I wanna see if I got the salient bits:
- MP and SP are completely separated storyline wise, ie none of the ME3 war readiness BS.
- you can buy everything with either the loot you harvest in game or with RL cash but EVERYTHING is accessible with either.
- it's co-op so you can't really play on your own.
- multiple classes with various pros and cons.
With ME3's multiplayer I know the devs explained the SP and MP were developed on separate budgets meaning the whole thing of "yes but they could have used the resources to make the SP better!" wasn't really valid. Presumably the same is true here. So what's with the whinging?

1. My crayons are orange
2. A leopard changes its sports....when you skin it
3. Why does there always have to be a 3?
1.Sorry its rose tinted crayons,Orange ones require 50 billion hours of grind play or you can purchase some "Totally Optional" $60 of in game currency to get them now
2.Knives cost 1 Trillion in game gold which will take you 2 years to earn in game or you can buy some more "totally optional" platinum coins and get the knife now.
3. Don't you know that 3 is the magic number?....... I mean come on please!

Unlikely this is EA after all and a leopard never changes its spots, once caught forever suspect and when they are caught again and again and again.......shall i draw you a flip book? with pictures ? you can color it in with rose tinted crayons later if you like.
Wow you are very angry about this whole MP but I would say either don't play it or wait and see. I played ME3 MP and yes you could pay to advance more quickly you didn't have to and I had the choice if I wanted to spend my money or not. If a game forces you to pay to advance then I wouldn't both playin it but I have the choice. I enjoyed ME3 MP even though I wasn't sure I would not being the strongest player but I got much better over time. I'm going to give this one a go as well. I think that Bioware is in the business to make money but they are in a business that people have a lot of choice in how they want to spend their money so if they don't make something people want then they won't spend the money to buy the game and Bioware won't be in business. I've liked their games for a long time now and until I don't I will buy their games but again that is my choice. I expect you are just trolling and eventually people will just get back to talking about MP in a more positive way.

Yep, this is all correct.
Technically you can play by yourself, but it'll be very difficult. You'll also be locked out of two-thirds of the loot areas, since they require the other classes as teammates to access.

Multplayer... First response: Well, crap.
This explains almost everything I don't like about the game from a gameplay standpoint. It doesn't have to, but it does, because they went with the ME3 model of controlling individual characters in short co-op arenas. So that's the push buttony basic combat mechanics on a character level. That's the extra flashy 'combat sparkles' special move animation. That's the 8 active talent limit, to support specific mp character builds. Most important to me, that's the choice to not have synched combat animation cycles, and to not really support passive dodge/parry/block and other heavily stat influenced basic combat mechanics. That explains the unwillingness to reverse course on the weapon class restrictions and anything that generally doesn't work as well to differentiate specific mp action combat roles.
They should have gone with a multiplayer system designed around party management, or 'Origins style combat' as it's been referred. That's what's fun and unique about DA combat. That's where the tactics and management come in. (That doesn't mean slow.) This isn't Mass Effect. It shouldn't really be an action game. It should just look even better. You embrace that design philosophy, and there's no reason it shouldn't play better, allow more freedom of playstyle, and approach cutscene quality visual style all at the same time. Single player could be the best it could be, and multiplayer would be unique party vs. party or co-op parties in pve. But they went the wrong way. There's not much I expect to like with this direction honestly, and it's significantly holding the single player mechanics and visual style back imo.
I expect to love DA:I and the single player gameplay for the most part, but it's in spite of what I see as a lot of unnecessary and damaging limitations I see as a result mostly of the direction they went with multiplayer. It could be a lot better, both the sp and mp. Oh well. There's still so much positive about the game.

My apologies I missed the part where pointing out that the parent company of the Developer making this game recently had a TV advert for a franchise in which they made the exact same claims about the micro transactions being "totally optional" banned by court order after the investigation found out they had intentionally mislead people about the premium currency being totally optional was not permitted and considered trolling.
Maybe the OP should change the title to DAMP( no negativity permitted no matter how truthful its makes us DAMP Fans cry).

I assume so, yeah. That would explain why they haven't announced them officially before now.
Mike said he didn't know, though, so I assume it's Marketing's responsibility.
But ME3's CE had the same thing, it included a few codes for extra MP gear packs. I think it was called "Starter Pack" or something.

This entire post is pretty much the best take on it I've seen. Agree 100%.
I'd hoped it was going to move more (well, back) into RPG territory than what DA2 allowed, but this is moving even farther along that same direction. It's like they're just not willing to admit the flaws that game had in a gameplay sense and are plowing full-steam ahead with the same mentality.

Whoohoo !!!!
Solo confirmed !!!
(calming down)
The Mike Laidlaw quote was to the question: Can you play 3 or 2? Yes but it will be harder (so that confirmed less but not one).
I'd not actually seen solo confirmed and I was worried that breaking a wall or opening a lock would break the possibility,
but I'm thinking now that class based access is for loot areas not crawling access to the campaign.
I like to 'try out' new equipment or builds in solo even if I die quite quickly, so I don't have to be the goofy noob with a new toy in public.
And to occasionally try to solo is a challenge.
My Gold ME3MP solos took (sad admission) 1h 40m and 1h 20m respectively. An awful lot of taking pot shots and running away ![]()
Will be interesting to see what a hard solo in DAMP would require.

Amazing just how fast they're going to bat for Bioware on this, almost like they knew the fanbase was going to call them on the carpet the second it was announced.
Gotta love that "You're wrong if you don't like it!" mentality.

I wonder how exotic the dlc kits will get over time. When DAMP's version of 'Reckoning' comes out, for example, I bet we end up with 'Fade Spirit Rogue' 'Troll Warrior,' and 'Awakened Emissary Mage.'

Yeah, it would make no sense to have progression through the level depend on having the right class choices.
I'm sure there'll be teams of players who want to roleplay as all Katari or something, and I don't think it's sensible to block them off.
(The game will be harder just like ME3 was, but it should still be possible. Class combos should be rewarding, but not mandatory IMO.)

Hmmm... "awakened" darkspawn would not, actually, be that strange. In DA:A, they clearly showed us Darkspawn can be as sentient as any other inhabitant of Thedas, so "Why not ?" ^^ After all, Darkspawn don't appear to be the main antagonist in DA:I.

Yeah I know right I mean its not like major gaming magazines give a "game of the year" award to a unfinished game 6 months away from release based on nothing more then a 2 minute gameplay clip oh wait........its yet another journalist making hyperbolic BS statements after chugging down too much free EA Champers no different to the fake journalism of IGN and Gamespot
