I was curious as to why they didn't enjoy it.  It's hard to empathize with someone if you don't understand why their issues with it.

There are several reasons one could dislike multiplayer, and if someone has decided to dislike multiplayer because of bad experiences, then that's a damn shame and it's worth encouraging them to try again, this time with a BSN group already established for DAMP.

On the other hand, if they simply don't like gaming with others, or require a story for them to be interested, then that's totally cool.

People have different reasons for disliking something. For multiplayer there are indeed multiple reasons, and if someone has decided to dislike multiplayer because of bad experiences, then that's a damn shame and it's worth encouraging them to try again, this time with a BSN group already established for DAMP.

Ah I guess I was feeling defensive cause frankly I'm sick of the "OMG you don't like MP you antisocial loner." remarks. I guess I got defensive.

Is it fair to say your opposition to multiplayer is the forced interaction with other people?

My problem is that the Asshats breed like rabbits and the none asshats are few and far between on the whole MP lobbies are just toxic cesspools where the odd normal player is drowned out by the mindless masses.When you have to spend you day at work as I do dealing with the general stupidity and idiocy of the masses the last thing I want when I get home is have to listen to more of the same nonsense online so given the option to not install MP at all would be much better then having to tolerate its existence on my hard drive because enough people like it to make it profitable.

 

If other people like it fine YMMV however I see no reason if its as "optional" as claimed why I must install it on my Hard Drive to play a SP game.

Yeah, I've been gleefully gloating about the MP announcement because I know I will enjoy it, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with dislking MP and refusing to touch it. I am that way myself with many thinigs, refuse to try them or get involved in them because I just don't want to, and no one should ever question me or give me crap for that particular aspect. Arguing about misanthropy when some people don't want to touch MP is unnecessary and a bit insulting.

 

Ripping apart the more ridiculous and stupid arguments, that's fair game though.

Honestly I may grouse but I'm happy for you MP peeps. I do hope you enjoy yourselves it sounds like the devs put a lot of TLC into the mode And yeah agreed.

It's part of the game. Much like the dalish elf and other voices for the protags. Just because you don't use them doesn't mean they aren't installed. MP uses SP assets and the two being seperate downloads is a waste of time and bandwidth when you can easily solve the issue by simply not clicking on the MP button.

 

I mean I'm completely on your side in regards to the not playing MP thing. But this is something easily avoided. And yeah it sucks your harddrive space is wasted but it's wasted on other stuff in the SP game you're probably not going to use. The devs aren't going to remove it because it's impractical.

 

There's really no point in getting upset. Its there today, it'll be there tomorrow, it'll be there next year no matter how angry you get.

If MP had been an established part of Dragon Age then I'd let it slide without a fuss all the other stuff is an established part of the Franchise they are all either part of the lore or essential to the immersion of the lore MP isn't otherwise they would have come up with something better then the weak "your an agent of the inquisition" sub plot maybe i'd be more accepting of it if more effort had been put into it but as it stands right now its just a blunt way of putting in micro transactions even though I have no intention of using it I'd rather if it where to be included to have an actual purpose besides a thinly veiled store.

Yeah it's stupid on both sides. The "OMG you only play MP? Go play CoD!" people aren't any better. I'm happy I hit the point where as long as they're not negatively influencing one another I don't care. I wasn't like that originally but seriously it's not just worth it. Not over easily ignored extra modes.

A side co-op campaign would be cool.

 

For me anyway the only way I'd really enjoy a coop like that is if both players were equally the protagonist.

 

Though I'm kind of amused thinking of how that'd work with stuff like romances and dialogue choices and decisions XD maybe there could be a duel mini game everytime you butt heads. It'd probably be a programming nightmare though.
