Also, why do people still judge your ability based on N7 score? To my knowledge this is not an indicator of player skill, just how many kits you've tried.

N7 is just one of a number of factors you can look at to predict ability. You can't look at it alone but it is a factor.

That's the problem with PUGs, yeah.
Sadly I see a lot of instances of PUG abuse, too. I actually like it when low-level players (who clearly are inexperienced) join my lobbies. But I see people insta-kick them or even verbally abuse them. I give them a lot of credit for sticking with us for an entire game, even if they aren't really very good yet - how else are they going to learn? I didn't do very well the first time I got thrown in a Gold match, either.

Pugs want to be carried but you better do it fast. They have no patience for those who do not clutch quickly after they bleed out.

They must hate me then. I never use missiles when clutching (and very rarely at any other times either).

Don't always assume they quit. I've gotten plenty of "Lost communication with EA servers" messages. Also I'll quit when the lag is really really bad. Or if I have to solo more than a couple rounds with a kit I don't want to solo with. Or I just ran out of time and have to leave the house. There are other reasons for quitting other than frustration.

The worst hate mail I've gotten was because I was "stalling" and taking too long clutching a wave.

If that's the worst, than you don't play enough...

Or something glitches, like the enemies are invisible, or unkillable. Or like happened to me today, I could not reload my rifle immediately after firing, only after a delay of about 12 seconds could I initiate a reload. Made it hard to play usefully.

I have put on the Benny Hill theme on loop and ran laps around Rio while kiting a lone Brute. I don't mind carrying a little but leechers can **** off.

N7 is just one of a number of factors you can look at to predict ability. You can't look at it alone but it is a factor.
N7 combined with CP (but mostly CP) can tell me in broad strokes how much time someone has put into playing the game. Time played still isn't a perfect predictor since some people are just better at games than others, but it's still the best imo.

You have to add manifest to that as well. It is not fool proof that is for sure but it with no other info it is often spot on.

They love me. I've even been know to run a couple of laps of the map to pick up grenades.

I lately got to rage quit twice in row. The lag was making the game so absurd, I was just constantly on the floor. I was nothing more then burden, because all damage was getting to me in delay and I was unable to adapt and I was also getting very angry, which is not good. At that point I don´t think that me leaving would screw anyone over, more like I was doing them a service.
and yes, it was Jade of course

I don't rage quit games anymore, I leave only if I need to, if I'm disconnected or if my game crashes. I rage missile and rage gel instead now, much more satisfying when I can (hopefully) get some credits for my trouble. I have noticed that more people are rage quitting, however most of the time their spot is filled by another player. If I'm hosting, anyone who rage quits is automatically excused because my ISP isn't that friendly to people overseas.
I stopped judging ability by N7 when I started playing on PC. It'd be a bit hypocritical of me to keep judging when I kept my N7 at 40 for months. Then again, anyone who judged me at that time was likely spot on. I use manifest and challenge points to determine if the person is new or not, but since I only play Bronze and Silver I don't really care if that N754 with a Mantis 3 and a Phalanx 1 wants to play a round of Silver. So long as they help with objectives, I don't mind picking them up off the floor 10 times in a match.

The game is so predictable.... Hold this thought.... that I really enjoyed carrying PUGs. It keeps things interesting. "Quit dying ye goofy bastards."
Operation Routine
Our operatives have been in the field for years now. They've gone through countless thermal clip packs and defeated hordes of enemy forces. Your challenge is to provide a morale boost. A bounty of 50,000 BSN Gold is now posted to the first person to release a video of themselves completing a solo while blindfolded. Good luck out there.

I don't really mind if a PUG rage-quit, so long as it is not the host. If you want to host, you can jolly well stick it out to the end instead of messing up your team-mates' consumables or having them dropped from the game.

Every time the host leaves, I get to keep my consumables(minus gels, ops, rockets, and thermal packs)at the end of the match. They still work during the match too. I take it as a freebie. A host dropped before Wave 1 started today, and I maintained my used consumables at the end.

Same. The visual ammo effect on my weapon usually disappears but I can still cause FE's or TB's, for example.

Works differently for me. I lose my consumables half the time, which makes it a tad more difficult to finish the game (assuming I don't get disconnected).
