I don't do party's as I spend enough time at work watching people make total asshats out of themselves and have no desire to do that or "interact with others" in my off time either where I prefer the peace and quiet of not having to hear other people go "Yap yap yap look at my shiny shield"

So why are you on here then?

It's restricted to make it unique. It has nothing to do with MP. It's not new.

"I like that design choice for SP. Makes the ____ feel less like (other class). Good job Biower!"

MP announced

"BIOWER U NOBS U RUINED MY SP WITH ALL THESE OBVIOUSLY DESIGNED MP DESISIONS!"

I do not believe for a second ME3 MP and the DAI MP DLCs were given as purely altruistic freebies - MP made them money from the purchase of Bioware points for packs. And ME3's SP DLCs were all well worth their price, though I PERSONALLY felt they made a mistake with From The Ashes. Javik should have been in the standard game. I can't change that and it's something I disagree with but it didn't detract from the overall quality of the DLCs they offered, a trend that continued from ME2's mold. Price points are something that will come down to a pure opinion debate.

Australian players would like to have a word with you..and Omega was certainly not worth 30aud.

for how long

They released 6 free MP DLCs.

There's going to be free MP DLC for DA:I. Charging for it makes no sense; it splits the community and means less money from microtransactions.

Which probably evened out by forcing everyone to pay $12 for the same SP content (extra character) that had been free with purchase with DAO, DA2, and ME2. Besides, how many of those were just ported over SP content?

Are you implying that free MP dlcs were funded by SP dlc revenue? Because from a business standpoint, that makes no sense whatsoever(I can go over it in more detail, but it should be fairly obvious as to why something intended to generate revenue should be able to justify its own expenditures). Just because another project(multiplayer) was able to justify free delivery of content through a separate revenue stream, and the advantage of a larger number of direct purchases(rather than second-hand purchases which don't provide them with money) was not, does not mean MP somehow caused that.

As for the dlcs, most of it was original. Jetpack turians and support volus are unique to the MP experience.

You'll read into it what you want to, obviously.

Have you ever had a project where a fresh set of eyes, or new idea ended up helping you perfect something?

Fresh eyes yes but not going to a different system with SP features missing and a few random maps that might not be the ones from SP to then test if the MP game is fun to take that encounter design and put it in SP. I would be happier if the SP encounters were designed especially for the part of the game they are in and tested in that encounter using all the features and assets of the SP game available.

I have to say, I am a bit disappointed.

I was really really hoping for MP that was interwoven within the single player world/game, something like Dark Souls, or full co op a la Baldur's Gate style.

This kind of MP sounds very much like a "Separate" game that is tacked onto the game. I am not going to say I don't like it yet, I haven't played it and don't know everything about it, but it just sounds like a separate game tacked on top of a single player game with no connectivity between them or anything, the exact opposite of the MP I like.

I don't play DA for "diablo" style dungeon crawling and loot grinding, I play it for theexploration , story, and characters, and I was hoping mp would have enhanced THAT experience and not been something thrown in.

I'd love to have had drop in-drop out co op where a friend could join your game (or you their's) and play through the single player game with them (obviously the host would be the one doing all the "talking" to npc's and things so you can't mess up anything for them). To me that would have been 100x more interesting then a dungeon crawling loot grinding mp tacked on to this.

I know, I know, EA are evil commie-nazis and all that. But could we just once not disregard all evidence in favor of doomsday prophesies.

DAO had an extra character, free with the purchase of a new game. Shale.

DA2 had an extra character, free via preorder purchase of a new game. Sebastian.

ME2 had an extra character, free via purchase of a new game. Zaeed.

Now, ME3 forced you to pay for the new character, which was much more vital to the actual storyline. While MP users got "free" DLC content. Guess who got the shaft there?

And now DAI doesn't even have a companion DLC free or not.

So your point ?

The Multiplayer does not have any impact on the single player game.  This doesn't speed up advisor missions.

Good.

Now I can just pretend that it doesn't exist.

All of which can also be unlocked by simply playing the game.

But are paid for via the MPer microtransactions.

My understanding is that Australia is half the problem with pricing, not EA/Bioware entirely. I sympathize as someone who lives on an island in the middle of the Ocean as I understand dumb price kicks but my overall point still stands, regardless of one or two regions getting some shitty pricing.

Edit: Fixed some less than diplomatic wording >.>

I kind of agree to this, but I figured it would never happen because of Mass Effect 3 and how vocal people here are.

Much like the RPG industry, the grognards rule the roost because perfection happened in 2001.

As far as I recall Sebastian was available 'for free' with the Signature edition. If you didn't get it you had to buy it.

So this thread is moving a little too fast for me to keep up with at the moment, but I just want to say that I find this very exciting news! I'm also glad that they don't let us use our Inquisitor for it, I loved how ME3's MP handled it, it makes it feel like the world is that much bigger. I mean, if your inquisitor can run about doing all these extra little missions (which I'm sure there's plenty of side quests in SP -I'd be severely disappointed if not- but that's not quite the same in my mind) it kind of makes the world feel that much smaller. By letting us visit some areas that we could say our Inquisitor doesn't have time to visit because, hey, Fade apocalypse is kinda going on and they're probably doing a million other things anyways, I feel it makes the world feel larger, and lets us clearly see that there's more to the story than just what our Inquisitor is doing.

The fact that they are keeping the multiplayer DLC free is awesome. I don't mind paid single player DLC so much, because no one's pressuring you to get it, but when companies charge for the multiplayer DLC it feels like they're pressuring you into buying it so you can still play the same multiplayer experience with everyone else.

I look forward to spending plenty of extra hours in the multiplayer.

How sad is that then if that's what makes you accept it. Usually that's bad game design all around.

Yeah.. With currency earned by PLAYING the game. You can also decide to spend real money on it, but you aren't forced to. I havn't spend a single dime on ME3's MP, and I got all the unlocks. All it took was time and dedication.

Completely disinterested in this multiplayer announcement. Just not for me, especially if it's a run around loot fest, as it sure sounded like it was as described by Mitchy D.

But if that's your thing, happy for you all.

Yeah, the development is funded via microtransactions. I wasn't talking about personal unlocks.
