Don't mind me, I'm just twiddling my thumbs over here awaiting DLC.
Hope everyone is well!

So, finally trying out some mods though I haven't played much yet (been busy watching my fiance finally play a run through it with his human). Got some mods that change the Skyhold/beginning armor for everyone, including Carta armor for dwarves. Remade Dorn again because I'm just addicted to dwarves right now. While I was recreating him though, I decided to see what his face looks like without the beard (I usually add that first before adjusting his jaw and chin). This was the result:

I still like him better with the beard, but damn... I had no idea I'd inadvertently created a dwarven male model, haha.

Love him. Brilliant idea on the mod that switches to Carta armor from the get-go.

Oh damn, he's really good looking!
And I agree with Gilsa, that mod is a brillant idea. The mercenary armor at the beginning is so ugly. ![]()

For some reason, that potato bag(aka Merc Armor)has grown on me. I regret ever discarding it.

Glad to see you're still around. Someone in the no spoiler thread was wondering about the size of the origins dwarves compared to the inquisition dwarves. I know you put up a picture like that in this thread.

Hah, I remember complaining about the width so I typed in "width" for the thread search and found the post easily. Feel free to direct link to the images and use the examples for your own. I'm still around -- summer vacation is crazy busy with kids cooped up in the house. ![]()

That armor is stupidly hard to acquire with the dropped version being leather-only. I've only found two wearable copies for my warrior -- the one we start out with and the other from going undercover with Iron Bull in Skyhold (the scene where you grunt at two soldiers). That one will show up in inventory afterwards, but it's easy to overlook it and sell it with the dungeon junk.

Lovely commission of your dwarf, Merela! (Remind me to PM you on Origin sometime soon... it's been a while!)

I'm actually fond of the default merc armor too. However, I love the idea of the Inquisitor having armor that makes a bit more sense for their different backgrounds, like the Carta armor for the dwarf, or Dalish armor for Lavellan. I used a combination of this mod and this mod to get Dorn in Carta armor from the get-go.

I'm glad you people are liking that picture as well!
(Between his dad and his mom, Little Anthony will have the most marvellous cheekbones in all Thedas!)

(Gods yes! We've both been so busy.
But it's a deal!)
I actually like the armor itself, but it's the color that bothers me. That green is an offense to the Maker and His Bride. ![]()

I actually like the green, too.
But I still prefer having distinct outfits for different origins, and I'm glad there are mods now that will change that. I just hope the next DLC doesn't break the mod manager again... ![]()
Anyway, I've decided to headcannon that Dorn in his early 20s to circa time of the Blight looks like he does above (sans scar) and his Carta brethren would mockingly call him "Pretty Boy." He got sick of the nickname and grew his beard... then his comrads just started calling him "Pom" (short for Paragon of Manliness). Also annoying, but much less so. He's actually kind of fond of his scar and the broken nose it caused because once he got those, his team just started calling him "Cadash."

Also the burden of pretty dwarven boys! Growing beards so they'll stop being so cute and all! ![]()

What colors do you like for your dwarves? The Legion of the Dead armor is pretty limiting as it only changes the trim colors while leaving the rest silver. I suspect that most of us would be dying it black like the original version if we could. As for the Carta coat, I haven't seen much variety among the NPC Carta. Some like Bianca are mostly brown. The Carta in Valammar go with black and red. The Carta Coat at level 4 is surprisingly different with the teal colors.

In my headcanon, her family's colors are red and gray (immediate family members use red as their main and gray as their trim and the family's crew/workers/team/etc. wearing the opposite). I preferred her in red and white so I used bloodstone and nug skin or imperial vestment cotton I think (whichever leather or cloth gives you white). Or at least I think I tinted the loincloth on the front...need to fire up the X1 to confirm.

For Reska - silver/grey/grey blue or browns
For Zhenya - black, red, gold, green (preferably the latter two)

What?
No Deep Roads DLC?
I thought that was what they had been hinting at.
I wanted to learn more dwarf lore. Not to mention, Deep Roads would be awesome/creepy to explore with the Frostbite Engine.

So, backstory idea:
What if my character actually fought the Hero of Ferelden? They were one of the idiots you slaughtered your way through when taking down Jarvia... Except they survived. Barely. Sometimes you can survive sword and dagger wounds, especially if it was a big fight where you'll move right onto the next opponent as soon as an enemy drops and they're not doing any throat cutting to be sure (my warden certainly wasn't the type to do that). They would have been 16-18 at that time, making them roughly between 26 and 28 years on in DAI. I'm not going to pretend my Cadash was some badass back then, they were just one of the dozens of dwarves you cut down with little effort. Because of that, they have a bit of a grudge against them because all they knew of the HoF was that they showed up and killed or seriously injured pretty much every person in the carta because they were one of Bhelen's tools. What's that Dagna? It was a dark time and there was only one light? Yeah, well that light left me with a 15 inch scar across my entire torso and killed friends of mine all for political gain. But still, they do soften up about them after hearing everyone talk about how good they were and Morrigan saying that he's a good person who is a good father and all that stuff. And then (headcanon'd conversation here) Leliana tells them about how one of their ancestors in the body of a golem helped the HoF and was actually the golem they had fighting alongside them in the carta base. Somehow, knowing a living ancestor of theirs helped them do it is the final push that lets them let go of their internal grudge against them. After all, for a dwarf who still does ancestor worship having one of your ancestors help to kick your ass might be a holy sign that you deserved it. And even my dwarf will have to admit that the HoF was pretty impressive, the way they effortlessly took his overconfident ass down in the span of a second was actually pretty amazing when he thinks about it.
You like it? I'm thinking about doing this for my next playthrough, my first male character (dwarf, obviously).

Look like the upcoming DLC is going to involve the Qunari. Maybe they're finally going to go invade Thedas. I don't think we ever learned about how the Qunari view the dwarves. I'm hoping for some more reaction on the races in the DLC.

I think there was a suggestion that the Deep Roads would be the next DLC, then the qunari invasion would be the last. TBH, I'm not that enthusiastic about either myself, since there's a lot of hints and/or speculation that the qunari invasion will involve killing off the IQ, sigh (the speculators seem to have some evidence that I haven't seen yet.) I'm not impressed with killing off protags as a repeating theme to avoid having to account for them in the future and it would seriously put me off trying the next DA game (why spend the money when you already know it'll just be the same plot in the long run?)

Killing my character?! Oh hell no. I'll refuse to get that DLC and consider it "didn't do it and it didn't happen" non-canon, if that's the case.
