I think, in retrospect, that I replied to a message which had the intentional focal point of dispelling a particular brand of nonsensical criticism, rather than being open to my own unique rationale for not being excited. So I probably didn't accomplish much of anything by typing out what I posted. Sorry. I did feel like being vocal, though, so I guess I'm satisfied with my rather pointless statement. Ha.

I would not have a problem with DA:I multiplayer if they did it this way :- Release it as an optional content that we can download and install or not download and not install at our whim.
What do I mean by this ? I mean when they ship the basic version DA:I, be it on disk or on Origin, the multiplayer component is a separate free download that you can choose to have or not have.
For example, in Origin store, we have the ME3, buy that and you get a few things along with it such as the Extended Cut. It is free, it comes with the game, you do not have to install it to play ME3 and it is completely up to you to do so.
Similarly, DA:I multiplayer should be done this way. It should come as additional free content that you can choose to download and install or not do those thing.
Because that is what Bioware has been touting all this while yes ? That DA:I multiplayer is separate from the singplayer. Well, if it is separate and if Bioware is all about choices, then why not give us this choice ?
With over 200 hours of content and a strong preference for singeplayer, Some of us don't even want to have it installed. We don't mind it being shipped with the game but to someone like me and to some others who do not want to play it, just having multiplayer installed equates to a waste of HDD / SSD space.
Then I will have no problems with multiplayer because then, it would truly be separate. It would still be free, it would still come with the base game but whether to install it, is entirely up to you.
Thoughts and comments ?
Why must it be fully separate though? Installed or not, you don't need to play it. Unless you're concerned about saving hard drive space, I don't see the purpose of this. The game still costs the same amount whether it would have MP or not. I've seen some gamers take the opposite route. For example, in Starcraft 2, I'll sometimes look through the achievements of players after a game, and I'll notice all their achievements are from the multiplayer, and they've never even touched the single-player campaign. I've never heard any Starcraft players demand that the single-player content be made an optional installation. Why must MP be treated as if it were an infectious disease whose mere installation is somehow a "problem", even though you don't need to play it?

Why would you want to waste extremely valuable programmer time on additional (and unnecessary) installation tasks? I'd rather they use that programmer time to fix bugs and improve performance.

See, this is the sort of opinion I can't understand. Games nowadays have so many features it's rare for a gamer to want or be satisfied with every single feature they have. I've made this comparison before, but I feel a similar antipathy to romances in Bioware games. To me, it's just a bunch of cheesy Twilight-level dialogue with laughable dry-humping as the reward. Yet one look at these forums shows there's alot of gamers who love them (even obsessed with them). I understand that and accept their existence as long as I can ignore them while still being able to complete the game. And yet some people are treating the mere existence of MP as a deal-breaker. That I will never understand. MP is just another feature of this game, like the romances. If you don't like it, you don't need to play it.
What's so hard to understand?People want games that cater to their preferences, some people don't like cinematic games and they would be pretty annoyed if every single game was like that.
Some don't like shooters....the exact same reaction would occur if every game was a shooter.
In a age where pure single player AAA games are dwindling people are justifiably going to be upset, since their games are pretty much either single player with a multiplayer or online component at this point.

Some just like chocolate and penut butter separate so they can enjoy them equally. That and they could have a allergy relating to either one.

it does not take that long to make a optional installer, rather then force it upon those of us who want nothing to do with MP or have it take up disk space we can use for other games if it truly is a optional as its supporters claim then give me the OPTION to not install this content that i will never use because to me the MP is "utterly unnecessary and worthless to me"

New installer needs scheduling. Producer time.
New installer needs writing. Programmer time.
New installer needs testing on all platforms. QA time.
Yeah. Totally trivial.

Oh no, you have to look at a menu option every time you load up the game.
I don't know how you'll ever manage. Maybe somebody will create a mod just for you that removes it from the menu so that you can pretend it doesn't exist.

I'm not allergic to MP just some of the degenerates that play it, I can count on 1 hand the number of people i have met that are not total douchebags or repeatably yap on about their "prestige level" or some special camo/weapon they got for getting to that prestige level in all the thousands of MP lobbies I have been in over the years, most FPS lobbies are full of campers most Air/Space Combat and racing lobbies are full of Rammers or other "no skillers".given a choice between that and said dev time required to make MP fuctional being allocated to something more useful like bug fixing or additional SP content,MP loses everytime

I'd actually pay money for a mod that removes the MP period, hell probs try removing it myself eventually since its a waste of disk space ![]()

I was hoping you could reduce my fears of the main single player game being affected by the coop being added into the game?
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
The only thing MP did was test combat more, making for a better SP experience.
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
DAI MP is very light on dialogue & cinematics, uses same combat as SP. Only resource it took that SP could use was level art.
Patrick Weekes @PatrickWeekes
And if you find every region of every unlockable area and can still say, "Levels were too small," I will shake your hand. ![]()

Okay, that reduces fears alot tyvm just wanted to clear that up and you have ty dude appreciated!!

You clearly are not a developer, if you think separating out the multiplayer component into a separate application with its own installer is anywhere near trivial.

Oh man it came here too?
I don't like MP. Really I think adding it to DAI is bleh at best.
I will do the magical thing of ignoring the MP button. It really is that simple.
Not simple enough for some it seems.

I mean I don't get it. I get the BW might be lying rage (I feel the same a bit) but ignoring the benefits to it even being there for people that want it (much like other content such as romances and alternate races) just baffles me.
If you don't want it don't play it. It doesn't even have an effect on SP so...
It's there for those who want it and have fun doing it. Much like romances, alternate quests and evil choices (
)
I'm just so confused.

Don't need to be since I make installers for Skyrim,DA2 and Fallout mods in my spare time for people who don't want to use Nexus mod Manager creating a simple executable takes very little time tbh.
