I'm thinking about making a Dwarven Templar fanatic. I'll give him a warhammer and call it Maker's Fury. It'll probably be an all mages die playthrough.

I wonder what the dwarves role in this game going to play, beside meeting the old crime group we worked with. In that old trailer, I saw like a dwarven settlement. But I do want to meet a dwarf with a french accent! I'm going with the british accent just to be different!

I will be doing a male Dwarf rogue (dual weapons) playthrough who will have a renegade attitude and will romance Cassandra. This will be in the same world state in which the Warden Commander/Hero of Ferelden was a male Dwarf noble who romanced Leliana.

I always do a dwarf. I considered not doing it if I was racegated out of the romances I guessed I'd want to do the most....which I have been (Or they're not even an option, sniffle, Viv)...buuuuut. No. Stone before bone, y'all. Dwarven Rogue will be my first PT...prob romancing Sera, but who knows. I have to wait to meet them before I decide! I can't seem to just pick one based on the vague descriptions.
Just because the dwarven background is criminal related, I want to make my dwarf super heroic and sweet....but I was drawn to purple Hawke like a moth to a dadjoke flame, so....we'll see how well that goes.

But nope
Dwarves.
I'm also not being biased by saying the Cadash background interested me the most put of the four races.

I'm signed on for the elven mage first playthrough, deciding between Solas and Cullen. But if I could be a dwarven mage, I would be. *pets signature*
Cadash sounds really cool. I plan to pair her with Iron Bull.
I think Solas has a good reason for only being pairable with a lady elf, and I like what somebody said about Cullen only being pairable with women who could believably roleplay a Circle mage--that made me all like
. So those two things salved my disappointment a fair bit although I am still slightly pouty that my dwarf can't have the pretty LIs. (Well, the pretty male ones; true that there are still Sera and Josephine.)
But, yeah. Dwarf is still my first love racewise, with Mage being my first love classwise. I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope that someday I will have my wish.

Funny you mention that, because of The Dragon Age series, when I play a Dwarf in any other games, I won't play as a magic user!

I wonder how much attention they are going to give the prisoners in the dungeon. If they are just going to throw them in there and forget them for the rest of the game, I intend to play as a "cannibal" dwarf with a taste for mage flesh. I wonder if the game will leave room for this kind of headcanon.
I'd imagine they taste like chicken and pop rocks.

I plan on making an artificer rogue who will be aromantic/asexual and a reaver warrior who will romance Josephine. The genders are still a toss up at the moment, but one will be female and the other will be male. I hope I get around to actually playing them though and not just enter it into the keep for future games, as admittedly Dwarfs are not my preferred race of choice.
I think it would be cool when forced into the fade, you can do some magic as Dwarf.
I seem to remember a dev saying that since surface Dwarfs haven't been in contact with lyrium, it might be possible for them to lose some of their magical immunity as generations go by. It would be interesting if we see some effects of that in DAI though I'm not holding out hope.

You can do magic as a dwarf in the fade in DAO. I imagined mine being a little freaked out for a moment, then going "I can freeze things and blast them with fire? Cool!"

Yes! Also hitting things with fireballs was a lot of fun since you didn't have companions along to worry about friendly fire.

I felt that was always the biggest downside of the mage. You had to keep your tanks back to avoid hitting them... But get close enough to the mobs to cast that aoe... But they will see you and start running... D=

Sadly, in some of the best situations to use the magic AOEs, you had non-companion NPCs, like at Redcliff at nightfall, and it was a choice of deploying them or keeping the NPCs alive.

I am really torn on what to do as my first play through.
On one hand, I have never played as a dwarf, and have always been fascinated by their culture and society in DA lore. But on the other hand, the Necromancy specialization for mages has me interested.
I do want to play as a Male Dwarf rogue; not sure on specialization just yet; who wants to unite everyone in Thedas to deal with the Fade Tear and the Elder One. He will even enlist the aid of various fantasy creatures; including demons; to aid in his quest. Sine he was working with the Carta my Dwarf Inquisitor would realize the value of having a diverse pool of resources to get a job done, and; much like Solus; he will be very unbiased in his view of fantasy creatures or of the denizens of the Fade. They may look evil, but if they are willing to assist him, he will not turn them away.
If the Necromancy specialization includes the option to spec one's self as a 'pet class' then I will be very very tempted to play as a Mage however. Right now I am down between either the dwarf male rogue, or an Elf Necromancer (humans are boring IMO, and Qunari are the go to race for many people, and I want to be different!
).
My first PT all depends on what the Necromancer specialization offers. If it is just a mage with death themed spells, then I will give it a pass, but if I can emulate my Witch Doctor from Diablo 3, or the Overlord from the Overlord series, then I will have to give the short folk a pass.

Is it bad the reason I love dwarves so much is just because my first warden was a dwarf. And the reason she was, was because when I was picking backgrounds I had no idea what they were like and just saw that as a dwarf you could be a priiiiiinnnncceeeessss.
And I so badly love being a princess.
Which of course didn't last long but by the time Bhelen betrayed us I was already hooked on the war ravaged gopher folks and they became my favorite DA race.

First playthrough I'm totally rolling a Female Dwarf Warrior with the Reaver spec who's gonna ride the Bull and wield a massive two-handed axe (just... y'know... not at the same time.) ![]()
No humans for meeeee.
My playthroughs will consist of dwarves, qunari and elves only.
