Hahaha okay
I love this! I so want to pair a female qunari with a dwarf now...
Hahaha only Qunari available is Iron Bull
One day we will have a dwarf to romance xD
May the Paragons curse me and my mind haha I've changed my party for my 1st PT (again).....I'm going to try and see what it's like with no mage in the party, so my team will now consist of Maltök Cadash, Cassandra, Varric and Sera. Knowing me I'll probs change again in a few days but right now no mages haha Maltök doesn't trust magic ![]()

Yeah, I like IB, but not sure about him with Zhenya or Volya. But I really wanted the tall woman/male dwarf option, that qunari hugging Varric was so perfect.

They've said, I think, that they tried to create things so you didn't strictly need one of each class in your party all the time, though I'm not sure how well that works out at higher difficulties. My problem is I really like what I've seen of all of the companions so far (Vivienne's the only one I have some reservations about, mostly because I have no patience with stuffy).
I finished both DA:O and DA2 on hard - so I'll try to do the same with DA:I. If it turns out it's too hard for me I'll lower the difficulty to normal.
Also I might do another dwarfette PT in future (either as sword-and-shield or as two-handed) cause the idea that once I finish (and I don't even have the game yet!) with Merry I won't be playing a dwarf is depressing me.
Also just for the record I will play on casual and bring whoever I want. I always play on easy and am not ashamed of it.
That's great cause there is no reason to be ashamed. As long as you're having fun everything is ok ![]()

I finally found a name for my Bow weilding Cadash. For some reason this was really hard but decided to name her Banuk.
Great name!
Welcome Banuk!
Can you tell us more about Banuk? Do you have her all planned up story wise? What about her spec? Who will she romance?
I was planning her to be a bit world weary at the start of the game. She had decided not long before the start that she didn't really have a choice in life. She neither hates the "family business" nor loves it, but she has felt shackled to it. If I can, I want her to be an assassin later, as I want to play her off as one of the enforcers for the family. It's a rut she has accepted after several years of struggle. Banuk has a strong sense of duty which probably made her a better smuggler to the carta, but that is her key to being the Inquisitor. At first I want to show it as a heavy burden, but actually later have a feeling that she has found her place no matter how terrible that place may seem. My Aeducan was more of a Leader first, who died because honor demanded it and she thought of the Grey wardens as her own legion of the dead. Hopefully I want Cadash to be the opposite, instead of a hopeful and ambitious Noble who loses everything, I want a jaded outlier who finds hope and confidence in her new profound role.
Kinda going with that, her romance will be Sera. An idealistic woman who finds joy in life.

Banuk's backstory sounds Awesome! ![]()
Also it seems Sera will steal hearts of many female dwarves ![]()
Man I love this thread. Not only do I get to chat with my fellow Dwarf fans but this is like the only thread left I have not had to abandon due to spoilers.
I couldn't agree with you more, Jason ![]()
You Gals and Guys are great. And it's the only thread I'm reading now on BSN cause we don't put / discuss spoilers here. I planned to go dark - and you convinced me to stay. ![]()
This is my first ever forum and this my first thread, only signed up about a month now I think and i just love it; your all great people and well....we all love Dwarves! May the Paragons bless you, my Dwarven brothers & sisters of the stone ![]()

When you get the game, you have to show us what Banku looks like ![]()
Dwarf fans are the best, it is known.
How do you guys plan on playing your characters wrt to religious beliefs, specifically?
Merry is going to be Andrastian. I don't think she even knows the dwarven meaning of words "Paragon" and "Ancestor".
If you had been a lad from Orzammar your mother would have never picked Merry to become your wife ![]()

My first will be agnostic. She was not really exposed to The Dwarf ancestors and what not. But she was never treated very well by the chantry so she has no love for them or any real belief in the Maker
Interesting! Sounds fun, both of you.
I do sort of hope you can throw in some stuff about the Stone/ancestors, especially since the other dwarf in the party (Varric) is obviously not going to have very reverential things to say about that.
But I won't be surprised if we can't, just disappointed.
I wonder, for example, might dwarven NPCs regard the Herald as a living Paragon (and given the divide on how Kal-Sharok/Orzammar dwarves see Paragons, how would that play out?), and Andraste as a human Paragon/ancestor? And what might it say to them that someone who is not their ancestor is reaching to them for strength? It's also interesting to me that dwarven religious strength comes from the ground/stone, while this power is received from the sky/fade. I imagine a dwarven PC who is attached to the strength of the stone would find themselves in a very uncertain and confusing place because of that.
Cadash Herald I think is most interesting to me in terms of the tension she/he might have already experienced between traditional dwarven beliefs and Andrastrianism, and how the events of the story would interact with that, so that might be what I end up playing with, even with my silly character.
To unpack what I mean there, of course every character can have any perspective, but if you look at the background they come from...
Trevelyan = grows up in a Andrastrian worldview.
Lavellan = grows up in a Creators/Dalish worldview, and one that is likely antagonistic against an Andrastrian worldview or at least defines itself in opposition to it making clear divides between "us" and "them"
Adaar = less obvious here, but it seems to be that Adaar probably grows up not fitting into any of the worldviews around her/him, which makes Adaar the second most interesting origin to me in terms of the religious ideas
Cadash = grows up in a society that has inherent tension, but not antagonistic like the Dalish, between traditional dwarven ideas and Andrastrianism. It's the lack of antagonism there that interests me, because since dwarves seem less likely to define themselves in opposition to Andrastranism, they are probably more likely to hybridize the two and pull dwarven philosophy into their understanding of the Maker/Chantry/Andraste, etc.
....sorry that's a lot of words nerding out about this stuff, but it's my jam. ![]()
