Would this be an idea for the next MP?

Just a quick thought.

 

If you were able to, in private lobbies with friends or in solo matches, to be able to set a game to run on more than 1 map.

 

The idea was that you could preset a match to run on 2/3 (maybe more) maps.

 

When/if you then made it to extraction, you, and/or your team would be picked up by the shuttle and immediately be taken onto a new map with a new battle (mission to complete), preset or unknown unknown.

 

The games would of course be a whole lot longer, but would propably depend more on you and/or your team's abilities to co op, keep everyone alive and play smart (save your rockets/gels/ops packs/spare ammo if the condition was, that you would NOT get new recources through your mission other than the supplies, delivered by the ammo boxes).

 

I thought it could be fun, but I do not think it would work very well in public matches though

I just started to sketch two layouts for a similar thread I was about to make. Your idea is interesting OP but I had something a bit different in mind.

As supposed to present "firebases" that are all basically just big arenas, I would make non linear maps that are more like SP versions of some maps where you basically just go forward as the mission progresses.

So in "firebases" we have waves, and on these maps the waves would be substituted with checkpoints. So the enemies would spawn until you would secure a sector (got to the checkpoint) and then you move on.

Every sequence of the walkthrough would have some objective, and there could also be the grand finale at the end like a maw fight or a taking down a reaper. So you'd have the LZ and checkpoint 11 would be the EZ. (11 to match the firebases wave count)

Edit: On a more serious note. As much as I hate FarCry3 matchmaking system, the co-op idea (SP-like levels/checkpoints/tasks) were quite cool IMHO. Mash up both ideas above - much more fun than running around the reactor.

Edit - OT, admittedly, my thought was based on the MP, as we know it now. Non linear map missions could be great imo.

As people change their characters and weapons, the visuals show on the models as well as your appearance customization, and clicking on a character would give a full loud out summary.

As you ready up, your character would follow up with an appropriate taunt...Krogan: ''Let's go kill something!!!!!''...Drell: something like Deerber's signature :D

And if he refuses, or you get Mr. Striker Destroyer, then the other 3 throw him out the shuttle when you votekick.

I like both OP's and FF's ideas as I'm all for teamwork and objective based gameplay.

 

I worry that it wouldn't work all that well with pugs though. I mean pugs have a hard time wrapping their heads around the concept of "stay in the f*cking hack circle" so if you were to drop them into a game mode that requires teamwork and a some tactical forethought, it might be a disaster. It would be a blast to play with friends though.  :)

 

Also I think that if such game mode were to exist, squad size would have to go up to at least 5 or 6 IMO. Ditto for the amount of active enemies to compensate for the squad's increased firepower.

No. The idea is that you have limited supplies and you have to use them wisely, i.e not whoring spawns on w11. If everyone could restock on supplies in between matches, it would make the game mode pointless.

@shady - maybe combine this stuff with the idea of having to play simpler modes/difficulties a certain amount before unlocking others.

Yeah, this has been sort of done in other games (Warframe is one I guess), so why not in ME3. Let's see what Bioware has to offer in the next Mass Effect game.

No. The idea is that you have limited supplies and you have to use them wisely, i.e not whoring spawns on w11. If everyone could restock on supplies in between matches, it would make the game mode pointless.

 

In Counter Strike, you only have a limited amount of funds and you have to spend them wisely based on what you expect and what your team game plan is for the next round. It's a big part of the knowledge aspect of the game.
