I'm asking because I've never done it before. If the gameplay premise requires some shared assumptions, it would be nice to know what those assumptions are.

As we've said it assumes you listen to the voice at the beginning telling you what to do and then go do it.

The shared assumption is that there are things to kill and you're there to kill them.  If they move and aren't player characters, you should attack them.

Now when little Suzie shows up in the middle of the match and he fireballs her to a blackened crisp, we'll know who to blame.

Hey everyone - I have 2 questions in regard to multiplayer. I apologize if they have already been answered in the thread. I'm new.

1. Can my husband and I play multiplayer together? Meaning in the same room on the same console via two controllers?

2. A developer mentioned (forgive me, I am paraphrasing) that he sunk about 150 hours into Dragon Age Inquisition after a very tedious/detailed playthrough. Were those 150 hours logged on single player mode only, or did that include hours invested into multiplayer?

1. No, via online only.

2. The context of that answer was that it was a completionist single player play through.

EDIT - as we all scramble to answer - ninja'd

1. No, multiplayer is still one player per console.  You would need two consoles.

2. I do believe this was only a single player playthrough.  I know that Patrick Weekes tweeted that it took him 30 hours alone just to fully complete one of the zones in single player.

I am sad about #1, but happy about #2.

And thank you to the folks who responded so promptly. Very much appreciated.

How do you fireball little Suzie?

Easy you just lead her a little less.

There was a "protect" or "escort" mini event in the multiplayer with a non enemy NPC. I am not sure if they were immune to friendly fire but do not think so because they died really fast when the mage hit them with a fire burst.

... Susie. An eight year old human noble girl in the middle of Dark Town with a bunch of demons at this time of night carrying a Quantum Physics book? She's about to start some **** Zedd. She's about eight years old. Those books are way too advanced for her. If you ask me, I say she's up to something. And to be honest, I'd appreciate if you ease up off by back about it...Or do I owe her an apology?

A litte puzzled by your question.

ME3MP didn't have it. Why would you expect it in DAMP?

And how would you have time to type stuff, you're in battle...?

With a headset/mic I can just flip my mute button and talk - instant communication

If many PC players didn't talk on that platform then that's rather up to them.

Had a good chat on Xbox from time to time.

It's pretty clear that the game mechanics are designed to operate uniformly across platforms.

Mass Effect 3 was special in that it was quite possibly the only multiplayer PC game that did not possess text chat. Not everybody on PC possesses a mic (I didn't) and not everybody was willing to use one anyway.

There was an uproar because the button to activate text chat was present during the pre-release demo. When asked about why the button did not work, BioWare assured us that it would be fixed by release. The way they fixed it was by removing everything to do with text chat, thus prompting one of the longer petitions on the old BSN forum.

At the very least, a lobby chat would be enough to have some basic coordination in place before a match.

There's an unofficial list here :)

I think it just lacks the Hunter, who they revealed today.

Omission of text chat might be a design decision to discourage the sort of toxicity that sometimes affects online multiplayer gaming.

I think that's the case and I'm actually grateful there's no text chat, dealing with that crap in other MP games is irritating.

If such a feature is added I just hope it's optional.
