From the article:

"You have four active skills (as opposed to eight in single-player), with the shift button giving you access to your potions mapped to the face buttons. "

Holy crap is that ever improved from Mass Effect putting that ish on the Dpad

Wait, what? Console DA2 didn't have the animation delay? Why not?

That delay was an important (and annoying) part of the game design.

The console did have the delay, but only if you enabled auto-attack (from what I understand). I have seen console gameplay videos where the delay on the third attack of the combo did not happen.

My guess is that on PC, the code was set up to basically cycle between combos, and would only cast at the end of a cycle, before the start of a new one.

Except that the console is not point and click auto-attack. The PC UI in DA2 turned the combo into an auto-attack but that had a latency problem because it locked you into the last animation of the combo (unlike consoles) which made the necessary telegraphed dodging for certain boss fights harder to execute.

The base combat in DA2 was console, with certain changes made to make the PC gameplay look closer to DA2 with shortcomings. While it was one thing to handwave away problems for the PC gameplay because of the short dev time for DA2, the same problems in DAI are far less excusable.

Yes it is. Have you even played the console versions of DAO and da2? You use the right thumb stick to highlight who you want to attack and press a or an ability to attack. You can even click were you want to walk to. The console version just allow you to manual walk your pc as well. da2 also has auto attack. It sounds like you have not played the console versions.

I remember the delay was escapable in the demo, but BioWare said that was a bug.

Random thought - is the Jar of Bees available for all MP characters?

I put this in the other MP thread, so I'll post it here as well. This is in response to possible Darkspawn or Wild Animal factions in MP.

I think the Factions are more supposed to be 'intelligent' and political entities actively working against the Inquisition. Darkspawn are not organized beyond all being tainted, without an Archdemon to control them they are mostly mindless, forming relatively small war bands. Wild Animals of course aren't a faction at all.

Having said that, it would be cool if some of the 'modules' in each campaign contain different enemies. For example, maybe one module in the Red Templar campaign has a cave with spiders or bears or something like that to fight through. Or maybe the Venatori will have darkspawn infesting a secret route into the castle, so one of the modules has the team fighting darkspawn. There is no need to limit each campaign to a single faction's npcs only, they can add random fluff encounters (bears and spiders and darkspawn and ogres and anything else their heart desires).

Well, since the MP mode focuses on Loot, I would imagine you have to acquire potions and such.

Or do you mean class restricted?

Not sure on that, but we did see a Warrior use Antivan Fire in the PAX demo last year.

There crows left? Aren't the state of the crows in too much disarray to state if they will be friend or foe?

I'd still like to know how loot works when there are multiple players of the same class.  If we find a mage staff, do both mage players receive 1 in their inventory or is there a system that gives it to 1 and not the other somehow?

I think each player gets their own version of loot, and gold is shared between all players.

They've already said the enemy factions are demons, Red Templars and Venatori.

More might come later, but I don't think there's enough variety to make the Crows into a full one.

They could be an event in between fighting the campaigns main enemies. Would be a cool deviation.

So, Cerberus, the geth, and reapers. Later super bees in the eyes reapers?

In response to that, I don't think it's necessarily true that Darkspawn can't be organized.  Awakening was all about the behavior of Darkspawn and how they were becoming organized thanks to the Architect.  It's possible lore may include more Darkspawn like him.

Beyond that, I also don't think they have to be organized at all really.  It's like the Reapers from ME3.  They're not particularly organized on the ground, there are only different tiers of enemies that come at you full force.

That'd be my ideal method I think.  Wasn't really a fan of the dice roll system.

Dragon Age Multiplayer Mode...

http://www.dragonage...-mode-announced

aug27-blog-post-header.jpg

From Scylla Costa, Dragon Age: Inquisition producer.

We are very happy and excited to announce that Dragon Age: Inquisition will have a multiplayer mode! Separate from the massive single-player campaign, Dragon Age multiplayer is a four-player co-op dungeon-crawling adventure is set in the world of Thedas during the Inquisition. So, invite your friends and be ready to play your role in this tactical and action-paced game mode. Dragon Age multiplayer will have a deep crafting system, many different types of potions, twelve different characters and, of course, a variety of strong and challenging foes.

If you are going to attend PAX Prime 2014 in Seattle (August 29-September 1), drop by the Microsoft booth (412, 422, 432) and play Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer with support from our developers. If you want to know even more about this mode, you can also attend one of our panels at the PAX BioWare Base. We have also prepared a quick multiplayer FAQ that you can access here.

Gather your friends before venturing forth!

Just one thing that I remembered in regard to my earlier post about micro transactions I recall very recently MT's so badly done in a mobile game that it was P2W that even ended the TV add for said mobile game claiming that it was F2P being banned from being aired in the UK by Court Order on the grounds that it was intentionally misleading........dare I say  cough Dungeon Keeper cough I mean it wasn't something done by EA right?.......oh wait.

Oh, calm down. BioWare != EA. ME3's multiplayer was nowhere near P2W, and DAMP seems to be following the same path as ME3.

I know about the microtransaction sh*tfest that was Dungeon Keeper. How is this relevant to DAMP in any way?

Oh I don't know something to do with free content and the option to buy in game currency with real money that is "totally optional".........now where have I heard that same idea recently? oh yeah DAI, I mean I'm sure its just mere coincidence that EA is involved in both right ? its even mentioned in the recent Forbes article about DAMP strange how Gamespot/IGN etc haven't even mentioned this odd coincidence.
