Are you disappointed that you can't contrast these backgrounds, or that you wouldn't be comfortable doing it in the way that is "allowed?" Do not treat them as one and the same.

Really!!! I don't understand what the fuss is all about. Have you even played the game? How can you say you don't like the romances even before playing the game? Moreover, a heterosexual male has 2 romance options. I think everyone knows this. Bioware has named 8 out of the 12 possible party members as romance options. As for the rest, Cole is a spirit, Varric is "spoken for", Leliana was a romance option in origins and everything I have read about Vivienne suggest that she wouldn't interested in romance though I wanted her to be a romance option for my male inquisitor. She has her agenda to think about and I don't think she has time for silly romances. As for the available romances, I know heterosexual females have more options but dude what's the big deal. Bioware has given male heterosexual characters two great romances already in past games - Tali and Morrigan. And who knows maybe Cassandra or Josephine's romance turn out to be great. Romance is just one aspect of the game. I'm sure Bioware will give a lot to cheer about.

The other thing I'm disappointed about with the romance roster is the fact that there are so few female options for male inquisitors. I know David Gaider says that everyone has the same number of options they've always had but I count two females (Cassandra and Josephine) for male inquisitors and four males (Iron Bull, Blackwall, Solas and Cullen) for females.

 

I was also disappointed when I found out that Cullen was race restricted, I guess it makes sense. While he was in the Circle he was surrounded by elves and humans, not a whole lot of dwarves and he probably doesn't like qunari because of them invading Kirkwall.

 

I was hoping the second race restricted romance would be another elf or even a dwarf, because it made perfect sense. Dwarves can only reproduce (at least it hasn't been confirmed otherwise yet) with other dwarves. And elves have more reason than most to dislike humans and seek romance with their own kind.

I thought that it was hinted at in the game that Sandal is a half-dwarf.

It was hinted but not confirmed. And other than Sandal there is still no evidence of elven/dwarven compatibility. If an elf mates with a human they get a human with elven features. No one knows or has said anything about what you get if a dwarf and an elf get together.

Actually I am a bit disappointed about the Li. I don't think Bioware has put enough restriction on the romance. Like every Li should be gated to only one particular race and gender.

I cannot imagine the breakouts. Female Elf-You are straight or Bi but you can only have Solas, Female Human- You are Straight or Bi and can only have Cullen, Female Dwarf- You are straight or Bi and can only have Blackwall, Female Qunari- You are a lesbian or Bi and can only have Sera.

 

Men?

Male Elf- You are straight or Bi and can only have josephine, Male Human- Either straight or Bi and can only have Cassandra, Male Dwarf- Either gay or Bi and can only have Dorian, Male Qunari- You are gay or Bi and can only have Iron Bull

That sound like 'If I can't have what I want , then plz put more restriction so everyone will feel what I'm feeling right now . Then it be equal for everyone or until Bioware give me what I want aka : more romance for me or more limitation plz' . Or I'm wrong ?
