Gotta get that twist in there.
How many of you are playing archers? After 25 hours of playing (I'm currently level 9) I find archery a bit of dull and I'm thinking about re-specing for dual daggers since it looks more exciting (also bows are kind of weak in damage department
). Does archery get better later? (I have all skills from archery tree on basic and full draw on advanced. Also I have stealth from subterfuge tree)
Also do you pick the skills of your NPCs or do you use auto-leveling? I think I need to re-spec my team mates (who should get what?) cause no matter how much I try I can't clean up the vault in Valaamar (which is by the way the coolest part of the game yet - why can't we get a game about dwarves?!)
I would be grateful for help / hints / tactis.
I play as a archer and the combat is a little dull, but I used evasion a lot to jump around and shoot people. There hasn't been many bows for me to craft or buy, so I hope I run into a few soon, because Cole and Vivienne are basically handling all of the combat. I pick the skills for my companions, because I make sure that their skills fits around my other party members.
Tell me who do you bring with you, and I should be able to help you figure things out.
Go get it Cespar! Good for you and Josie!
OH HE'S SO TINY NEXT TO HER
Thank you! I haven't seen many screenshots with a dwarven PC, so this is super cute
I love the dwarven race, so when I experience more scene with her or any special scene, I always make sure to take a pic of my dwarf. I'm making the game longer than it's suppose to be, so I can spend a lot of time with my dwarf.

That scene would be pure gold if she fell on him ![]()
I am torn between a dwarf 2H warrior and a Qunari 2H warrior.. do I want the bonus magic resistance or the melee resistance. Maybe I'll go as a two handed Dwarf Templar and bring all 3 soldiers with me for every dragon fight.
Go get it Cespar! Good for you and Josie!
I want to see your picture next! Dorian, right?

Keep posting the photos when you get there
. I'd like to see them, and Allegra might keep an eye out for them now she's seen them being posted. If I run a male dwarf, he'll be for Cassandra or Dorian.

Yeah, but it's Dorian and a qunari. When I roll my dwarf, he's going to be #ridingthebull!

Evasion - I don't have that. Is that subterfuge tree?
Since I'm a rogue I normally take one rogue, one warrior and one mage. Sometimes I take two warriors and one mage.
People I'm using: Cassy and / or Blackwall (I speced him as two-handed, but he doesn't get any guard so I probably failed miserably), Sera or Varric and Vivi or Dorian.
I usually go in either Amazon team (Cassy, Sera speced as double daggers - but that doesn't seem to work very well, Vivi) or Me & Boyz (Blackwall, Varric, Dorian)
I think my biggest issues are with the mages since I don't know what to give them and on which skills I should focus.
Cassy seems to work the best (sword-and-shield + vanguard). However, both Sera and Blackwall don't play as they should.
I haven't used IB yet - so he has all his points free. As for Cole - I don't have him yet. I will get him in next story mission I think.
Any ideas?

First, make sure that everyone is equipped with their level armor, because that was my downfall at the beginning. Under character record, Cassandra tactics setting should have Challenge- Preferred, Grapping- Preferred, Lunge and Slash- Preferred, and Shield Wall- Preferred,
Evade is the skill name, and yes it's under Subterfuge.
Your mages should have Dispel and Barrier as preferred. I have Vivienne, so she mostly is going down the Knight Enchanter tree, but has fire and ice as side skills. I have Cole's behavior on defensing her, which he always step in when she's about to die. That saves me a headache. My character and Varric mostly stand on the upper ground, since it adds to the damage, but Varric occasion drop his traps before the enemies heads towards up, which slows them down, while Vivienne and I dish out some head damage, plus stealth is a lifesaver for us rogues, and Cole ability sometimes makes Vivienne invisible, which helps in our favor, because all the party members are invisible.
Your mages should focus on the spirit tree and their specialization. I know you can do way better than me, since I don't know have any tanks on my team, and I'm playing on hard. Oh also, it help you a lot when you're able to craft the masterwork things, because you can put "Fade-Touched Obsidian," in your mages armor, which put 3 guard on them. So having guard and barrier would increase their chances of living.
Bottom line:
Make sure all the warriors focus on like the first battle master skills, a lot of the Vanguard stuff, some on their weapon skills, and a lot in their specialization.
Mages focus on the spirit and specialization tree (especially knight enchanter tree, OP.)
Rogues should play around in the Subterfuge tree for a little, but have Cole focus a lot on his specialization tree. I have most of Varric Archery tree, since he really don't need stealth that much, but evade is a good one to have for him incase a enemy tries to run up on him while stealth is on cool down.
Craft craft craft, heavy defense means the winning of the battle.
Finally reached Skyhold! Took it as a proud dwarf and told the people that the Inquisition is there for everybody, not just humans!
The scene would have been awesome, if it weren't for the fact that the beige pyjama looks like a rather tight fit around Thoryns belly! Can't belive that my advisors let me run around in that. It doesn't really flatter the mighty dwarven physique!
Well, decided to roll with female dwarf rogue, but playing as a friendly happy-go-lucky type character. Consider her as more of a scout, delivery girl and not a thug type. She doesn't know what to make of the whole herald thing, will be playing that by ear.
Oh, and the character creator is possessed and has a mind of it's own - it kept trying to maximize make-up settings! pfft.
Some pics from my Joise Romance if we are sharing.

Also,Tishina, here's a pic of a female Warrior if your still torn about the stature.
Spoiler
Yes, thank you, that first set of armor bulked her up much closer to what I would expect a female dwarven warrior to look like. I would be thrilled if I could have my female warrior look like that all the time. That second set is the one I've seen in a few pictures that depresses me because she doesn't look as if she's picked up anything heavier than a fork in years, much less a forge hammer or a sword and shield. Most female warriors should have the upper body development of a competitive swimmer or another athlete who requires a lot of strength in their shoulders and arms, and I'd hoped at least the armor would compensate for whatever compromise they were trying to make to have a single body type for all three classes, especially with the dwarves where they don't have to compensate for mages. I just wonder how possible it's going to be to stick just to the heavy armor that makes her believable (and how hard it's going to be to find armor that hides the butt swish because I also have this odd idea that my athletic warrior should run like a serious runner).
Edited: Oh, and Josie's VA, Captain Allegra/Allegra Clark, was asking for video of dwarves romancing Josephine, so thanks! I think she's particularly interested in the second romance scene (not absolutely sure which one that is, but could be the twirling scene?)
Sidenote: I played as my female dwarf for about 20 minutes last night (just long enough to get my weapon and explore the area around Haven for a bit) to kill time while I was waiting for some war room quests to time out in my main game. I think I might be in love with her. With her wooden shield and half-shaved hair, she's totally reminding me of Lagertha from the Vikings tv show. She's an absolute badass. I honestly think she might trump my male dwarf for my second playthrough. I honestly can't believe it, given that I haven't completed a game with a female protagonist since ME2 (and that was only once). But Agathe, my lovely ginger dwarf lass, might be the one to win me over. She's dreamy!
