tipped off the oldest son; I think Bhelen just took him by surprise.

I always preferred Bhelen over Harrowmont myself. The later kinda reminds me of a weird mix between Eamon and Howe.and I'm actually wondering if he wasn't the one poisoning Endrin (admitting Endrin died from poison).
I still cling to the notion that Harrowmont was supposed to die in the epilogue and Aeducan would have returned to Orzammar to resume the family rule. =p
It was a gamble picking Harrowmont, one that didn't pay off long-term, but I like seeing my world states a bit messed up anyway. I really disliked Bhelen in DA2 where he sent the Carta to hunt down Harrowmont's nephew in order to wipe out the entire lineage. So no regrets there.

Me too. I like when it's not a 'perfect' state. The only way that I can see Bhelen making sense for an Aeducan warden is if s/he is "ride or die Aeducan" or appreciates the Orzammar version of The Game so much that s/he can overlook the whole betrayal part. Any other Aeducan should go for Harrowmont. For Brosca, I just can't see any situation at all where s/he wouldn't want to put Bhelen on the throne given that it would elevate your family to nobility and, potentially, put your nephew in line for the throne. Harrowmont offers really nothing at all for Brosca, in my opinion.
Completely agree about Brosca/Harrowmont. I played a game out that way, just for science, and was pretty unconvinced. After looking into the DAO toolset at the time, it was discovered that Harrowmont had very few specific dialogues for the dwarf commoner. (The dwarf commoner often received the same lines as the other races.) His lines only change in regards to Jarvia (another casteless) and taking care of Rica's baby. I still have my notes from the old forums so copying and pasting them here. ("VO" are notes for the voice actors, to provide information on tone or give a better understanding of the character they're portraying.)
This should be everything Rica says in relation to the dwarf commoner not siding with Bhelen.
It would have been nice for Harrowmont to try harder to sway the dwarf commoner instead of it being a slam dunk for Bhelen, but the writers might have been limited on resources. Or maybe this was intentional, to underline how ineffective Harrowmont was?
