Don't lose hope.  We may eventually see its return in DA4 or 5... in a Tevinter-based game, it would not be out of the ordinary for a random mage to practice blood magic (it is technically illegal but largely decriminalized).  My hunch is that once the main plot begins to focus on the potential Qunari invasion, Tevinter will be chosen as the setting.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd very much like to see the Imperium in game.

I think it was just not wanting to impliment anything to make blood mages significant. "we don't want to have to put in stuff to make blood magic feel significant, so lets just add a necromancer tree (which is freaking blood magic anyway!)

Mike said in an interview they wanted to make specializations significant and affect the story.. I was REALLY hoping that this desire would come to fruition. :|

Im sure they hav told you before, but Necromancy is NOT Blood Magic.

Blood magic relates mostly to how you extract the power to create magic, taking it from blood. You can cast fireballs with blood magic and be still a very evil spell. Not because you casted a fireball, but because you sacrified blood or maybe a life to do it.

Just remember the circle of magi in DAO. You can use a ton of lirium and mages to enter the fade, or you can sacrifice a live with blood magic to do it. The spell is the same, but the way you do it, its what defines Blood Magic.

DA2 did a lot of harm to blood magic's lore. They really messed it up.

I can understand that Blood Mage would be a bit difficult to justify against the lore and current hero/setting of DA:I.  Though it's not like the previous games ever really gave it much notice either.

I would hope that it returns as a spec in a future DA game where using the spec itself will also change how people treat you in the game.  Even if it were just for a companion and not your player character.

What I'm more concerned about is that I hope DA:I has a more varied spell tree.  There were so many spells cut from Origins to DA2 that I really hope we can see either many of them return or just have a more varied spell tree in general.

Basically, it got removed because people complain about NPC not reacting to bloodmage, good job everyone.

Not only am I glad it's gone, but I hope it never makes a return to the arsenal of the PCs.  I'm fine with NPCs having it, because they can suffer the appropriate consequences.

Im okay with it being gone only because it didn't mean anything. I would of liked reactions, people leaving you, maybe having to go about the whole game solo even. but it didn't mean a thing. So it was stupid.

I wonder what Solas (an apostate) thinks about blood magic? He enters the fade regularely and is a self taught mage for the most part.....?
