Hi all, new here. DAI go me into dwarves, (first char was a fem cadash.)

Just curious for male dwarf chars. which face shape do you use the most? I find the first one to be easiest to get an appealing look while still looking "dwarven" THe second is my least fave as it just seems to small for the body model.

For my dwarf, I used the first preset and while I changed a lot about the skin, eyes, nose, and mouth, I kept the cheekbones, brow and jawline mostly the same, as it said "dwarf" most strongly to me. I didn't want my dwarf to look too much like a small human, so I wanted to keep a lot of the strong, angular and "heavy" features of traditional dwarven males, and that preset worked well for it.

For my dwarf, I used the first preset and ended up with a male dwarf that's pretty much identical to the one that Merela posted earlier in the thread... save for my Cadash having darker brown hair, rocking some guyliner and a casteless brand.

I usually use the first or second preset. They start out with prominent jaws and cheekbones, rather fitting for a dwarf.

I think the dwarf males have good selection of presets to choose from. I've used #2 and #4 as models for my screenshots (if I made a mod or need to use a male to illustrate a game outfit, etc). My personal male dwarf is from #3 -- changed the face shape and then the rest were cosmetic (colors, scars, etc). I like him because he reminds me of Paul from Orange County Choppers. (Haven't finished his game yet, but one day I will. It's a world state with Brosca fathering the OGB and I damn well want to see if Keiran ever acknowledges his racial heritage in future games.)

Spoiler

Out of all these, #4 is my favorite because he has the intimidation factor and reminds me of Al Pacino (might need a few tweaks, but you get the idea).

I could totatally see a dwarf Pacino in the carta!

btw I do miss those cool beards from the first game, these arent bad but dont have that intricate look the original dwarf beards had. Plus im running it on xbox360 so facial hair looks like they glued sheets of plastic to their faces.

Hello Dwarflings!

I was wondering if any of you have actually re-done your cannon dwarf stories. Because I am thinking about starting over with mine. Making different decisions etc. So any input would be much appreciated!

I actually did. (Normally I don't change major decisions.) I had thought the alliance with the qunari would be important so I made Bull sacrifice the Chargers. The second game (on a different character), I saved them and thought the quality of the game was so much better. I didn't want Tallis all over my war table and I thought the Chargers brought such warmth and personality to the game that it was worth saving them from here on out.

I was thinking about a fresh Dwarf run also. I ended up with a  hardened Leliana as Divine and a puppet Celene on the Throne, there also a few other small things i would like to do different also.

I probably won't replay my 'canon' Inquisitor until a few months before DA4 comes out - it's how I manage to get through that last stretch of waiting before NEW GAME OMG.

I have a rule about not changing major decisions when I replay unless it's to remove metagaming. (Not that there's anything wrong with changing the story to one you like better! But I find that I enjoy it more if I live with my mistakes.) For example, my 'canon' Hawke only recruited Fenris because I realised that I'd done all the quests I could find in Act I and hadn't met him - she didn't need the money or have any interest in smuggling lyrium. So when I played her again I turned down the quest and never met him.

However, I always like to go back and do all the side quests that I inevitably miss on the first time through. Not to mention that by then I should have every schematic in the game unlocked from the beginning ...

Heh, I hear ya. I think another reason why I made that change was that I wasn't sure if companion missions counted as a major decision. Certainly not of the level of choosing who to put on the throne, that kind of thing.  (This was before seeing how consequences played out in Trespasser, which certainly has many, many people re-evaluating all the choices they've made in their game now.)

Edit: Oh, and I've been replaying my game lately. I am enjoying the toggle on class abilities now. Abilities that I thought were boring before now have some oomph to them and they're back on my spell bar. I've also turned on a couple of trial options (via the options menu if you didn't notice them before). I'm doing the one where enemies always scale to my level, which keeps things interesting. Running through Hinterlands is no longer boring, that's for sure. I also have turned on the ability for enemies to have interesting spells or abilities. So far, it has only bugged out a couple of times. One NPC in a dungeon kept regenerating his guard like crazy and I had a feeling that wasn't supposed to work this way. When my party finally wiped and I fought it again, it went much smoother. Haven't had any surprises for special shipments yet -- not sure how long I need to play with trials before I get my rewards, but keeping my eyes peeled.

I constantly replay Nasir's story, and right now I'm having him do the Templar side of things. It's not how things go in my personal hc world-state, but I did want to do the Templar side at least once.

It's an area blocked by rubble with some gaatlok barrels beside it, and you'll need to get the Anchor upgrade that comes later to be able to move through it. Once you get it, backtrack to the Deep Roads first chance you get.

Wait, what??? Where is this?? I just finished Descent! Oh, is it in Trespasser? OK, then, I'll watch for it...

Bit of an off-topic comment, but I wish this thread were called "Dwarf Enthusiast Thread" or "Dwarf Fan Thread" or even just "Dwarf Thread." "Dwarf Support" sounds like we have a problem and come here seeking help. lol "Um... I like playing a dwarf. Somebody help me!" Or like dwarves can't hack it without a little support. Not the way I play my dwarves... B)

That's exactly what I said many pages ago. If this thread ever becomes locked, one of us has to come up with a decent title. The alternative is that we can contact the person who started this thread and ask nicely if the title can be changed. We'd need to pick one out first.
