The fourth volume of Les Nains will be released at the end of the month and I finally realize I've totally forgotten to speak of volume 3 here. Le me is sorry. Anyway, here it is:

So The Order of the Temple (which really reminded me of the Shaperate, since they're mostly scholars and builders). They also deal with esoteric mysteries, for better and for worse. Definitely for the worse in Aral's opinions, who we meet as an old dwarf exiled in a lighthouse who has decided to write his memories "to leave a mark". Memories who bring us back during his days as a young member of the Order of the Temple. A golden cube covered with esoteric has just been dug out from the bowels of a fortress-state somewhere in the south, so the Order of the Temple is sent there to investigate. Except the evil is already awakening, and it shows the darkest face of the dwarf people. For Aral, troubles are only starting.
(As always, if anyone wants a translation, please let me know).
I admit, this volume is not my favorite but it was still an excellent read (and Aral is cute, and as usual: dwarves everywhere!). However the whole story is dark, much darker than the stories of the previous volumes, which actually came as a surprise since neither Redwin's and Ordo's lives were a happy time to begin with. But there was still hope, if only glimpses. Not so much for Aral.
Anyway, there were good news for that series: five volumes were planned at first, but the selling numbers were high enough for the editor to allow the scriptwritter to work on five more. 10 volumes of dwarven goodness, I couldn't be happier.
Next volume will be about the Orders of the Wanderers, who seem to be the equivalent of Casteless. Should be interesting!
