I need to finish my dwarf since E3 is now over with. Those reveals held me back.
Yeah, it is. This will be dwarf number three for me.

New chapter, very slightly NSFW (if they're really stuffy)

Forgive me if this has been done before, but I thought it would be interesting to hear briefly about everyone else's dwarves. Its never stale to discuss our awesome dwarves.
Let's spread the dwarf pride, shall we?
Name, specialization, romance, did they embrace/not embrace carta life, believer or not believer of the Stone, templars/mages, their goal/purpose of the Inquisition
That's all I can think of, but feel free to add more.
We gotta keep this thread on the first page, after all.
I'll go first
1) Edric
2 handed champion
Cassandra
Embraced the Carta early, but was drifting away from that life
Andrastian
Allied with Templars
Wanted to rebuild Thedas. He was all about the peace.
2) Malin
dual daggers assassin
No romance
Firmly embraced Carta Life and I head cannon that he was one of their top assassins.
Only believed in himself
Conscripted the Templars
All about establishing himself as a power in Southern Thedas. Hence why he conscripted the templars wanted them to serve, backed leaders who would owe their status to him. So he had Gaspard as emperor, and put Vivienne on the Sunburst throne
3) Orion
An archer (going to be an artificer)
Haven't decided yet
Enjoyed the Carta perks. They financed his tinkering/
Believed in the Stone.
Still undecided.
Undecided.
Good idea! Let's discuss our awesome dwarves!
This is always fun...
Reska
Rogue-archer-assassin
Blackwall
Yes, though she mostly worked as a negotiator/contact with rich buyers, rarely at the smuggling/enforcing end of things
Agnostic (until she meets Flemeth) but pretends to be Andrastrian for pragmatic reasons
Templars (conscripted)
Restore order, make a profit for herself, doesn't much care what the Inquisition turns into in the long run unless she can figure out a way to make it more profitable to her than returning to the Carta.
Zhenya (the one in my profile pic)
Warrior-S&S-Champion
Dagna
No, she was grabbed by the Carta as a child, hated the violence of working as an enforcer and usually managed to limit her work to guarding shipments
Andrastrian
Mages (allied)
Restore order, try to make some lasting changes for ordinary Theodsans, eventually have the Inquisition turn a force something like the Seekers of Truth, but monitoring mages, Templars (or their replacements), AND the Chantry for corruption. Maybe also investigating and dealing with places where the veil is thin enough that spirits and demons are crossing.
I haven't really worked out details on my other dwarves yet, and what I think I'm going to do in advance isn't always what I do in game. Oh, I suppose I can include my fictional one (not from an actual PT)
Zheeva'
Rogue-Dual-Tempest
Adan (obviously non-canon)
Her father used her as collateral for loans, forced to work both as a smuggler and alchemist for the Carta, knows how to actually process raw lyrium. Hates the Carta, but never saw a way out until now.
Andrastrian
Mages (allied)
Restore order, try to make some lasting changes particularly in the Chantry; sees the Inquisition as evolving into a force dealing with rogue mages (not apostates, but those committing crimes,) etc. but with Templars (or rather people with Templars' skills), mages, and ordinary soldiers cooperating to do so.
Yes, yes. So many awesome dwarves.
The well thought out back stories for your dwarves are especially great to read. Really brings more depth to the character and makes them stand out and be unique.
Yay! I'm always up for discussing my quizzies!Name: AlcinaSpecialization: Champion SnS (cause it's good to be Champion)Romance: Iron BullCarta Life: She loved it thanks to her family having quite a bit of power in the Carta. She got to know the business in her late teens/early twenties and she took to it but smuggling wasn't for her. While the family preferred she stick with what they did, they didn't stop her from deadlier pursuits (if she wanted and within reason).Believer: YesSided with: Templars (allied)Goal: Her goal was always to stand up for the downtrodden once she embraced the Inquisition. She initially didn't want to have anything to do with it but her tune changed when she saw how refugees were being displaced in the Hinterlands. She can't stand seeing someone who can't fight for themselves being mistreated. She tends to step up when situations call for it or people need it so she did what she thought was right for the `underdogs`. This thinking leads to some interesting and conflicting thoughts on the Carta as a whole (she's definitely an anomaly in some ways) but I'll save it for another discussion.
I really like how Alcina is the "carta princess." That would most certainly color her perspective on the Carta, enjoying the benefits and the wealth that comes with being a high end member. However, I also like how the events of the Hinterlands shaped her, and her view on the Inquisition and how that would guide her moving forward. Great character building.
Good idea! Let's discuss our awesome dwarves!
Name: FjalarSpecialization: Assassin DWRomance: CassandraCarta Life: Fjalar has always hated his life in the Carta. His family is influent, but being the youngest of six siblings, he has always been considered like the runt of the litter even at work: he's not as strong as his brother Dulin, not as ruthless as his brother Marak, not as sneaky as his brother Baern, not as manipulative as his brother Eol and, ultimately, not as brave as his sister Hlin, who has decided to leave the organization behind and start a new life for herself. His own job as an arts smuggler was simple enough but kept him busy and away from home, which is everyone's favorite way.Religion: AndrastrianSided with: Mages (Conscripted)Goal: Fjalar's goal for the Inquisition is rather idealistic: he wants it to help to South Thedas' reconstruction, and to make it the ultimate beacon of good, hope and justice for everyone. He's not naive though, and is well aware it will be a difficult thing to reach. In the meanwhile, he'll keep his eyes on the East and the Qun.
Wow, Fjalar has a lot of siblings and they all seem like really interesting characters. I had never even thought about siblings for Cadash, and I like how his family has shaped him and his views on the Carta. Sounds like a rough childhood for him, but good to hear how he still wants to help South Thedas and has remained rather idealistic despite how he was raised.

All three of these inquisitors sound like great characters. What really jumps out is how Zhenya was grabbed by the Carta as a child. That would've made for quite the childhood and definitely had a hand in shaping her perspective. And nothing wrong with adding a bit more then the game allows such as romancing Adan. I remember in Origins, I headcanon that one my Wardens end up with Ser Cauthrien. It's always fun to think outside the box. ![]()
I always like learning about other inquisitors/dwarves.
Name: Cespar Cadash
Born: Dragon, 16
Age: 25
Accent: Dwarven (American)
Personality: Carefree, jokester/prankster, loyal, and blunt.
Specialization: Artificer/Bow
Romance: Lady Pentaghast
Carta's life: Cespar enjoyed the late night runs and always living on the edge. He would eagerly await the next mission wondering what adventures it would bring. The Carta helped Cespar honed his skills as an archer, even if they thought a dwarf with a bow was a joke. He proved them wrong on numerous occasions when he had saved their lives thanks to the bow. But, he couldn't save everyone life. His father, Gallgin, was killed by darkspawns in a Carta meet up in the Deeproads. This hurt Cespar, but he knew that his father would want him to take the place as protector for his mother, Inlea.
A year later, Cespar was back to the same old womanizer. He still jumped at every chance he could get when it came to running a mission for the Carta. Cespar was determined to get him and his mother out of the slums of Ostwick.
Religion: Casual Andrastian.
Sided with: Templars (allied).
Goals:
• Close the Breach.
• Don't fall in love.
• Make connections.
• Don't become a leader.
• Make a quick escape once the Breach is closed.
• Have Nugstew.
• Jump on top of Iron Bull's head.
• Rub Solas' head.
• Make Cassandra laugh.
• Protect his little brother Cole.
• Beat Varric in Wicked Grace.
Nice Cadash, Cespar!
My new dwarf is an archer and will be an artificer. I like that combo. It's gonna be fun.
Hahaha, "dwarf with a bow? A joke." Good to see your Cadash set them straight.
Like the added backstory about his father being lost to darkspawn and his goal of helping his mom out. Even Carta boys love their mommas.
And some of his goals are admirable and hilarious. ![]()
I will share a brief bio for my inquisitor also.
Name: Ulrich
Specialization: Templar Sword & Shield
Romance: Iron Bull, then Dorian
Carta Life: Felt pressured by family (I presumed he was the son of the leader), learned martial skill and negotiating. As a noticeably reluctant member, he was placed into a position of meetings and organizing. He was also too devout for the clan's liking. Becoming the Herald was a dream come true.
Religion: Andrastrian
Sided with: Templars (allied)
Goal: He wanted to restore the Chantry and order. He believed he was touched by Andraste, and in becoming an important agent of the faith, he put everything back the way it was, Circle and all. Well, almost everything...he helped a mage become Divine.
Another dwarf exclusive comment:
When in the sunken caverns and you encounter the nugs, Cole mentions that dwarves don't remember themselves. A dwarf inquisitor will interject saying "You're saying I don't remember myself?" and Cole goes all "Yes? No?"
Also, If you are a dwarf, during Cass' romance quest, the dwarf bookseller will say "about time the humans finally did something smart and put a dwarf in charge."
Dwarf Inquisitor, sealing Breaches.
Because we dwarf doesn't need power from any fancy orb. ![]()
I think I can post this here too, since it's featuring Fjal': a vid of the Cassandra romance with french voices. In case you guys were curious of how the characters sound in another language. Maybe I'll add the rest later.

I'm recording my Pentash's romance. I'll like to hear more of this, so you should post more. Please.

Second discussion in Haven, woot!
Woot! I'm new here, just thought I'd show my support for DA dwarves!
I recently started playing DAI after finishing the other two games in the series, and so far I'm loving every minute of it. My first playthrough is as a dwarf, and sadly I didn't realize how awesome dwarves are until now, because I never played one in DAO
. I love the Carta background in DAI, and it feels strangely satisfying to play a character with a shady past. Playing as a human noble in DAO, I felt like a giant Mary Sue (loved the game though). DA2 was not as bad in that department, because I got to troll my way through all the conversations ![]()
Anyway....I thought I'd share my very first inquisitior, dwarf DW rogue Friga Cadash. I wanted her to look realistic and badass - I'm not sure if I succeeded, but at least she has a bumpy nose (I love making bumpy noses) and doesn't look like a supermodel.

More under the tag..
Anyway - off to romance the pants off Blackwall! (FIIIIIINALLY, Bioware gives us a manly hairy romance option. ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME!!!) ![]()

Welcome! Oh, it's completely worth going back to DAO to play a Dwarf Commoner-Brosca, then, if you like a shady past. You get to actually play as part of the Carta, and the later stuff in Orzammar makes a lot more sense and is a lot more personal. I also recommend having Shale and Morrigan along for as much of the Orzammar conversations as possible...

Oooh, nice! I'll definitely do that, once I've played through DAI. Thanks for the tip! ![]()

I second this. It's like a grand story to watch the casteless dwarf saves the very people that doesn't acknowledge his existence. This is the very same reason why Cadash appeals so much to me. People look at Cadash and thinks thug and up to no good.

I actually try to play my character like she really IS a thug and up to no good
And it's glorious! She's not evil though. But she's not ashamed of her violent life in the Carta, doesn't really care about templar vs. mages (both sides have their faults, she'd rather not take any sides), doesn't care for the chantry and religion in general, and thinks the whole herald of Andraste-business is a load of bull****. Nobody seems to care though ("yeeeah, suuuuure, you're not the herald (yes you are)") ![]()
Ahh, Bioware, you've got me hooked yet again. My boyfriend thinks I'm an addict. He's probably right; I'm not being very social these days ![]()

I vary up the personalities. I have a rogue who doesn't really believe in anything and is manipulating the Andrastrians for all she's worth (not evil as much as exploiting opportunities.) Not as much the violent side of the Carta as the "marketing" side.I've done the denial thing with one of my Dalish, and there really isn't much fun to it since they mostly ignore it. So I'd rather get the advantages that come with being "devout" while lying through her teeth in headcannon. My warrior, though, is a devout Andrastrian who hated the Carta, but she rather enjoys using a sword on people who deserve it.

Wow, I should have thought of that.. Just lie and manipulate!
because like you say; most people just ignore her when she says she's not the herald, so her denying it seems to have very little consequence..and that's no fun. Next time I'll do stuff differently!
Dagon Cadash:
I made him months ago, but I think this is the first time I am sharing him in this thread. Currently sharing his playthrough with pics in the "What did you do" thread by Sporkfu since he was created. I will admit that he does sort of resemble my previous Dwarf, Thegrath. Their noticeable feature being their cheekbones. They do not share anything else besides skin complexion and high cheekbones. Every thing else is different. Oh, and he is in a romance with Dorian.
