YES, I cannot wait for this book. I'm always up for learning more about the wardens! On a side note, I did not realize this was the fifth book! Wow.

Fifth book...set after the Fifth Blight...what year will it be next year?  Yes, that's right, you guessed it.  2015.  5.

It's a conspiracy.  Bioware didn't think we'd notice.

2015 -> 2 + 0 + 1 + 5 = 8 = number of romance options... oh no...

Just finished it (Its actually pretty short, I started this morning)

So it DOESN'T give much insight into what the Grey Wardens are doing in DAI.

But I'm not bothered by that, because it DOES

All in all, a pretty good story, well written too.

It was probably left unmentioned because it will be dependant on who survived in Awakening (I know Bioware has their own "out of game" lore, but they do like to leave those things ambiguous). My bets on Howe if he survived.

So far i like the book. The writing style is most certainly better than the one from previous books, done by game writers.

This is not supposed to be an insult to the previous authors, but it just goes to show that writing a book and writing the script for a game are two very different things that require different skills.

At least in the beginning i had some problems how the story was thought out. I will try to avoid spoilers but a character in the book finds something pretty rare very early in the book. And she does it on her very first day, pretty much the first place were she looks even though she is searching for something entirely different.

I don't have a problem with things happening by chance in stories, but this was a bit too much. It's gets worse because after that severall months go by in the book without much happening. It wouldn't have been too hard to just describe how she stumbles unto the thing after a few weeks and it would have made things a lot more believable.

This is the first time I've ever pre-ordered from Amazon and I'm kinda bummed it still hasn't shipped. I could have picked it up after class today from Barnes & Noble. :\

Wow. Yeah, that revealed a heck of a lot about Garahel, Griffons, and the Fourth Blight. And, of course, blood magic...

Just finished Last Flight, and WOW.

I really liked it. Honestly, I might have enjoyed The Masked Empire more overall, but this book was genuinely moving, and I got all teary and stuff near the end.

Revelation: Holy CRAP DA:O would have been depressing if the Blight hadn't ended as soon as it did. This book really did a nice job of making war...ugly.

I was thinking about buying the book and this sounds exciting

Is it like Asunder and Masked Empire in terms of setting up conflicts that we will likely solve in DA:I?
Or is it more like Stolen Throne and The Calling which gave more background info to some characters and fleshed them out more (Loghain, Duncan and the Architect)

Neither really. To me it seemed more about fleshing out the history of Thedas. The focal point is on characters long dead, and while it does give some hints as to "current" events, there's not a huge amount. It does go into more detail on some of the "mechanics" of the world as it were, which is interesting.

It's a good read. Not a great one, but worth picking up.

I have to admit, reading Last Flight has convinved me of an idea I've had in my head for a while: the 5th Blight should not have ended in DA:O. The Warden should've been able to protect Ferelden and driven the darkspawn off (much like how Hossberg was saved in LF), but the Archdemon shouldn't have been there. Instead, we have all the stuff that occurs in DA2 and Inquisition, against the backdrop of a Blight. That'd've been amazing, instead of the blight being, well, almost a letdown compared to past ones (and if you think the 4th was bad, the 1st lasted about two centuries...)

Well, they needed some more definitive resolution because they didn't know if they would get a sequel. I think it would have been better if the Blight had already been in progress for some time in DAO, and we hit the tail end of it.
