Was expecting a mindless carbon copy dungeon crawler, but reading the article, it appears BW has put some thought into making it innovative enough to be considered something that could belong to the DA series.

I was curious and know you may have my attention. Will be following this part and hopefully it turns out great for them.

Also party banter between the characters and free DLC is always nice.

I can't say I was particularly thrilled to hear of multiplayer, but Mass Effect was good fun and Inquisition is definitely doing some fun and interesting things, so I'll be sure to check it out. I like loot, and the characters being actual characters with banter as opposed to "Human Solder" with the occasional "Atlas!" is neat.

Does affect any of the single player story? I.e. Strength of the Inquisition to get better outcomes for ending/or other plots

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw

Nope. No story impact, aside from themes.

Presumably he means you're playing as part of the Inquisition's army, so the same overarching story that exists in the SP will be the one we're experiencing in the MP.

Ignoring the marketing speak... it looks like the crappy ME3 Horde Mode.

And as with ME3 we should now question the promised quality of the single player. Because of the multiplayer there is no need for a good singleplayer to turn the game into a financial success, as ME3 proved.

It doesn't sound too bad with the way they've done it. Community challenges were some of the best parts of ME3 MP, so I'll have to play them at least. Just join some Bronze or the DA equivalent PUGS, and probably get kicked right after. LOL

I'll give it a go to see what it's like, but if the SP game is as vast as they say, it'll be hard to dedicate the time required to the MP side.

"Looks like the crappy ME3 Horde mode"

1.) Just because you didnt enjoy the multiplayer doesnt mean it wasnt a hit among fans

2.)Did you just decide to ignore the article telling exactly why its not a horde mode, in order to comfortably criticize something you know very little about?

1. Just because it was popular, doesn't mean it's good.

2. Don't insult me. I read the article. Surviving in some location, to get money. That's the same principle.

This on going theme is just so wrong.  I won't try and convince you other wise but how anyone can pin the ills of ME3 on mp beyond the one single gaff of one ending scene I have no idea whatsoever.  It makes zero sense at all.

Typical, make a a few very insulting comments then get feelings hurt when someone responds.  So many people on forums can dish it out but can't take it at all.

So because YOU deem it bad, everyone elses opinion is invalid?

Im not insulting you, you just clearly dont know what the mode is offering since you compared it to ME3's horde mode which its not like at all (not to mention you just insulted anyone who enjoyed the multiplayer making you a hypocrite). Theres a video showing exactly why thats the case.

Stating facts is not insulting.
Unfounded accusations are insulting.

Yes... From a media standpoint, that is EXACTLY what it means. Just because it doesn't live up to your "refiend tastes" doesn't mean it was NOT good. It just means it wasn't for you. However, if the majority of the players had a good time playing it, then it WAS a good piece of entertainment.

Does this mean that diablo is just a horde mode with a story attached?

People rationalize what they want in order to make sense of the crazy world. For some people its easier to accept that ME3 was intentionally made bad so that good ending dlc could be sold and a big old conspiracy made about it. For others they think the game was bad intentionally, but because the people working on it wanted to torch the franchise and run, and then stayed around because reasons. And then you have these guys who think ME3 was bad because the multiplayer component brought a pox upon their houses.

I think ME3 was bad because the writing was bad, and there weren't enough checks in place for people to say that the ideas weren't good, because everyone was working too closely on the same wavelength.

About the only thing multiplayer did was keep the mass effect franchise alive during the year and a half of crap hurled its way.
