They'll tease everyone by adding a dwarven mage. The only one in existence, who will be the only one there is or ever will be, is just a minor inquisition grunt who doesn't like to make waves or tell people about their magicness.
That would be hilarious. The worst tease ever.

Perhaps, but most of my Dwarves have more in common with the Ferengi....

Oh golly, I love dwarves. I always feel they often get the short end of the stick in any fantasy, these days it is worse with the writeup on dwarves in some things becoming "Dwarves are sterotypical these are the stereotypes our dwarves embrace most" Just terrible. I do like that dwarves in D:AO gave them their own culture that was well defined outside of Beards, Ale, and hating elves.

I agree. I first started loving dwarves when I was child when I watched the animated version of the Hobbit.
The thing that stuck with me about dwarves is not the beards, well partly, not the beer, and not them hating elves, but their level of craftsmanship, artistry, and their stonemasons.
Think about it, they are digging under the earth and mountains, creating whole civilizations and works of wonder, while also keeping the surface from caving in on top of their heads AND keeping enough oxygen to breath with.
That in and of itself is a feat of engineering far beyond what most societies in real life can do. Hence why all those pillars in Lord of the Rings under the Misty Mountains are so awe inspiring. They're essentially holding up the mountain.
That is not the work of a bunch of drunks.

Agreed. In legend, Dwarves made all the great items and were far more magical than other races, albeit in a different way. They made weapons, sure, but all sorts of other things as well, even magical animals and wondrous artifacts.

I was already going to play the dwarf Inquisitor, but the background info that came out a few weeks ago only proved I was making the right decision. For House Cadash!

#1. Female rogue. Artificer or Assassin.
Has an interest in Blackwall.
will be a cheeky sort of lass.
#2. Male rogue (was going to make a templar, due to the background of lyrium smuggler but the human background seems a little more appropriate for that spec).
Either assassin or tempest ( whatever that does lol).
Will probably romance Josephine because he cant Dagna or that adorable scout.

I like to play a dwarf that fights with a bow, so I won't be part of that drinking warrior dwarf stereotype! I'm just starting a new game on Baldur's Gate with a dwarf now!
Edit: My dwarf is not even going to be the stereotype in the DA lore. He is going to be a pro-chantry dwarf, well at least my first main play through.

OMG!! Well, I wouldn't say no to drinking If Blackwall, Iron Bull, and Varric invited me! My dwarf should be able to out drink them all, especially Varric!!

I was thinking of making my DC in DAO an archer, which is funny because her long bows and taller then she is lol From the look of the long bows in DAI they will still be taller then she is, but my Cadash will be dual wielding.

My Zhenya Cadash will be a warrior. I don't like two-handed, so I guess I'm stuck with sword and board (I think they said only rogues can dual wield in DAI?) I do hope we have some dwarves around Skyhold (besides the scout leader and Varric). Hmm, I have to wonder just how well Varric will get along with a Cadash considering things he's said about dwarven families and their rivalries on the surface.

My second DA:O playthrough was supposed to be female dwarf noble. I loved Gorim and my Princess Aeducan. When I found out later that he moved on I was so heart broken that I've never finished that playthrough.
During my first DAI playthrough I'll be playing Gyda Cadash, female dwarf rogue - archer. She will be interested in both Blackwall and Sera.

Dwarves are fine ... as long as they stay in their reservations underneath the earth, where they belong.
Thank you for making my day. That was hilarious. I for one am looking forward to the Iron Bull + Dwarf Inquisitor romance scene.......will they actually have the dwarf riding the bull or will Bioware cop out?

Lol I barely noticed the big bow on my back in DAO! I just love to stick with the bows, but the dwarves look a little taller in this game. How are you going to play your dwarf inquisitor? Traditionalist dwarf? Or stay in character as a cartel dwarf?

Well most likely I will stay in character as a cartel dwarf. I mean both LI for a female dwarf I dont see caring all that much, I mean IB seems laid back and BW is a warden that might hold to the wardens "what ever it takes to win" state of mind. Plus Thats how I played my DC, I was surprised to find out that helping Slim couldry ended with some thing good, but I had a lot of fun with the heists like stealing logains helmet and robbing howe blind lol

It amuses me that my Dwarf Inquisitor's backstory is one prostitute sister and alcoholic mother from being my Dwarf Commoner Warden. Wonder if Leliana will the notice the similarities.

Still deciding between an elven mage and a dwarven rogue for my first playthrough. Dwarves are my favorite race by far, but mages are by far my favorite class. And I love elves too (although I'd prefer city elves over the dalish).
You are like my Dragon Age soulmate. That's exactly how I feel! And that was previously my dilemma as well.
The race-gating announcements basically require me to play an elven mage first. But my heart is still dwarven forever.

its a pity that we cant romance female dwarven females....like Dagna or Sigrun
and now we do not have even elven females to romace..the only non human and non Orlais/Chantry/Templar girl in party is restricted to only womans
its damn 4 races and 2 kingdoms and many factions and we have nothing..mostly only companions and all advisors who are humans and pro Orlais/Chantry/Templars....not any companion or advisor from Dalish, rebellion mages, Orzammar/Kal-Sharok Dwarves, Tevinters(not another criminal, and even exile with shame like Dorian sh*t), Nevarran, Barbarians(like Avvars,Chasind), Tal-Vashots
we need more elven, dwarven and kossith females to our companions/advisors and to romance

So I have just watched the Gamescom Demo and noticed the cute dwarf scout at the beginning. I have liked the dwarves so far in DA games, but could never make a dwarf warden because they were so badly proportioned
but the demo gave me hope again. Now, it is very likely that my first Femquisitor will be a dwarven lady if I can get her to look like the cute scout ![]()
