Hey Gilsa, I have sort of a large request. Could you pull from DAO all the dialogue that would arise for a Dwarf Commoner returning to Orzammar were they to talk to people like Nerav Helmi (Danaduchy's video doesn't quite cover that IIRC) and were a DC to side with Harrowmont? There probably won't be as much for that side but I'm curious about everything Harrowmont might say to a DC.
1. I remembered that I posted DC with Harrowmont earlier. Here's the link to the post: http://forum.bioware...8#entry19058538
2. I will look up Nerav and others soon.
3. I saw an earlier post from you mentioning that you couldn't get toolset to work on your PC. Is this a software compatibility issue or not being sure how to navigate the toolset? I had to have someone show me before it clicked and I'd be happy to toss up a few screenshots of how to get the info you want. I know you'd be in nerd heaven if you were able to read everything yourself.

OK, this is the only part that I can see Nerav addressing a dwarf commoner for sure. I'll post the other section that I'm unclear on.
Nerav: "Did you see that? I cannot believe what this city has come to. This would never have happened when Endrin was alive." (VO: Lamenting the sad state of affairs.)
Brosca: "What do you know about this Lord Harrowmont?"
Nerav: "You're from the surface? I thought with all your finery ... but I suppose that explains the ... mark on your face. From long ago, I suppose." (VO: A little awkwardly, was told something she wasn't expecting.)
Nerav: "Lord Harrowmont should be our king! He was King Endrin's closest advisor, the only one he could trust." (VO: Passionately.)
I am unclear if this part fires for the dwarf commoner because if you look at "scripting comments," it means the line is intended for a dwarf noble. This could be mislabeled by accident.
You can compare it to the special conversation the dwarf noble gets when greeting Nerav.

Hmm, could both of those be intended for the DN but depend on whether you actually killed Trian or not and/or whether or not you convinced Harrowmont that you were innocent? Though she asks about the brand, so that does suggest it was intended for the DC instead. Weird. I know I've heard both lines, though.

Actually accessing the first name that the player chose... It's a beautiful thing...

I heard a Laidlaw interview where he said he was busy lately playing TW3 and liking it. It's already ironic given the odd player-loyalty tendencies that don't even correspond with dev behavior, but since TW3 apparently "does DA" in terms of well-thought-out side mission stories (and out-does it compared with DAI), it's ironic on multiple levels. That said, I seem to be a de facto Biodrone since I can't seem to get into TW at all.

I'm looking to create a bearded female dwarf? Did any of you create one? I'm looking for inspiration if you wouldn't mind PM'ing screenshots, or posting them here.
My Inquisitor Cadash
Is that a mod to allow dwarves access to the mage class?

You can Google Image it. I did- not a huge amount there, but quite a few. There was a discussion earlier on in this thread about it, but that was before the game came out, so I'm not sure yet if anyone followed up on it and posted DAI pics of bearded dwarf girls, but it's possible some did in the thread at maybe pg60 onward.
I'd like to know about a dwarf mage mod myself, but Google isn't turning up any DAI mods for it...

My Inquisitor Cadash ...
Very cool.
You could probably justify a dwarven inquisitor gaining mage powers as a result of the Anchor, which gives its bearer a uniquely powerful connection to the Fade, regardless of race.
For that reason I'd probably try this mod out were I not a lowly console gamer. lol

Thanks. I ended up looking on Google images for bearded female dwarves from various other franchises.
What I came up with:
I've wanted a bearded female dwarf for a Blackwall romance. This romance will end happily, while my Blackwall x Trev will end bitterly.

So after like what, a year? I finally have my own PC and it can run DAI.
Renewed Catina Cadash!
I have a bit of beef though.
Did the devs get lazy with scaling the armor on lady dwarves?DAT AWFUL STOMACH-BOOB!
I'm guessing it's canon that lady dwarves have large, pendulous breasts. ![]()

I'm not sure there is a mod actually. I checked out the links above and (well, one didn't work for me, but the other) seemed to simply be allowing any race/class to use any weapon. I'd just like that mod for my warrior to be able to use a bow to hunt T1 leather in Haven, but it doesn't give dwarves access to mage spells, just lets them wield a staff (with an animation that apparently resembles whatever their main weapon normally is).

Glad to have helped! What got you interested in a bearded dwarf girl? It's interesting to me just because it's different, but I'd never run with one. If that's your character, she's definitely unique- a lot further along the Krem line than Krem. Love the Aeducan Legion of the Dead armor on her.

I like the DAO female dwarves' physique MUCH better, especially since it was much closer to the male dwarves. Until I got a body mod, I felt like I was playing a d****d hobbit instead of a dwarf in DAI, sigh.

Ha! That's exactly what I've said elsewhere- that it's like they made halfling girls to go with dwarf guys, like they got self-conscious about it or something- which can't make reproduction a pleasant prospect for dwarf women- heh. It's not that they have to look more like the guys, just more stocky and heavy-boned- Stone People and all, not just "little people." I never used the mod in DAO that shrinks arm length either- vanilla having worked well for reach purposes in combat especially. Dwarf girls in DAO were badass and incidentally sexy. And I recall Gaider feeling awkward about dwarf romances after seeing a dwarf girl designed like a young'un do one, but DAI dwarf girls look even younger.
What mod are you using? I'd definitely give it a try.

Custom Body Models
http://www.nexusmods...tion/mods/605/?
Several options for changing appearance (it made a huge difference in how I felt about my dalish which were almost painful for me to play.) I've considered modding my qunari male rogue to a leaner shape too.
This is the dwarven female broad frame with athletic arms:

It doesn't change her hugely, but her shoulders are in much better proportion to her hips. I don't think the modders can alter their size much more, but at least now, she has the kind of shoulders I'd expect to see on someone whose race is specifically known for upper body strength and crafts like forging. The arm definition is a tiny bit more than I'd prefer, but at least she does clearly have upper arm strength now. I haven't noticed any problems with clipping, but the Blackwall romance scenes, except for the dance, already screw with height so much that clipping wouldn't make it much worse to watch
. Even with the mod, I prefer the DAO shapes.
I really have no idea what they were thinking when they redesigned the female dwarves; probably they simply defaulted to something that put her in the same width range as humans and elves for the romance scenes to make it easier for them, sigh. Then widened the hips a little so they clearly had an adult woman's hips...

Matt Goldman, Art Director for DA2: "So humans, we're all familiar with what good-looking humans look like, in theory, but everybody's got their own preference. So elves are a lot more slender; they're like the running--my joke is that it's the magazine, so humans, that's men's fitness; elves, running magazines, they're lithe, they can go forever; Dwarves they don't read magazines, they don't really care, but they're tough, stout...they're the "strongest man in the world", they're the guy that can throw a beer keg over a house. Female Dwarves are cute, curvy little roller-derby girls, and so on and so forth like that. So that's the actual physicality of them."

I know many want dwarves to be cute, but I kinda prefer the "gruffy" dwarf.
I also liked the "gorilla" arms of dwarven women from DAO. Different races should have aspects that make them unique, not so much homogeneously cute and attractive, esp since this usually applies just to the female versions of all races.

Pretty much ever since I realized that beards stubble were an option. I just couldn't get it right with my first dwarf, Helga.

With my new dwarf gal, and yes, that's my little creation, I was going more what I had in my mind as more traditionally dwarven. (I also enjoy the versatility of the game's CC. Even though some people prefer to make similarly attractive characters for multiple playthroughs, the CC is capable of great diversity in facial features) I love those Tolkien concept images form the Hobbit that have bearded dwarf ladies. I hope Bioware expands on the beard options next game, and allows the players to give dwarf ladies Blackwall beards! I want ribbons, and gems to decorate the facial hair, too!

So we can blame this individual for the extreme sexual dimorphism of dwarves? Ignoring the fact that virtually everything written in the past about dwarves suggests they should have the least difference in body types, not such a division that they look like completely different races, sigh. I'd make snarky comments, but it wouldn't do any good because men who design women solely for their own gaze (within extremely distorted and limited ideas of beauty) while designing men for their own macho he-man fantasies isn't going to hear anything that's said anyway. ![]()
Also, now I'm worried we really will never see a dwarf that isn't forced into one or two very narrow and unattractive stereotypes, sigh. I was not envisioning dwarves as the redneck illiterates of Thedas (with Varric and Dagna as almost the only exceptions.)
I know many want dwarves to be cute, but I kinda prefer the "gruffy" dwarf.

I did too. And yes, different races should look really different. They went as far as giving us beard stubble for female dwarves, but Maker forbid the females otherwise step outside the narrow limits they define as attractive on human women...
*grumble, grumble* OK, so I did make snarky comments
. But if the game was more moddable, it wouldn't matter that someone's got a huge blind spot for all the other attractive shapes and sizes of women...
