As for female warriors - I think humans look quite good too.
Right now I have 3 PTs in mind.
1.) female dwarf rogue archer (if it turns out archery is boring / not my style of play I'll re-spec her to dual dagger)
2.) female elf mage (I have never played a mage in DA series and apprentice to a keeper sounds like an interesting idea)
3.) human female warrior sword-and-shield (so far I only played two handed warriors - so that might be something new)
As for female dwarf warrior - perhaps you just need a huge badass armor to look awesome? (think full plate) Would that help?
I'll miss our dwarf talks - good thing is we'll able to talk about our experiences once we finish our PTs
I dunno, the armor might help make her more convincing, they really haven't given us any footage of one to make a judgement (except possibly a single 2 second glimpse of one in a trailer). Maybe if I get to see one kicking butt, female dwarves will be more believable as warriors.
To me, the female humans don't look like they've picked up anything heavier than a fork in years (while male mages apparently bench press small farm carts daily
). Yes, some people have wiry strength, but look at any line of female swimmers waiting for the signal to dive into a pool at an international competition (a sport that requires a lot of upper body strength) and what percentage even have average shoulder and arms, much less at the slender extreme end of the scale? When you consider that a fighter's going to be toting around at least 40 to 50 pounds of plate armor and helmet (and I'm probably underestimating any decent metal armor's weight), plus 15 to 20 pounds for a shield and 5 to 10 pounds for a sword... It's the comparison with real athletes in a sport generally using the same muscles that makes it jarring (though I admit I've had a lot of reservations about a non-mage human anyway until we know how firm their connections to the Chantry are so a female human warrior wasn't even on the radar for years probably
). I probably wouldn't be cranky if they'd given us one race with women who looked physically powerful/muscularly athletic.
Tentatively:
Derzka Lavellan - sword-and-shield champion
Ryumka Trevelyan - knight enchanter (or rift) - Cullen
Nevidima Lavellan - assassin - Solas
Volya Cadash - Tempest - Blackwall
?M Adaar - Rift - Dorian
Zhenya Cadash - sword-and-shield templar - Iron Bull
I'm still trying to rework my order. I originally had one of each race for my first four PTs, but pulling Zhenya and moving Derzka up completely threw me off. I'm going to let the game decide who charms Derzka between Cullen, Solas, and Blackwall, and whoever would have been the second PT for that LI will change to Josephine.
Most people will be done with their first PTs probably before I see Skyhold in person
. I thought I'd have a lot of free time over the holidays, but I had a deadline move forward by three weeks with a cascading effect on other deadlines which now means a little free time in December and I may finish my first PT by summer. I'll be able to listen to everyone else, though (good thing I don't mind spoilers
). I look forward to ya'll being back to tell stories.
