we are told that MP is a different type of game with different features from the SP so Bioware tests battles and encounters in MP and transfers that knowledge into making changes to the SP game and its features but there is still no effect on the SP game from MP.

I don't think you're understanding what they're saying.

If you play MP and learn HOW a reaver plays and what tactics work against certain enemies you can bring that knowledge into SP and utilize what you learned.  If a SP dev played MP and said 'hey, that enemy set did xyz.  That was pretty cool.  Let's try that in SP' I don't see the issue at all.

But how does tactical combat view plays in multiplayer? It looks very action oriented from what little I have seen.

And the Eastern Market has faired better?

Try handhelds. And the PS3. There are plenty.

As opposed to the Western RPG, which is down to: Bioware, Bethesda, Obsidian, and CDPR.

On the fence about this. In general, I am getting tired of seeing the whole  "Now with MP!!" feature popping up with practically every game that is getting released.  MP does not equal out to making a game better than it was as a SP or a CO-OP.

I get the reasoning of people wanting a SP to remain a SP because that's how the game started and it is what their memory is of the game.  I'll give the MP a chance if I end up with any friends who will play it on Origin, but if we end up with the whole "MP will not effect SP" response only to end up with an ME3 repeat of needing resources from the MP to get a good outcome in the SP, then yes, I will get beyond annoyed with it.

Thank you very much for replying, Allan! :D That should put a lot of people at ease!

It won't. For some people the mere existence of MP is an affront to Dragon Age. Much like how I see Cullen is an affornt to Dragon Age. People absolutely hate different things for different reasons.

Have you seen the western RPG genre in the last decade plus?

I think RPGs are in a great place right now.

Then again, I'm now wedded to Steam sales because every year so many good games come out that I'd go hungry trying to buy them all at full price.

"With these needs in mind, we developed the Inquisition HQ. There, you will be able to access all of your MP characters and their inventory. You will be able to change your loadout, salvage items, and craft new items. You can do all that on the go because it will run on PCs, tablets, and smartphones. We will give more details about Inquisition HQ in the following months."

This sounds cool.
If it is anything like Destiny's companion App it will be cool

So far as Mark knows.

And Mark does know.

You can wait until after the game is released and it's confirmed that there's no system tying multiplayer to single-player if you choose; that's perfectly acceptable. But I don't personally have any doubt in Mark's assurance, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised should you give him the benefit of the doubt here.

True Mark,Mike and Allan are like all "stellar, honest stand up Dudes" but here's the problem : They are required to tow the company line,They work for Bioware,Bioware is owned by EA and we all know EA "can't say Good morning without lying twice" so while their omission isn't a "lie" even if they know the truth they are not allowed to tell.

Sorry, I'm trying to keep track of every post but there's justo too many... I gotta say, I really don't understand what the big problem with DAI having a MP is :/
I never liked multis, never played one before ME3's... And yet at first, when I knew there will be a MP, I was like "but I dun want to play with people... I'll be terrible at it and they'll laugh at meeh". I did not try it until months after ME was out. And to my surprise, I liked it! It was fun! And I'm still playing whenever I can (yess, love the N7 Fury <3 )
So with DAI's? I'll sure give it a try, even if I'm more interested in SP.
Just my random thoughts about it :)

It doesn't.  There's not tactical or pause in MP.

Eh, if I remember correctly there are a bunch of articles on how the JRPG market is becoming pretty stagnant, I still enjoy them though games like Tales of Xillia, but the Japanese gaming market is having a lot of issues

Damn straight I'm serious, that obviously why they have been deliberately avoiding the question for months because they know it has "shameless tacked on cash grab" written all over it hell they have even thrown in micro transactions with "platinum coins" All I have to say is "Shame on You Bioware Shame on You!"After this game you'll get no more Deluxe/Special/Collectors Edition Pre Order's from me,from now on your relegated to 50% and "$10 Bargin Bin" Status my Collectors edition money in future will be going to developers like CD Project Red that don't appeal to the lowest common denominator and tack on a pointless mode.

Know whats pointless? Splashing in a puddle to dry off.

Know what isn't pointless? Developing more content.

Preset based on specialization, I believe.

Nature is just nature. One genre dies, others spring forth, and the cycle goes on as peoples tastes change over time.

It's not good or bad, its just the way things go. Moving on and untethering ones self from being beholden to such fleeting things as genres, is what's more important then how strongly someone likes something.

So I have a few questions, since I've never tried CO-OP modes before:

1) When Devs say that MP won't affect SP, do they mean *at all*? So, if I opt to not play MP, I won't miss any ending combinations, any missions/quests, any NPCs, any conversations, any weapons/armour, any resources, any crafting options, any decorations, etc.? So I could (only theoretically) delete any and all files relating to MP off my computer and still be able to boot up and play SP with no problems because MP simply doesn't touch it at all?

2) If I did opt to play MP, how would that work? Most notably, 1) would the game find a bunch of strangers for me to play with or would I only be able to play with people on my friends list and 2) would I only be able to play with people on the same platform as me?

If anyone could provide some insight, I'd be grateful. :)

If it works like ME3 there will be a matchmaking system if you don't have friends to play with.

So you will always be able to play a game

My guess is you will be pleasantly surprised playing with strangers

I certainly was with ME3

I was pretty anti online gaming before I tried ME3 and was not really interested in the MP at all

but because it was Mass Effect, a series I loved, I tried it out and loved the MP too.

The Multiplayer does not have any impact on the single player game.  This doesn't speed up advisor missions.

What if you lose track of time and end up spending four hours playing multiplayer?

1. At all.
2. If it works like ME3's matchmaking, you either 1) created a lobby and either set it so that strangers could be randomly matched to you, or set it to friends-only, 2) or you just randomly joined someone else's lobby. As for platforms, most MP modes are not cross-platform in games, so I assume this one will be limited a pool of players from each platform.

For those who think that Co-op MP is the worst idea ever, may want to open their mind a little.

I thought that about ME3 and was only intending to play enough to got a chance at the "Good ending".  Boy was I wrong, playing with others makes it a much more fun experience I've since sunk 1200 hours into ME3MP.

At least consider trying it.

It's worked the other way round for me.  I wasn't going to bother with DA:I if it was just SP, now I probably will.

Worst news ever....

Indeed, I wonder what was simplified, or dumbed down in the sp for this.

Great, now I'm going to have even more strain on my personal relationships. The wife will leave me for not paying attention to her, the dogs will run away for not being fed, I'll lose my job due to lack of attendance. Thanks a lot Bioware, thanks.
