Anyone else disappointed about lack of blood mage?

The inquisition allowing the practice of blood magic makes about as much sense as allowing Grey Wardens to keep darkspawn as pets
Why would you do that? Didn't you read the job description?

In an ideal world, I would have loved the playthrough of the blood mage to be similar to how VTMB handled the malkavian or nosferatu. Mostly because although the story content is different, these are completely different playthroughs as compared to the other vampire clans. It would have been possible with a silent protagonist.

Well maybe eventually there will be blood mages in the MP. *runs away*

Yes, its really bad form to make a magic spec available in two games and ditch it in the third. A magic which is the most feared one in all of Thedas. The amount of storylines which could be made out of it is astounding. But here we have Bio chicken out and claim that the player can´t use blood magic. Nice job dudes.
I guess they had to focus on the hack´n slash with additional glitter magic on the side.

Or, you know, they're putting the story first, shoring it up so they can have coherent lore in the future.

I'm not that bothered about it. I was disappointing at first because it was a fun spec to play but I get why they have done it.
I do hope necromancy is not just entropy abilities though, that actually would feel like a loss rather than a replacement.

I thought the Inquisitor's job was to close the breaches and stop the demonic incursion. If blood magic can get the job done, why not? Desperate times, desperate measures, and all that.

I bet we get a bloodmage for MP at some point. All the comments about the lengths one has to go to learn it and the way it would break interactions all only apply to SP, but it hardly matters in MP. I have no doubt that even if it's not one of the first 4 mages, it'll be DLC later.

Yeah, I keep hearing that as a justification for all kinds of misbehavior on the part of the Inquisitor. I can't say that I'm thrilled with the idea of a character who is this far above the law simply because they were lucky enough to not die during a magical explosion. I think it's time Bioware drew a line regarding PC behavior, and since blood magic carries a death penalty, this would be a good time to do it, regardless of the Inquisitor's unique nature. This isn't to say that I want immoral or illegal behavior prohibited, rather I'd like to see some realistic consequences when the PC goes too far.

I agree. I'm not seriously advocating it, more playing Devil's Advocate. In some ways, I think it would be interesting if they did have Blood Magic and actually implement real consequences for using it. The idea of the Inquisitor as this "all powerful" character to whom no rules apply does rather start to risk veering into Mary Sue territory.

I'd be all for it if they could actually implement blood magic in a way that reflected the lore... it would be very interesting to have almost the entire continent become hostile, essentially forcing the player to continue the game along a completely separate path from the standard storyline. Unfortunately that sounds like too much work, so we'll probably never see it happen. I'm guessing that blood magic won't return as a player spec until we have a game that is set in Tevinter, where it's tolerated and even encouraged among the ruling class.

Nobody can recognize a blood mage..... That is more unrealistic than da2 was.
"everyone on the continent knows I'm a blood mage."
No. Nobody would know except your party, people who witness the act, and people who see all your cuts on your arms. (This is probably untrue; more prople would find out.. I'm just making a point)

Wardens don´t prohibit blood magic remember? So why on earth would the special snowflake like Inquisitor who works for the chantry and divine (with all her special agents) be banned from the blood magic for makers sake. Don´t these people have enough authority to give the pc free reign to get the job done?
"Oh yeah, the world is going to implode with fade but you can´t use blood magic. It´s bad mmkay?"

Basically, it got removed because people complain about NPC not reacting to bloodmage, good job everyone.

Admitedly the people who kept Corypheus locked up kinda wanted to do just that.
But yeah, people calling a blood mage the Herald of Andraste and putting trust in him/her would be incredibly silly.

The Grey Wardens have centuries of tradition and deeds to back up their authority and right to break the law as they see fit. The Inquisitor is a random person who comes completely out of nowhere to become magically gifted with the most heinous form of plot armor imaginable. "Only I can save the world," is a poor character premise to begin with, and it doesn't need to be reinforced by allowing the PC to routinely engage in unlawful behavior, up to and including capital offenses, without fear of retribution.

It's logical to forbid blood magic specialization in the current plot. However I am disappointed with the current plot, and the fact that it forbids blood magic. If I had a choice I would never join the Inquisition, never associate myself with the people that are the current companions and advisers in the first place.
