Neverwinter isn't really a fun game without a group of people playing with you. You're going to get bored real fast. There is so much grinding, and the quests aren't very interesting, especially coming from SWTOR and ESO.

I think you still should give it a try, because you may have a different experience than I did.  :)

Bored? Of Inquisition!!? Ok. I'm a little bias towards Inquisition  :P .

Got the body mod set up for athletic female dwarf builds, so I restarted Zhenya's playthrough so I could enjoy it with a shape I liked, and tweaked her appearance a little. I haven't gotten a really good full body pic that can be compared to an earlier one, but this first one isn't bad.

Edit: It's been posted before, but the mod is at http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/605/?

That's actually a lot better. That looks like a dwarf built to take the body blows.

She looks way better in the armor picture than the pajama one. That body just looks way too manly.

Agreed. That looks... Bad. She doesn't have a healthy muscular look, she looks more like she's been taking a lot of steroids. Possibly testosterone injections too.

See, I don't agree, especially since female dwarves should look like children of the stone (solid, strong, like atlas) and not like effing hobbits (think how you'd feel if they'd done to male dwarves what they did to female dwarves.) And that's a mod for an athletic build with, specifically, athletic arms. My own preference would be for slightly less definition in the upper arms and wider shoulders, but I'm much happier with this for my warrior than the DAI body model and I'm very grateful to the modder. I know people point out that there are female weight lifters without obvious shoulder and upper arm development, but ever paid attention to the way weight lifters are grouped? Those women are competing in the lightest weight classes. They could never go head to head with the muscular women in the higher weight classes. Frankly, any IQ I play is someone who is a serious professional at what she does, not someone who giggles and says, oh, you need me to save the world. Well, I suppose my family made me learn to use a sword and shield, and voila, she's magically the most gifted fighter in the world. That's fine if that's what other people want to play, but not something that interests me at all.

Fortunately, since she's my dwarf, the only one who has to be happy with her appearance is me. :P Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed for a mod that gets rid of the annoyingly over-done hip sway for women...

Her arm muscle has a bulge. A literal bulge popping out of her arm, that looks unnatural as hell. Frankly, the girl in that pic looks less like a warrior than the default model does. Most warriors tend to actually have efficient muscles that are toned, not ripped and bulging and huge like fiction would have you believe. Proof? Here's one of the strongest people in the world.

bruce_lee_childhood_photos-%257B1%257D.j

Look at how bulky and large framed he is!... Or not. I get tired of the constant assumption that warriors that small framed with moderate-to-light sized muscle tones are unrealistic, when in reality it's the big bulky warriors that are unrealistic. The body your dwarf has? Very inefficient for a warrior. Like body builders she might have impressive strength. And like them, she'll have absolutely no stamina and will wear out extraordinarily quick. Do some research of people with muscles like that, they tend to be really really REALLY bad at any physical activity that isn't exclusively lifting weights. Your dwarf woman looks like a man with boobs, a man who looks more like a weight lifter than a proper warrior. Especially as a woman. Women DO NOT get builds like that without hormonal supplements. Period. Not dwarven women, no any women. You want to see realistic bodies for strong woman? Actually realistic, as in real actual women? Here-

http://www.toptenz.n...ial-artists.php

Note that all but one of them have nearly the build of your dwarf woman, despite the fact that these women could probably kick your dwarf lady's ass. And the one who has your dwarf's build? Steroid user.

Come on now. You know I've agreed with everyone that the female dwarves look like hobbits in this game. I wasn't attacking you, and I haven't ever before since we've been talking in this thread. The arms are the only thing that look off, especially around the shoulders.

Lol I play on the Xbox, so I wouldn't be able to mod. :P That's all that matters really. As long as you like the character that you're playing with. :)

Well I do agree that dwarven women are too small framed. They were just right in DAO, but changed to be too small in DAI. To quote an old post that showed this perfectly-

The IB/Cadash pairing required a suspension of disbelief on my part, but I really appreciated how they put in the overtime on the cutscenes so IB would be available to all races. I had tears streaming down my face when I saw that they put Cadash on a barrel in the end, like "well, f*** it, there's no way we can make it work" and they just owned it instead of doing the magical float. So I do appreciate the IB romance, despite the obvious physical incompatibility.

And I do like non-racial pairings, but frankly, I've grown uncomfortable with how much they've shrunken down the dwarf female model. I feel like elves got a lot more acceptable because they got taller. They get all the benefits of animations working better and people are more likely to accept the pairing. The dwarf male came through unscathed, but the dwarf female took a nosedive. They got even shorter and lost their overall width, which was the very thing that defined them as dwarves and made them look like believable tanks.

In Origins, the male and female were very nearly equals in terms of height and width. In Inquisition, you can see the difference with Bianca and Varric. She looks like a hobbit now.
dwarf-dwarf_zpsgbirx7mi.png

The dwarf female went up to the human male shoulders and her width was just as wide as the human body. Now look at the dwarf female standing next to Blackwall. The differences look ridiculous. I cringe during some cutscenes because sometimes she looks like she's a child.
dwarf-human_zpsnfpksfmk.png

All they had to do was fix the ape arms from DAO. That was it. =/

But making female dwarves look like roided up men with bulging arm muscles and shoulders wider than a male dwarf's shoulders is DEFINITELY not the right way to go either. That's "fixing" the problem by creating a different and new problem.

Given that the Inquisition character creator lets you put stubble on dwarf women but not human, elf or qunari women, do we actually know that they don't have a naturally higher testosterone level than women of other races?

I find the athletic arms in the mod slightly too bulky, but they're still way better than the noodle arms from the actual game. I'll certainly look into using them next time I play a female dwarf.

I've actually always though that was a coding error. It kinda seems like it would or should be. Even if, that build is still too bulky even for a warrior. Hell, POSSIBLY even for a male dwarf warrior. Maybe, male dwarves were fairly built in DAO (still no muscles literally bulging out of their arm though). Like I said, a proper warrior body isn't going to be big and bulky. Even the biggest and most most muscled warrior in the game, Iron Bull, doesn't have a physical build as thick (proportionately of course) and bulging with muscles as the dwarf woman using that mod. I'm not saying the default model is actually perfect, they arguably should be a little more toned and muscular than the default model has them at... But it's closer to what a true warrior body would look like than that modded body is. The default model is about 80% right looking for a realistic warrior build, while the Incredible Hulk dwarf woman in the screenshot would be about 40% right looking. Fit and strong people will be more lean and toned than most people think, and the muscle heads you think of when you think of a warrior will have the stamina of a 5 year old. Trust me, I've done some reading about body builders before. They can lift a thousand pounds, but make them run or do any other physical activity and they're exhausted and sweating and needing to sit down down for a break within 2 minutes. And that dwarf lady has a body like a body-builder, not a fit and healthy warrior who takes hundred mile marches to other sides of the continent daily and who goes through dozens of enemies per mission.

The stubble for dwarven ladies was added by Bioware because people wanted to be able to add stubbles to their dwarven ladies, actually. :P

Also, I'm commissioned a new pic of Fjal', this time with Cass. Be aware, it's heavily NSFW. I just love the two of them too much.

@EggPlantRed -- That is unbelievably gorgeous. Wow!

@Merela -- Hee hee. =D

The mod is now up to three different body meshes for dwarf females. A lot of players didn't try out the dwarf female in Origins because they couldn't stand the ape arms, but once a mod changed that, people were much happier to give them a whirl and posted more pictures. Tish has been unhappy with the default DF model since the game launched and I have not seen her post this many pictures of her character since she tried out the bulkier mesh. The steroid look is not a deal-breaker when all the females are forced to share sideburns and receding hairlines with their male counterparts.

And I figured the beards were to appeal to the Tolkien crowd because of all the Hobbit movies recently, but I haven't actually seen an interview that clarified this one way or another.

Aye, it is. I think once the dwarf male version is completed, a copy of both genders will be put up at the Nexus like the other races. Can only find this outfit on tumblr for now.

(responding generally, not so much to this one.) Remember, I did say I would have liked a little less upper arm definition in the athletic arms (i.e. not quite so visibly bulgy). And I'd be OK with arms that are only a little above average (rather than noodles like they gave women) as long as I can get a sturdier build. And I wasn't taking offense at anyone, just stating I was disagreeing because, after all, I'm not modding or creating my dwarves to please anyone except myself. I assume dwarven women DO have different hormonal balances (like elven men probably do to be built the way THEY are) and should be broader. However, martial artists may be strong, but not necessarily in the right ways for a heavy weapons fighter. There are different muscles involved. Though I really don't want to spend a lot of time on the subject; suffice it to say that I'm happier with this body type than the hobbit, even if it isn't perfect.

Merela, that's a lovely pic, but you MIGHT want to link to it rather than posting directly. That might get you banned even under a spoiler...

Thanks for that! It's a great day for updating my game, it seems. I've got this Skyhold outfit for my adorable (and deadly) Cadash, and the brand new long hair mod for my sizzling Adaar.

You know what I like best about that outfit? It reminds me strongly of my favorite "dwarf noble" outfit from Origins, with the metal ornaments around the neckline and down the front.

Can't there be an in-between? Some middle ground between steroid using woman using testosterone injections and the default? Why is this something that people have to choose a lesser of 2 evils (though I think the default is the lesser evil)? I hate having to choose between 2 bads. Why can't the person who made the mod make something a little more realistic and healthy-muscular for dwarven women instead of the female version of She-Hulk? Why is the only version of a muscular model have to be at such a ridiculous extreme in the muscular direction?

I'm not just complaining here, I'm trying to offer actual criticism. Right now, to me, that muscular dwarf looks like a messed up abomination. I look at it and all I can think about is how utterly unnatural and wrong it looks. Thicker muscles to have a truly strong and healthy look should use the women in that link I posted as a basis, because that would actually look good.

This is good inspiration-

Make your modded women look closer to that, and you're good. Those are women at peak physical ability, real ones. You can't get better inspiration than them. So more of that, less of She-Hulk?

Ehhh I like the bulky/broad look and agree with Tishina about the arms being kinda off for the mod. They look a bit bulbous and remind me of the weird forearm situation with the SotA armor. Even with that said, I wish I could mod on X1 because that mod is the closest to my imagination for how my Cadash looks.
I imagine Alcina to have a stout but curvy body. She's not slim by any means. Her thighs are thick, her arms are kinda thick, her torso is thick, and she has broad shoulders. To me, she pretty much looks like a DAO dwarf (minus the ape arms) but slightly curvier (I HC that her mom was a little bit hippy and she inherited that). She has defined muscles all over with a bit of a softness but still stout/broad/strong in appearance.

Frankly, I'm just happy the mod even exists. Not a lot of dwarf modding going on as it is anyway. Show some love and maybe more folks will contribute mods for the dwarves. Leave constructive, thoughtful criticism for the modder and maybe they'll consider adding another mod with even more body types based on helpful feedback.

Well, I'm not asking YOU to play her. Sorry if it offends you that not every one wants to meet your definition of "feminine" but I'm basing my decisions on my own preferences. I know lots of women who are broad shouldered and strong looking and every one of them is attractive in my book. I don't play to have a PC who looks sexy for someone else, I want a physically strong woman. Even if they'd kept the DAO body type, there are three other races for someone who doesn't like a woman with broad shoulders; even the female qunari is a delicate twig compared to Iron Bull. Women should have at least one option that isn't at the extreme of body types. I don't mod, so I'll take what I can get and thank the modder profusely. If I were able to mod, I'd give her wider shoulders and chest so she's closer to the male body type, arms only a little heavier than average, and a slightly more defined waist. Possibly more hip and thigh (a lot of a fighter's strength behind blows comes from there anyway).

Why is it acceptable to attack what a woman wants in appearance for her female PCs, but virtually no one does so when it's a male PC? You are just complaining, frankly, because you referred to my PC as a "messed up abomination" and you expect me to accept your preferences over my own. Sorry, the women you posted look good to you; to me they'd make a good rogue body type, but not a warrior. I still have major issues with mages in the game looking as if they power lift farm animals all day rather than slender and only minimally muscled.

@andy6915 -- From what I've seen, the modder is super accommodating and has been making modifications when people have requested changes. The arms are a separate mesh. If you wanted the bulky body, but slimmer arms, you can mix and match. This picture is a good example:

http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/605/?

605-0-1436298118.jpg

And Eggplant is right, there's barely any dwarf modding going on right now. And the surprising thing is that when there ARE mods that get put out for dwarves, those modders get flack from unhappy dwarves and it discourages them from wanting to make any more for a race that they don't even play in the first place. Couple examples below. There have been more, but I don't remember where else I've seen them:

Really tempted to remove the dwarves modded hair after getting a couple of anonymous hate mail for it -_-

I know there are some issues with both of them. No need to remind me that they are shitty.
I don’t hate dwarves either.

Both were difficult to convert and adjust to their head shape.

I will work on it and update the files when I have time but now… I don’t know if I should even bother.

http://milabanilla.t...ves-modded-hair

Anonymous whispered:

There's a better ponytail hair mod than yours. And it has dwarf version that looks nice too. Sucks to be you, huh?

Now I remember why I turned off anonymous in the first place.

I didn’t know modding was a ****** competition. I’m still a novice in the modding community.

Are you the same person who called me a dwarf hater?

If you don’t like my mods, don’t use it.

This **** ain’t cool. Leave me alone.
