Oh, he looks good! That's a great shot of the two of them together. And I don't really like the dragon armor either, if it's the set I think it is.
Awh thanks Tish

Actually, you're more than welcome to watch it if you like. I broadcast it on Twitch. The first play through was last night.

There may be some lag. So forgive that, please.
That's alright and yeah, of course I'll check your stream out
It'll have to depend on time zones (From Wales) and work
But I shall watch them!
Feel free to watch the past broadcasts. (not many yet)
No need to go crazy trying to watch it live, after all. XD
I'm loving playing a dwarf again.
Tolkien has great city names and lots of backgrounds for them; but also the book The Dwarves
With Tolkien, some names are:
Belegost, Glittering Caves, Moria, Nargothrond, Nogrod and there's some good background info on them
Haha, as it happens I have the book The Dwarves and have been reading it! However, I don't want my city names to be things like Glittering Caves or Ogre's Death. That's great for landmark names, but city names I want to be special and unique, rather then descriptive.
Have you developed a language for them? What do they revere? How is their culture? All of it would play important factors in how they name their cities.
For instance, DA Dwarves revere family and tradition, hence the tendency to name their thaigs after the ruling/founding families.
No language developed at all, other then perhaps a phrase or two used in my book. As for what they revere, there's a great reverence placed on family, honor, and duty (along with a religion with patron deities). Culturally they're very advanced and enjoy the finer things in life as well as traditionally Dwarfy things.
Once we all get on the same page, we can discuss what dwarves are like in Tevinter. Seem like they have a different culture than what we are seeing down in the south. The dwarves have strong magic resistance, so I could see how their presence in Tevinter could be hold high or even feared.
We could also discuss what we learned at the Hissing Wastes about the surface tradition dwarves.
I am really looking forward to when we are ready to do this. I honestly thought I'd just hear some NPCs talking about Harrowmont this or Bhelen that and that would be the end of it. This game has been exceeding my expectations in that regard.

So something relating to the founder of the town may be good (Olaf's Stand, Halfsontown that kind of deal), or it could pertain to unique attributes of the settlement (Eight Peaks, The Pillars, or something as cliche as Dragon's Peak). If you want it to be a single noun, then there are really no limits, but maybe give them some nordic or scottish inspired names (if they are "traditional" Dwarves). Words such as Glasgow literally translates into: Beloved Green Place. So abbrevations could works aswell.
*high five* That's how I approached it. No apologies for being a carta member. That's life. Varric doesn't make apologies for being a surface dwarf or a member of the merchant guild. He complains about them, sure, but he's not apologetic about who he is. I like that.
Let me use an analogy from DA:O. Alistair and Zevran had different romance styles. Alistair came with some baggage and some drama, depending on how events played out. Zevran did not have any surprises -- loyal all the way to the end. (I saw people say they preferred Zevran for that reason alone.) I would say the Blackwall romance veers closer to the Alistair spectrum, if that makes sense. It is up to you which path you're looking for. =D
Exactly. I don't want to play the sweet girl stuck in a horrible, evil family. I'm going to play the kickass girl stuck in an evil family and loving it. ![]()
Yeeeeah...but with Alistair, he basically kicks you out on the street if you refuse to be his concubine. Cause heaven forbid he marry a non-human as King.
Plus, I love Ali-bear, but he so led my elf mage on to heartbreak. I thought I totally had his romance, and then the conversations stopped, and I found out online that though he will flirt like hell with your male character...he won't commit. Had to restart and redesign my whole character. (cause I role-play my characters certain ways and with certain backstories if I'm romancing certain characters)
Zevran was tricky, because if you weren't careful and approached him to soon, you could get locked out of a serious relationship with him and thus it would stay a fling. Or he would betray you and side with the crows during a certain event. So you had to watch and play your cards right to trully win him over. But when you do win him over, he's loyal and suprisingly sweet. He's acts very different once he realizes he's actually in love with you. I didn't like him at first, but after I romanced him, I really came to like him.

I never had a problem with Zevran, but I found it easy to keep his approval high. I loved the entire romance, even the kind of heavy handed come-ons from the beginning because they fit him. I have to stop and remember that he is an assassin sometimes, though.
Yeah there is some really good dwarf stuff hidden in the game.
It made me have this huge hope that there will either be a dwarf centric DLC, or that the Kal Sharok dwarves will play a huge role on the next game. (Which would make sense if it was set in Tevinter, as I assume/hope it will be!)
With all the Tevinter hint hint, nudge nudge, I would be surprised if DA4 didn't take place in Tevinter. I was hoping to be a Kal-Sharok dwarf, but going by lore, I wouldn't be able to be a dark tone one, which I'm fine with. I prefer Kal-Sharok's culture to Orzammar. Kal-Sharok gives every dwarf a chance, and it doesn't matter what caste they're apart of. I would like to see Orzammar go in this direction, especially with Bhelen on the Throne, since he's all for a change. Traditional may be good and all, but it's going to hold the dwarven people back.
Imagine if you could play as a Kal-Sharok dwarf and there was a LI who was an Orzammar dwarf and

...I mean, also all the other cool things! But uh, my mind tripped on the cross cultural dwarf romance idea.
My feels…. ![]()
Haven't forgotten about this thread or my own dwarf stuff, just trying to finish up my qunari play first before I record more videos and post a comic/fan art I have plans for.
A question though, for anyone else who's done the Orlesian ball with a dwarf and an LI (especially if it was Cassandra)Spoiler
A few screenshots of my Cadash.
I am really loving the 2H/reaver spec. I wasn't in love with this in DA:O for some reason, but here it just has some ooooomph.

If there ever was a good time to be a dwarf, this is it. The farther away from the crotch, the better.

I enjoy it when Varric is in a cutscene with Cadash. I just dealt with a pretty tough situation in the game (not pictured) and I appreciated that Varric was the one to speak up by default. A friend was there instead of some snarky companion, you know what I mean?

Why can't we have schematics for this armor in medium armor version?
The only one I've seen was inquisitor scout armor - but it had terrible stats. I'm really tired of my hunter mail / coat.
I finally finished the ball and remembered that you had asked this a while back. (I had to replay that whole thing twice and still didn't get the outcome I wanted because my eyes glazed over too much and I missed a few opportunities. MOVING ON.)
Spoiler
Oh my gosh, is he romancing Cass? I still can't bring myself to romance her as a dude, but I am so invested in Cadash/Cass pairings anyway.

Yes I think you can. Dorian is easy to break up with, you get like 500000 opportunities to, poor thing.
Does the romance get better? My only problem is that it happened so fast.
Dorian's romance is one of the best m/m romances in Bioware games. I can't really compare it to the quality of the straight romances because I've only done a small number of them (and mostly years ago). I'm assuming that you just got the sex scene (or, more appropriately, the after sex scene). There's more, but that majority is what you've seen. Dorian will continue to have romantic dialogue with you throughout the game and I adored his ending scene (after the final battle).
You might just like Cass better, though. Or, Cass's romance might just be a better one in general. It's gotten alot of love. I know that if she were available to ladies, I'd go for it in a second.
