Hmmm, male dwarf in DAO is interesting (reached Lothering now). Though Morrigan calling me a "little man" made me wish I had an appropriate retort...
Maybe not let her tent get cold at night,
. Ahem… that should convince her about the comment "little man." ![]()

You shout it out
But I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm criticized but all your arrows ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up
I'm arrowproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
Cut me down
But it's you who have further to fall
Ghost town, haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm arrowproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
Stone-hard, ballista comes
Firing at the ones who run
Stone-hard, this arrowproof lass
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am Solid Stone
"Ghost town, haunted love" <this line makes me think of what it's like to grow up in a crime family, meaning it might not be very loving)

I posted this in The November Gameplay Video & Interview Mega-Thread. However, since here almost everyone is from Orzammar (if you're surfacer hipster - you're probably insane like Varric - he doesn't have a beard) it should be a good place to discuss this issue.
I know BW said that female dwarf is the smallest character model in the game - but still I was surprised how short she is. Suddenly Varric is very tall man. I'm wondering if she's still short dwarfette or tall female halfling / gnome. I'm not sure if I'm ok with it.
So do you think female dwarves are too short? Or are you satisfied with their height?

She didn't look too short to me. She was a little more petite than I was expecting but it wasn't too extreme nor did was it really even that noticeable unless I was looking for it.

I'm fine with their height. But I realized in some gameplay today that female dwarves have been slimmed out so much they look more like hobbits than dwarves.

That's exactly what I thought - it's more the slimming out then the height itself that bothers me. She looks like Lady Hobbit. (I hope she has hairless feet)

I wouldn't count on it now that we know they have to shave every so often. ![]()

That was the first I've had a chance to see the female dwarf standing next to other companions. I'm surprised at how much smaller than Varric she looks. I always envisioned dwarves as stout in such a way that you'd believe that they could be tanks and take hardy blows. This reiteration has her looking more delicate due to the slimming down. It's just a surprise, that's all.

Luckily the stubble is an optional thing. There is no way I'm playing a bearded dwarfette ![]()

She look like a really small thin human. They need to add that thickness back to the female dwarves.

Dang, I was really a fan of the thick, curvaceous bodies on femdwarves... that dwarf just looked like a really short/small human. :c

At 3:01 she looks decently thick I guess, not as thick as her DAO counterpart but still not a tooth pick. But despite the disappointment of her being thinner, she does look cute and I love how the armor looks. Plus I am going to be a dwarven rogue archer so it's nice to see what I will look like "body wise" and how the armor fits (well that particular set of armor anyway). Also she doesn't look child like, I just want to say that now. Her body is proportioned in a way that you can tell from any angle that she is a grown women and " NOT" a child. I mean look at her hands they are big enough to not be mistaken for "child hands". I wish she was thicker but her figure isn't game breaking so I am still playing as a dwarf.

If I lost a few pounds she's pretty much match my body type to a tee. Stout, broad shoulders, square body, but decent hips. I kinda like her.

I'm more about the shortness than the stoutness, so I'm not personally distraught over it.
Though, if they are slimming down female dwarves, it's only fair they do the same to male dwarves as well...which doesn't seem to be the case.

I just want a female dwarf who looks like a dwarf and not a hobbit, sigh. I'll still run a dwarf eventually, but I don't think Zhenya's going to be my first or even second PT anymore.

That's fair. Some more muscles on the female dwarf would have been nice, too imo - it is really too typical that the male dwarves are musclebound but female dwarves are not at all.

I pulled up the concept art they had prior to DA2 and I have to concede that they followed that template closely. If you watch the video again, there's a few seconds where she's on even ground with Varric so she seems closer to his height. I do remember that when they were describing the races, the elves were like these long, lithe runner types and they envisioned the dwarven female as a roller derby girl. I got hung up on that description, expecting a character that could body slam with a vengeance. =p Just gonna roll with what they have. (Pun intended.)
