You're meant to play the game however you want. Saying there is only one right way is incredibly douchey.

But DA is a Real Time with Pause Strategy game, not a Hack & slash. The Pause & Play Stuff is like 90% of the Combat system. That's how you play the game effectively. Not running around spamming abilities. 

 

This multiplayer just seems to be a Castrated version of the SP's Combat system but with 3 other players. 

 

IMO there is no Draw to this mode, no reason to play it. A worse form of DA:I combat with no Narrative Relevance or reward. Which to me is a waste of time. But if people enjoy it then more power to them.

This MP needs a Rising-inspired Blade Mode, might as well come full circle with some hacko-slasho-button-o-masho, that would spark some interest for me.

To be honest part of me hopes for the best. Since i always thought best rpg of all will be a game with Blackisle-Bioware quality single player paired with a Diablo type co-op multiplayer that supported by creators of the game. This is "THE" winning combination. However i have been disappointed by Bioware so many times i fear it may go all wrong.

 

I think you are at least earnest in your worries and how you put them and I appreciate being able to read someone who has hopes but is being OBJECTIVE about the potential negativity. So thank you for that :)

Sweet baby jesus are you serious? How can you be so salty about something that is completely optional, has free DLC and doesn't touch/hurt your SP in ANY way?

 

Ruining it? How? Your SP isn't harmed at all - you're still getting the entirety of the game and not having to give one iota or care towards MP since, you know, it's 100% optional.

 

You're losing NOTHING but ignoring MP and you're not being "hurt" in any way by it's inclusion - the fact that you seriously act like you've been emotionally harmed by them announcing MP in the game is just absurd beyond belief.

 

It's October 2011 all over again...

Soooo, who's up for a round of DA:I MP when the game releases? :-D

 

 I'm good thanks, rather not have to rely on other people to get stuff done. But that's why I have AI companions and you have human companions. Good luck with that.

I barely ever used pause in DA:O.... I always felt it was a complete disconnect from the action on the screen... And it wasn't really needed either, since the tactics were easy to set up-

They do have banter though.

 

Sounds like IGN was wrong on the number of characters according to Bioware

 

Are you going to release new characters?

·         Dragon Age multiplayer will launch with 12 MP characters, and we will release new characters after launch.

 

Although 3 of those could be male/female variants of the same character/class similar to ME.

In almost all single player games I am a serial pauser.  Always have been always will be.  When I decided to try out ME3 mp I was VERY concerned about a no pause dynamic.  I was totally unsure if I could pull it off at all.  And as with about 90% of the people that tried it who were pausers we all sucked....for a number of games.  But got better at it and better still until we became decent at it.  It is amazing how much your overall play improves in a single player game after playing the no pause for while.  I went back to ME3 single player and was a vastly better player even if I still paused.

Yayyy!!!  I was hoping they'd include an MP component.  Glad to hear it has no bearing on the SP as well.  :)

 

Crikey, up to 200hrs on SP, then way too many on MP... wow...  think it's time to book some vacation time the week of Nov 18th, and schedule some sleep here and there.

I was concerned about MP but I think my fears have been put to one side.

Yet can some one confirm that I could still get a platinum trophy without doing MP?

Plus do you think it will get to the stage where you could just steam roller the content as I am not a big speaker on line?

Lastly assume this will need ps+ or equivalent?

I wasn't really enthused about the possible multiplayer segment in DA:I but from what I've seen it actually looks quite interesting.

 

I'll be trying it out for sure.

Looking forward to the Multiplayer. Glad to see it will be incorporated in to DA:I. Glad it is not tied with the single player though.

You are only controlling a single character. Yes it is a different style, but underneath, the basic mechanics, it is still the same.

Will playing these quests affect the missions you send soldiers on?

Hasn't Allan specifically said they made a mistake?

Because continuing to argue that they never admitted it after a developer has specifically admitted it in a conversation with you would be very bad faith.
