Haha! I love Leliana x Brosca, too. Though, my guy softened her. (He needs to believe that people can change if they want to.)

Leske betraying Brosca was a little hard for him, so he went through a small change after killing his childhood/best friend. Only reason he didn't become fully ruthless was because of Wynne, Leliana, Dog, and his family.

My dwarf is going to be a straight up jerk, so I don't think I should pair him up with anybody.

BUT out of curiosity, how do the romance scenes work? Especially if the two characters are standing up.

Sometimes they alter heights. But in a few, like the dance, they keep the heights reasonably true. Actually, I think a male dwarf with Cass is handled fairly well height-wise too (but a lot of the scene isn't standing up either, lol.)

The dance with Cassandra isn't.   :crying: But I love Pentash a lot that I'm willing to overlook it.

Yeah it's not. :( Which is actually quite disturbing, if definitely amusing.

Sorry to hear that. Though my female Dalish had the amusing moment of when they did make her shorter than a human (also very inconsistent) and she buried her face in the Duchess's cleavage during their dance.

I LOVE THAT!!

I've only done Iron Bull and Blackwall with a dwarf so far. Because of all the extra overtime they put into making Iron Bull available to other races, the quality of the dwarf animations are much higher than Blackwall's, for one. I rarely saw immersion-breaking "floating." The scenes with Blackwall are 50/50. It looks great in some places, but in others, it's downright cringeworthy. It's not just the dwarf though -- it also happens to the qunari. They will shrink her down to be face-to-face with him when this is an Amazon that towers over the guy. I've seen some gals said they couldn't deal with it and they rerolled to a human/elf to romance Blackwall instead.

Since I've been playing around with the flycam a LOT this playthrough, I finally got a good look at the bar scene with Blackwall and Cadash before he heads out. I knew something wasn't right about that scene. Cadash looked excessively small. Turns out it was Blackwall that was floating waaaay above Cadash. Sheesh. =p

That scene was probably one of the most painful I remember it really made my warden feel like a character in the world rather than a player stand in, the commoner was my favorite origin. I RPed my dwarf as the opposite of yours apparently, he started off ruthless and became nicer over the journey. But killing leske was a big epiphany for him, he realized that leske was right, if their positions were reversed he would have tried to kill him too and decided to never be that person again, becoming much more forgiving and heroic (which opened up a whole other can of worms when this change led him to spare loghain).

Also morrigan and my Brosca just fit to me, both are outsiders to their people, both have troubled relationships with their mothers, both were pragmatic, it all just seem to parallel each other. I also like that morrigan, regardless of your relationship or lack thereof, will jokingly mention that Brosca and her have a lot in common if you take her with you for your first conversation with your mother when you return to orzammar

I agree on the Brosca + Morrigan pairing. I made one just to see where the Old God baby storyline would go and I wanted to see if the dwarven parentage would have any impact. I wasn't serious about the pairing so I was surprised to see how well they actually complimented each other. They definitely grew on me.

Yes! There were so many times that companions seemed to be oblivious to your CE or DC being insulted, etc., and that one really struck me as one of the few times someone wasn't deaf to what was said.

Awww, all this talk of dwarf Warden/Origin companions is making me nostalgic! Someday I'll have to compile a list of all the dwarf x Leli/Morri/Zev/Alistair fics I've collected...

In the meantime, have some cute dorf ladies.

I think its time for the devs to introduce a dwarven companion AND a new class for dwarven characters.

Shaper.

We have been given great insight into elven and qunari philosophy, lore etc. For a race that has been apart of the franchise since the beginning, i feel dwarves need alot more 'love'

Given what dagna can do with lyrium and runes, im sure a shaper would be a very fun character to play as.

That'd be a nice little way to give Dwarves a nice little pseudo-mage class to play with?

It's not lorebreaking either because the Shapers aren't using true magic, they're merely using enchanted runes to create magical effects on the battlefield? Throwing enchanted runes on the ground would create similar effects to the Fire and Ice Mine glyphs that the Mages can cast?

You could also give them those staffs we saw that the Assembly use in Origins, but rather than being used like mages to cast magic around, they're just enchanted melee weapons for close quarters combat?

A Dwarf beating people with a bo staff and throwing enchanted runes on the ground sounds like an epically fun little class?

It was definitely weird to return to Orzammar for the first time. I was on my dwarf noble and my party didn't seem to appreciate I was former royalty. I remember being eager to find Harrowmont again, you know the guy that believed in my naive dwarf and sent Gorim alone with information on finding the Grey Wardens and stuff. And then Zevran, who was in my party, spoke up and told me, "Were I you I would seek a stronger king than this Harrowmont." For some reason, that really irritated me. I thought it was disrespectful to speak out like that in front of the people I was talking to so I actually left Orzammar to kick him out of my group. If I was on a Brosca, that probably would have been viewed differently.

Oh, by the way, there have been racial "appreciation days" on tumblr lately and today is #Cadash Appreciation Day if you want to check out the tag or add your own OCs to it.

Of course, Zevran's probably looking at the situation like an assassin, he probably admires Bhelen's style to off his opponents without getting caught? Still a little insensitive to say to someone who's just lost two family members to his machinations though?

Still, compare that to the Human Noble when Alistair asks about if they've lost someone, you can hear from his voice when you remind him how awful he feels and that he's mentally kicking himself for having forgotten?

I'd have been nice to have had a conversation post-Orzammar with someone in your party about how it was to go back? Like how Aeducan might feel about having put your brother on the throne or getting revenge on him, or for Brosca, how they are coping with Leske's betrayal or finding out that Rica might be the mother of the future Dwarven King?

Maybe I should romance Dorian. That's a guy who doesn't mind some gray morality.

I don't suppose a Circle supporting character would bode well with him, though.

It does help that Cassandra isn't particularly tall.

But I'm leaving her romance for when I get my hands on a PS4. Cass is too glorious for her love to be mocked with lesser graphics.

Exactly. My qunari rogue who was supposed to be for Dorian now can't make up his mind because he really likes Cass too. :P

Hooray for Cadash Appreciation Day! I made my contribution to the tag.

I'd add more but I don't feel like going through the hassle of getting the screenies off the X1.

My friends play but they don't get as deep as I can sometimes so I turned to Tumblr to indulge myself  :)

You could do it now behind spoilers, I think? I don't have the book yet, but I've been seeing tantalizing hints on another thread.

My daughters play, but they aren't as attached to the DA series as I am - they introduced me a couple of years ago because they knew I'd love the stories (especially once I began identifying the bits that are adaptations of Arthurian stories.) One is a big ME fan, though she shifts from game to game far more quickly than I ever would want to, and the other is currently obsessed with Minecraft (and waiting to get Witcher in a couple of weeks when she's finished her last exam.) I do have friends who game (surprising how many of us old farts there are,) but they all play MMORPGs only.
