You know I wish people who were upset with the romance options would realize something. IT'S OPTIONAL.

It is to keep the sun out of their eyes. Several cultures, such as the ancient Egyptians, wore that thick of eye make up for that reason. This practice is still used today by people like Football players, just they put it on their cheeks instead of their eyes.

...Either way, it looks completely ridiculous and I hate it. I'm not about to go and justify it.

*snip*

Josephine:

Someone who'll take over all  most paperwork?! HELL YES! *coughs*
Alright, so Josie. Well... I dunno about her. I have a bit more information on her than on Blackwall, but... Same feelings as about Blackwall. I think I'll like her, but romance her? Hmm... I don't think so at this point. But hey, it's up to her to sway my mind :3

There are enough variations of Inquisitors I'm intrigued to play, that there might just be one for her if she can manage to catch my attention >:3

This snippet from Josephine's thread may be of interest to you.

Aidan Scanlan ‏@aidanscanlan

Time for an important decision. Does my Inquisitor romance Sera or Josephine? I've been leading them both on... @RobynEthel @SimplyAllegra

Robyn Addison ‏@RobynEthel

umm... Sera?

Allegra Clark ‏@SimplyAllegra
Mmm, I'm kind of leaning towards Josephine here.

Robyn Addison ‏@RobynEthel

but Sera likes long walks, home cooking, jazz and has a GSOH. What more could anyone want from an elf?

Allegra Clark ‏@SimplyAllegra
Fair, but Josie likes fine wines, laying by the sea, romantic poetry, and blushes adorably. So he wins either way?

Aidan Scanlan ‏@aidanscanlan

My Inquisitor is a she! And she is a sucker for a good blush! GAH! I'll just go kill more Red Templars.

Oh, I meant he like you as the player! But your Inquisitrix also wins either way   ;)

Aidan Scanlan ‏@aidanscanlan
GSOH is important in the hard life of an Inquisitor. And Sera *has* saved my life more than a few times...

Allegra Clark ‏@SimplyAllegra

Isn't it nice to come home to warm, inviting arms who also totally just schooled some nobles and forged alliances?

I feel like I cant be dissapointed. I mean I have worries, but those are natural to, well, looking forward to something. But for the first time I have real options and cant be dissapointed with that. I am leaning toward Sera, but while I love her crudeness and just general attitude, I worry she will be just feisty and nothing else. Josephine sounds kind and fair, but I worry as the Bisexual romance she may be more like a passive flower like Liara/Leliana/Merrill, and those often make me feel like the character was made more for the guys then me. And I want Vivienne to be an option, but I worry she may not be.

But I mean, those are worries and I dont worry about them too much, they are more there to control the exuberance.

@Ishten: Oh, you are right, it is :D Definitly makes her sound more interesting to me ;) Don't care for blushes, but fine wines and laying by the sea? I... can work with that -^^-

Now if the last time would only be 'scolded some nobles' instead of schooled... ;9
Either way, depending on her in-game personality before I learn those details I'll definitly try her out.

I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm a pretty casual gamer, who considers romances as nice bonuses and a chance to get a different perspective on a character, but not a must ^^°

I'll moan and spit fire and shove charaters off cliffs when the time comes ;P

Same here actually. For me romance is a side option, mostly for roleplaying purposes to flesh out the character.

From an RP standpoint, here are what I think of the romances with the info we have so far.

Josephine :- A "Honey I am home !" / "gallant knight returning from adventures to their lady" type of romance. It will be a traditional romance. Given how traditional romance, both in real world and in the gaming one, seem to be vanishing into thin air, this will be a welcome change.

Cassandra :- A tough lady romance. Something reminiscent of Barbara Gordon and Sam Young from Batman Beyond. That or it will be a romance of equals. Equals as in equal in combat capability.

Sera :- Happy go lucky, in the moment, lots of YOLO moment type romance with potential to be more than that.

Solas :- If he is a romance option, it will be like romancing an introverted intellectual. Imagine a romance with Spock or with Mordin. You will get the idea.

Iron Bull :- A romance with plenty of drama, depth and pain (if you are dwarf or an elf :P). Bull is someone with a PTSD, who does not know if he should be with the Qun or not, likes to sleep around, etc.

Vivienne :- A romance that will be political in nature if she is an option. Vivienne is a determined and ambitious political creature, romance to someone like her would only make sense if she could use it.  Which means in all likelihood she will be gated towards human nobles.

Dorian :- Brokeback Inquisition. I don't mean that as an offense, rather as a compliment, I like him as a character. Dorian seems to be man who makes no excuses for what he is and what he chooses to be.

Cullen :- Don't care to know. Not even remotely interested in him.

Nope.

I love them all.

Do people who complain about being 'disappointed' just not plan on doing multiple playthroughs?

For variety sake alone at least?

Do a Qunari chick the romances Sera, or a Dwarven guy who romances Dorian.

What's stopping you?

O////O

DAMN YOU! You just HAD to say that and make that comparisson ><

Did you write a book with the title 'How to make people swoon over a character with a single sentence' or something?!
If it's anything like that, that would be darn hot. ... Actually kind of hoping for it now XD

Also, like your summary and ideas of the other characters.

Your idea of Sera-romance is another reason why at the moment, she's not even remotly interesting to me as a romance.

Especially Vivi, Bull and Dorian ;)

*still can't forget about Solas* ... Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! If it is possible, it will drive me crazy until I get to romance him XD If what little remains of my sanity goes due fangirl overflow, I'm blaming you XD

Uhm... Multiple playthroughs for various contents sake, and roleplaying other POVs? Am I the only one who likes to play like 3 different personality styles of each race that I'm intrigued by?

Yeah I am starting to see that the concept of "role playing" is lost on a lot of people these days

Mm, it's possible to not be a "self-insert" kind of player but still have preferences as to what you do enjoy roleplaying.  I'm personally open to roleplaying nearly any and everything, but I also choose whatever that may be based on the story, setting, the characters around me and basically what kind of RP potential I can get out of it.  I already know I'm not likely to roleplay a dwarf in DAI, for example.  Not that I couldn't play one in general, but the story (backstory doesn't interest me) and the character dynamics (no dwarf LI) don't motivate me to do so.

On topic, I'm not in your position OP.  I have Cullen and Iron Bull as romance options and they were the two I hoped for the most.  Cullen in particular is perfect for the character I plan to play and is looking to be the most interesting of all the companions/advisors in general.  And like you said, Josephine might be what you're looking for.  In fact she might be almost exactly like what you described as your preference.

Like play an elf but with different personality like Hawke had ? Noble , sarcastic and angry ?

Hum , I only play the same even if it seem utterly boring . And not all games offer much flexibilities . So it is kinda hard . Most of the replyabilitie is doing the romance with different species mostly . Though sometimes we can hit a wall due to either actor voices we don't like or something else . Like I didn't and couldn't play MaleShep even though I wanted to try romancing Jack and Miranda due to the voice actor voice . So personal taste is what can limit oneself but also sometimes the dialogue wheel doesn't offer much variante . Either you are a goodie , seem neutral or a jerk .

If you have other way to replay say a human many times in different ways , I ask to share how you do it please ? :)

*whimpers* So... NOT...  helping... I'm not sure if I dare peak at that thread. Can't unsee it now when I look at Solas... Gaaaaaaaah!!!

*sighs*

It's a bit random, but also something I can't unsee ever since I just thought about it... *coughs*

Well... you know Vivi's... horns 'hat'? Doesn't it remind you of someone? Someone very special? It certainly seemed familiar to me and just now I remembered who.

Fitzi! Malefitz! Vivi is a reverse Malefitz *0* And I LOVE Malefitz. Thought I doubt Vivi can turn into an awesome dragon. Since she is the reverse... a unicorn? With lots or rainbow power instead of cool green flames? *is shot by Vivi lovers*

I, for instance, can't roleplay at all. I always end up with the same people and with the same decisions (more or less). Though partly it's just because there weren't so many LIs in previous games, so basically yes, Morrigan and Anders I can stand, everyone else I want to smoulder at some point when I try to romance them. They make me cringle or laugh and that's all about it. I can't deal with someone either extremely slutty or extremely naive. And don't want to harras someone with a past-abuse experience. So I always left with only 1 choice per game. No reasons for a replay.

And by the way, I don't see the point in playing ... hours just to know the outcomes of some actions. Like, I already know I can make Alistair a king or Anora a queen, I don't care because I like and care only about the 1 outcome, the one that suits me best.

Well, you could play a 'jerk' but have some certain soft spots. Like for children, or if someone tries to trick or bully elders.
You get a certain situation given to start out with, but what else happened outside of that, the finer details are up to you. You could take the background 'Sole survivor' in Mass Effect for example and you could either play it as something that is still bothering you or something that you worked off, so it no longer bothers you.

That is part of role-playing when playing an RPG that is a digital game. On-screen might be a script the developers thought of. But every little thing, every little detail that happen's off-screen or how your character reacts to certain situations can be determined by YOU, by what YOU want to have happened in your characters past.

If you want to go that deep.

Personally, I think that a game - especially a role-game - that isn't worth playing AT LEAST a second time... was not worth the money to be purchased by me in the first place. It might be perfect for others, but... A game must intrigue me. Even if I discovered litterally everything in the first go, it must fascinate me enough to wonder 'what will happen if I do this' or 'who will they react if I play that'.

e.g. I'm going to start out with human, male, noble, rogue. Cause that's what I always do. I always play a red haired guy called Amanui - if possible with amber colored eyes. That's the base for me. From there on everything is a fair game. I'll just let the game and the game's world work on me.

Then I'll decide who gets to have fun next.
If I get in the situation where my status as 'human noble' gives me an advantage, I'm already wondering 'how would this play out if I was playing my elven mage?' or 'I wonder if he'd have made that dirty joke if I'd played as a women' :3

I enjoy that.

I sometimes enjoy watching others play on youtube as well, but... it's not the same. I want it to be MY character and MY/my characters decissions. I doubt I can find anyone who'll play the same combinations I'm interested in, play the same style and make the same choices as I would and at the very most - would like the same characters as me. Also... just watching is... boring most of the time. And you'll end up wishing the one in control would do something different you are more interested in. Or you'd think 'I'd have resolved this otherwise'.

Again, that's at least how it's for me :3 Different kind of players have different kinds of enjoyment after all.

Within modern Bioware circles, yes, that statement is somewhat true and here RPG means MMO flash with some choices but outside of Bioware and in circles of Elder Scrolls and Infinity Engine games, roleplaying is very alive and going strong.

I do that sometimes . But I favor the path that say 'give me a good reason to be one' . Hence why most of the time my Paragon bar is filled to the max .

I do roleplay alot of my charachters . I did it in Mass effect 1,2,3 and had alot of fun looking up all the background and see what others peoples made up for themself and comparing the ones I choose .

I usualy stick around the Customization screen ALONE for 1h at least before I hit the Start button  yes I have it that bad !

The only wall I have been having mostly , is playing as a Male . Funny , cose in Baldur's Gate I didn't have any issue then again our Charname was tiny and not voiced .

In Kotor 1&2 I played a male a male for the romance choices that I wanted (mainly Visas) and again , yes we had cutscene but no voicing .

Come Dragon Age Origin and Mass effect and I hit a wall . I can't bring myself to make one . Tough I relyed on using Mods , so in the end I was able to get my Morrigan romance and my female Dalish end up as I wanted :D

This game however Dragon Age Inquisition seem to be filled with alot of promises . And I will try to make a dude no matter what  :P

And Thank you for your reply , gave me something to think about  ;)

@AlexiaRevan: Anytime -^^- I love roleplaying! I've been doing pen & paper rpgs and online text rpgs for over 10 years, so yeah... overactive imaginative brain that could probably come up with lots of 'quests' and side stories that never happen in the game, but are my 'canon' for several characters.

In ME I was playing pretty much Paragon with my femShep (2nd walkthrough) for the majority of the first game. In the second game thought she was pretty pissed, and I used a lot of renegade options. I LIKED it when former party members commented that I/my character had... 'changed'. It settled down in ME3, when Shepard was given a time-out and had enough time to think - and calm down. I played a mix then. Harsh when I needed to be and but generally paragon for most. Still had more renegade points at the end.

And just like I'll always kick the Eclipse soldier of the tower, I'll always HEADBUTT the idiot krogan who dares suggesting the adopted crew baby is less of a warrior than he is. I enjoy that > :D lots. And I enjoy that the shaman enjoys it. I like him :D He's sympathic. Just like Wrex *fangirls a little* - especially when he spotted Shepard when she came to Tchuchunka -^^- Aaah... I love these small character tibits <3

EDIT: Which reminds me: it was a good thing I hadn't played any ME game when I was playing DA2. I would have waited and WANTED a renegade option to smack Anders face with a fist >:(

So then......not Brokeback Inquisition?  Because the guys in Brokeback Mountain were about the opposite of how you described Dorian who, I agree, sounds pretty great as a character.

@ Natarsi: The Renegade button was addictive , especially in Mass effect 2 . Omg , everytime it show it is like yelling 'BINGO!'

Harsh when I needed to be and but generally paragon for most. Still had more renegade points at the end.

hahaha omg , tell me that is not your save on the Masseffectsavegame website that say in big letter 'Kicked whinie soldier when needed to , completed all quest' .  :P

And just like I'll always kick the Eclipse soldier of the tower,

haha like hitting the idiot Krogan for questioning our Baby Krogan precence . Sending the Merc flying is teaching Jack new tricks lol -sigh- they grow up so fast those kids

WANTED a renegade option to smack Anders face with a fist >

You and me both

I would think if someone is complaining about being disappointed they'd be the least likely to do multiple playthroughs. You would have reason to do multiple playthroughs if there are a LOT of LIs you like... not only a few.

At present there is only one male I am somewhat interested in romancing. That does kind of suck, so I'm hoping I can add another to the roster of potential LIs.

If I had gotten everything I wanted, all three guys I was into were available to me, then that's three different playthroughs I could do. As it is, I'm stuck at one for now. (Though of course I will do more than that to romance Sera and Josephine)

@AlexiaRaven: Aahahahahaha! XD Noooo! I never contributed a save XD I got into Mass Effect WAY TOO LATE! I'm super picky about sci-fi video games since I had a few tries and flops. Only shortly before last year's x-mas did a friend convince me to give the triology a try (it was only 30 EUR back then and I figured I wouldn't loose much money if it didn't work of me). Well... What can I say. I finished my first walkthrough 1,5 weeks after I started - and yes, all three parts.
And promptly went for the second round.

Yes. No one touches the crew baby >:( No one.
... I'm curious if that will also go for Cole. If he's like in Asunder, than yes, the big bad Inquisitor will take Cole under his wing. And certain characters - I'm SO looking at you, Sera & Vivi - can crawl up the walls - I don't care. They can stay the heck away if they don't like it. I don't need them. *huffs*

I think we probably were not alone. I admit, I didn't kill him, but I wish I could have magically chained him down and made him see how his actions made 'the world a better place for mages' and see him suffer as he realizes the true consequences => more restrains for mages. And it's his fault.

Also XD Thanks for the links XD I actually didn't knew these *is having fun reading*
