I just want to say it's really really easy to tell LGBT to be happy that Bioware is doing ANYTHING for us, and it's really really really easy to tell us we shouldn't be disappointed by being at the bottom of the heap again-- when you're a straight person who has always always had the most options/representation in every piece of media you consume. So... forgive me for being disappointed that the ONE company that acknowledges my existence still puts me in last place.

I'm still gonna buy the game, however the last LI shakes out. I'm still gonna buy it because it's still the ONLY game series that lets me play out characters/relationships that I can relate to. If I don't buy it, I don't have anywhere else to go for content like this.

So, yeah, I'm a little disappointed in the spread of LIs so far. Because I thought maybe this time around Bioware might throw their LGBT fans a bigger bone.

Actually I am a bit disappointed about the Li. I don't think Bioware has put enough restriction on the romance. Like every Li should be gated to only one particular race and gender.

I have not read all 15 pages of this but.... How can you complain about the LI revealed? Of all the characters they have revealed what like two are not LI? If you can't find something you like this time around you just want to be disappointed.

Well, this game is actually the first time that I haven't found a romanceable character that I like. Except for DA2, but then I ended up settling for Isabela.

But thankfully, I believe that my first character would be a dwarf anyway, so I wouldn't mind being a no-nonsense skull breaker for my first playthrough.

I think these love interests are impressively awful this time around personally.

Yeah, I commonly use the metaphor of how yes, with BioWare games, there IS representation while most other games and companies don't offer it, but it comes across as being at a restaurant and you're given a hamburger while everyone else gets filet mignon. It's not that you don't like hamburger, or that this particular hamburger is not well made, but you can still see that you're not being treated equally and fairly.

LIs aren't really a big deal for me. For I only romance one LI per game. Sure I do many playthroughs but I've only persuade one romance. For DA:O  it was Morrigan, and for DA:2 it was Merrill. In DA:I it will be Cassandra. Soooo I'm not disappointed

Likewise I tend to only romance one character, I've tried to do more but I think I was only able to play two love interests in origins, Zevran because he was my favorite and Alistair for story reasons (thank goodness for the keep, I should be able to see all romance turnouts because of itXD). In the second game it was Fenris, despite the fact that I liked and disliked his personality. Solas' reveal made it easier just for me to pick Iron Bull, whom was my favorite of the bunch of romances anyway, despite the fact that I'm not usually fond of bald or meaty, bull is both qunari and warrior so he works perfectly for my planned character.

I understand where you're coming from, Bioware IS the only company doing this.

But they're also doing better than you think...

This is the ONLY Bioware game where there are homosexual companions. If you are a homosexual male you get Iron Bull and Dorian and if you're a homosexual female you get Sera and Josephine(same romance content/ advisor capacity only).

Not to mention a bisexual female gets Cullen, Iron Bull, Sera, Josephine and Solas. A bisexual male gets Iron Bull, Dorian, Cassandra and Josephine.

That's not even with the final LI.

Don't expect a "bigger bone" from the company leading the RPG change, Inquisition is the "biggest bone" Bioware has thrown the LGBT community so far.

I love it how people expect from Bioware so much when there's no precedent for this or bottom line that has to be drawn at any spot.

So congratulations! You're getting more than previously considered in a video game! We all are.

I disagree completely.

That would mean zero choice. That's called an oxymoron. Zero choice.

Wow, that would mean your entire decision for who you wanted your inquisitor to be in terms of race and gender would revolve around your chosen LI, if you wanted to pursue one at all.  That would be really...confining.  It's supposed to be "become the inquisitor" or what have you, not "pick your partner."  I'm feeling a lot better about the speed of the LI reveal now, at least.

I suppose Vivienne is my only hope for keeping my Mage-Romance streak going. I kind of have doubts about her personality, though. And it's totally possible that she isn't a potential romance.

We need another female mage!

Er no, not really?

Because gay dudes might very likely end up with 2, which is the same number as DA2 and ME3? And if Vivi is straight, gay ladies end up with 2 too (one advisor, one companion even). So it's the straight people getting more again, and that's what we're complaining about.

I'm waiting for the last reveal to see where exactly we stand, but idk. I'm braced for impact tbh.

Hmm yes you are right, but I meant more along the lines of no one else is doing this but Bioware. But yeah.

And I'm braced for impact too lmao.. it won't work though

Hmm... I gotta agree with Fizzie Panda.

Sometimes I feel the overtunes of the complains for more feels like a kid who already got two sweets, but once 'one more' just because it already/always gets two and it's nothing special anymore?

Bioware is at least trying to give an option for everyone.

That not every character is to everyone's likning and that some characters that you wanted to romance with so-and-so and now is not possible is of course a disappointment...

But rather looking at what we don't have in this game, how about we focus on WHAT we have.

If Bioware had stuck to their original plot and made the Inquisitor human only, I'm guessing half the characters wouldn't be avaible? Solas at least totally wouldn't be avaible. I think IB was also originally locked? I admit I'm only now following the news cause it's getting close to release and I'm super-excited.

Also, I'm looking at Dragon Age: Inquisition as an RPG. 'Normal' RPGs - especially JRPGs, don't have a romance option. At all.

I'm not going to say it's a Bioware game feature, because I did have romance options in other games before, but... After having played the whole lenght and depth of a Bioware romance once... you are spoiled and will be unable to enjoy those... short, barelly-there side-elements?

Unfortunately you also want to experience it again and if there is no character you want for 'your' canon character, it - of course - sucks. I can understand that much.

But hey, the characters are there. Give them a choice. They might surprise you ;)

Actually Bioware is not the only company, that is far from the true. Bioware is the only company with romances that is true.

Guild Wars 2 as two main characters that help the protagonist in the new story. They are a couple Majory a detective and Kasmeer an ex-noble, and surprise, surprise no hetero couple at the moment in the present main story. They have also a main character with a physical disability. And a Norn that is molato, that was given to the his father to be raise. And a Charr that is worry about her profession and spot near a important person on the Charr society. Also there is ShadowRun Returns that has a lot of diversity too, Fallout New Vegas and so on.

Sure Bioware is maybe the most famous but not at all the only one.

Very disappointed.  I would trade Cassandra, Cullen, Cole, Iron Bull, Jospehine, & Solas all for a straight or bi female dwarf.

I think I'm more disappointed that I won't be able to explore certain characters romantically the way I've been hoping to all this time. For example, I reeeaaallllyyyy wanted to romance Sera with a male Dalish because I wanted to see how two elves from two radically different backgrounds would react to one another and how they would reach a romantic point. I also wanted to romance Dorian with a female Qunari because I wanted to see how these two individuals from opposing sides would get along with one another.

I am also disappointed with kind of the lack of diversity, although I probably shouldn't speak so soon. I can already guess what how Cassandra is and her loyalties to the Chantry and the Maker would make it awkward for her to romance someone who's a "heathen" like an elf or a dwarf.

But like I said, I was hoping to have more romance option with all these characters from very different backgrounds no matter the players sexual preference.
