Break the mold and use a bow!
Also, are crossbows exclusive to Varric?
I think they are ? Would be pretty epic having a crossbow wielding archer.
I suppose i could have a dwarven archer tempest and a dual daggers qunari tempest.

So fellow dwarf enthusiasts...
Should my dwarf wield daggers or a bow?
The spec will be Tempest
I only say this based on your handle -- go with a bow. It will feel closer to a mage with attacking from a distance along with being able to summon fancy AoEs (Hail of Arrows from DA2, from what I remember). You could pretend some kinship or rivalry with Varric as you compare weapons. =p
I wanna play a bow rogue, but the lure of the tempest spec is toooo strong LOL
I think bows, I think elves

Dwarves are awesome. I hope we get to explore kal'sharok at some point
Y'all are alright making that precious precious Lyrium, Cullen would agree with me I'm sure.
It's the Makers work afterall.....or whatever You Dwarves choose to believe in.
what'll happen to the surface if the lyrium stops?
I mean, I know things would fall apart, but still.....
without lyrium no potions, no weapon/armor echantments, templars are screwed....

The carta makes even more money with it's product, that's what will happen. Heck, they're probably already trading with the red templars, since the chantry isn't going to be supplying them with lyrium.

That seems unlikely, Red Lyrium drives whoever is near it crazy eventually, and I doubt the carta wants to lose its members to insanity. Also from what we are shown The Red Templars are making their own Red Lyrium stones with some kind of power they possess. You see what they did to some castle in one of the demo, resurrecting Red Lyrium veins from out of the ground and warping the facilities around them.

Yeah, I'm not clear on this yet either. It's sounded at times as if the carta was involved in red lyrium smuggling, but it also sounds as if once you get it, there's no problem producing more.
I…I… I made my Hawke enemies with Varric in The Keep!!! Now my inquisitor can be best friends with Varric!
Now reading about the Red Lyrium, what if people blame the Red Templars on the dwarves? Varric and Hawke were with the group of merchant dwarves that found it. Plus we're part of the Carta, and we may had sold Red Lyrium to the Templars, but now the only problem is not going mad when touching it. But nothing big ever happen to Varric, so it's all confusing for now.
He has the plot armor, but it'll be interesting to see how giving Varric a shard of Red Lyrium could affect him in DAI, and there is also an option for that in the Keep. ![]()
Playing DAO again, this time with the male DN I created recently, and running through the Origin story a second time makes me even more suspicious of Harrowmont than I was the first time. Only King Endrin and Harrowmont knew that your character would be going back to that crossroads after retrieving the shield; even the two men with you who lie about what happened (assuming you don't actually kill Trian) wouldn't have known that unless one of them told them. There's not even a good reason for them to know you were going all the way to Aeducan Thaig in the first place. Maybe I've become too dwarvishly suspicious, but I think it's possible that Harrowmont tipped Trian off about the plan, hoping one child would get killed and the other implicated for the murder. Harrowmont didn't count on Trian to tell Bhelan, allowing Bhelan to set both brothers up and leave himself looking innocent (Harrowmont probably had something else in mind for Bhelan later). Harrowmont doesn't exactly rally to try to get you a fair hearing in front of the Assembly (which was what made me suspicious the first time I played through cold).
I think I may have just worked out a reason to side (reluctantly) with Bhelan over Harrowmont. ![]()
I loved playing dwarven characters in DAO, but admit to not being too fond of the new female dwarf look. Yes the long arms now being normal is good, but when I saw our favourite bundle of murder standing next to the female inquisitor in Skyhold, I thought that she looked like a human child. Male dwarves still have that stocky muscular look.
Also a little sad that there are so few braided hairstyles...is it just the one or is there a second one hiding? When there are 8 different crew cuts...
Anyway aiming for my second playthrough with a female Cadash, Dual daggers/Tempest.
DWARVES ARE THE SUPERIOR MASTER RACE.

Edric, the default male dwarf name?

Possibly, the wiki doesn't mention it. Female default is Malika.
Still not sure if Artificer or Tempest. I would love to see a video on Artificer to check if they need to sneak a lot.

I assumed the red templars were turning normal lyrium into red lyrium, which means they still require the basic stuff in order to make their high quality stash.

You can see at least one Artificer ability in one of the latest streams. Varric is an Artificer!

Hmm, is that a compelling argument to become an Artificer or not?
(Seeing as I might use Varric in my party I mean. Oh wait, I use daggers anyway.)
Lots of cool flips - must come with the explosions. ![]()
