MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

BioWare has announced that the forums will be locked down into a read-only state on Friday, August 26th and will be deleted entirely on Tuesday, October 25th. This means that the current Resource Library here, along with all the links contained within it, will no longer be available.

We have done what we can to archive them in a safe place. While we do not have the space to host all pages of all linked threads, we have recreated the Resource Library and the first pages of all the linked threads (for the most part, all the important information is contained within the first page and/or original post of each linked thread).

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS TO THE FOLLOWING URL IF YOU WISH TO ACCESS THIS LIBRARY AFTER OCTOBER 25TH: The New Off-Site Home of The Unofficial DAIMP Resource Library

If you wish to download a local copy of the Resource Library, a zip file can be found at the following URL: Link to webpage

If you wish to continue discussion of DAIMP or any future BioWare games, the vast majority of us have moved on to the BSN Unofficial Forums. We also have the current, off-site Resource Library links housed there.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you all... here, at the end of all things. I hope to see you on the other side.

Much like The ME3MP Resource Library, this thread is meant to be a comprehensive link listing of all the best DAIMP threads that detail helpful knowledge, a good reference point for new players and veteran players alike. Unfortunately, we thought of this very late for ME3MP and so we had almost two years’ worth of great threads lost in the abyss for us to try and gather. We resolved that this time, we’d stay out in front of the helpful threads before they’d have a chance to disappear into the nether.

Feel free to alert me if I have missed any obvious ones so that I may review them for addition to this compendium. And definitely feel free to drop any new links in here for consideration as well.

Could you quote me a source? I apologize, but so much info has dropped everywhere so it'll take me some time to gather everything. Would love to link sources in the OP. :)

I think it was a line in the ign article. Guy mentioned the Alchemist armor was gotten, and he got that character, it was also a line in the faq.
Can't really remember about the banter. Sorry OP.

IDK if this falls under the stuff you'd like to list but I've started a DA MP group here for people to find others to play with on their preferred platform as well as discuss anything else MP related as they like.  30 people so far and hopefully growing fast.

Reavers are female.
Reavers will eat your face.
Reavers are the best.
Reavers can solo the game on the hardest difficulty.
Reavers will pwn all the lesser classes.
If start a match with four Reavers, the enemies just collapse before you and beg for mercy. You win automatically.

User
Question: Are MP characters' genders fixed, or are there male/female options for each character?

Mike Laidlaw ‏@Mike_Laidlaw
They are characters, so their genders are fixed, but there are men and women warriors, for instance.

You can romance/kill other players, only if they use Reavers.

So that right there is already a win for 70% of BSN

The IGN article does actually have a little blurb about the characters bantering among themselves if you're still looking for the source. It's the paragraph right above the first posted picture, sixth paragraph down I believe.

Last line of it says: BioWare didn’t want templatized, boring heroes lacking personalities. "They’re kind of like mini followers, and they banter among themselves."

Thanks! I was literally just now getting a good chance to slowly read through that article and pick out the main points, and found it about the same time you did!

Let me know if there's anything else I missed or feel free to throw any new articles at me as they pop up. I'll try to be on the look out, but work will surely distract me tomorrow when a lot of stuff goes to print. :P

Also, OP is rearranged to make more sense now. :)

No problem, happy to help! I'll try to keep an eye out when I can for new articles and be sure let you know if I don't see them here already. :)

Also, I like the new arrangement of the OP, it's easier to find specific info too.

I excited for the party banter and I have a question, do we create our multiplayer characters like in ME3 or do we just choose a character and play?

It looks like we choose a premade character, ie reaver is a unique character as well as a class, and there is an Alchemist that is the same. Read the things several times, there's a lot ,so we keep missing details.

I've found a few things in the FAQ and IGN article not yet listed here (at least not at the time I'm writing this, you could be changing it as I type.) While they're not all necessarily crucial information, I find them interesting nonetheless.

FAQ

  • Crafting has some overlapping recipes between SP and MP, as well as some that are exclusive to one mode or the other.
  • The MP characters are the agents of the three specialists in SP, and one of the specialists will explain the goal of the mission.

IGN Article

  • Gold is shared among players (expected, but confirmation is nice)
  • Character icons, and banners are apparently back, along with "other cosmetics" and are unlocked with Personal Prestige accomplishments.
  • "When an ally goes down for good, enemies get stronger." (That actually sounds a little intimidating)

Ok that sounds cool, hopefully I like some of the characters then.

It's probably too early to tell, but has any of the devs stated what types of MP 'kits' they will be adding via DLC?

I know they said that additional characters would be added, but did they clarify what types are going to be added?

Obviously, things like a Fenris themed warrior, or a or a female version of a male character (or vis versa) is to be expected, but are we going to see things like previous specializations (i.e. Shapeshifter, or Blood Mage) making an appearance?

More importantly, can we expect to see MP characters that are not based on one of the four SP races, things like fantasy creatures that have been shown capable of working with the PC in previous games?

So far the MP looks amazing and I can't wait to play it, but if BioWare can add in character 'kits' like a Mabari war hound, or Grand Sylvan, or Masterwork Golem, or Awakened Disciple then DAMP would be absolutely perfect (IMO).

ME 3's MP was incredibly entertaining, but some of the kits just felt like unnecessary filler (IMO) nothing as varied as the original Geth and Batarian kits in the Resurgence DLC, or as unique as the Volus and Geth Juggernaut kits. DAMP looks to be expanding on and improving on everything ME 3's MP did right, and I really hope that non-human (in my case I consider Elves, Dwarves, and Qunari to be human) creatures are a part of that expansion.  :)

Yeah, I quoted it since while that is exactly what it says in the IGN article, there are a couple inconsistencies between it and the FAQ (mostly just regarding characters, but still) and I'm not sure if it was maybe just perceived as them getting stronger, or they really do. It'll definitely make things more interesting if that is the case.

While it hasn't been directly stated anywhere to my knowledge, I'm assuming that any extra characters/races will be limited to humanoid due to animation restrictions. If I recall correctly, I believe that's why the Hanar and Elcor were left out of ME3 MP but not the Volus, I'd imagine it's much easier to shrink an existing model and make it fit the current animations than it is to create an entirely new one. That's not to say it wouldn't be cool to play something like a Mabari, just that it sadly isn't likely. :(

I am still holding out hope for non-humanoid classes.  ;)

BioWare has said that both SP and MP were developed alongside each other, and I can easily see a SP DLC being used as the stepping stone to add new things to MP. For example, BioWare has said that the Inquisitor will not be getting a Mabari in DA:I, but popularity among the fans is sure to at least garner some appearance of the dogs at some point in the future; most likely in a DLC. If this is the case then bringing those assets into MP wouldn't be as time consuming as creating the assets from scratch specifically for DAMP.

We already have a president set for things like this with the Turian female becoming available in MP after Nereen's appearance in the Omega DLC. Granted, the Turian female was a humanoid character, but DA:I has shown itself to be both bigger and more in-depth than it's science fiction counter-part. Plus we have had things like Mabari as companions in previous games, so non-humanoid animation for major characters is not something entirely outside of BioWare's capabilities.

Also consider that the Frostbite 3 engine is universally used by EA's developers; with different teams being able to pull assets, animations, effects, etc. from completely different games, and still have them work; so there is bound to be at least some collaborative effort in bringing elements that would have been too complicated to produce by just one team into DA:I.

In fact, the interchangeable nature of having a common game engine has me really excited for the upcoming ME game as well, especially when BioWare has stated that they are planing to use DA:I as a foundation for future games; maybe with all of that time and effort saved, we can finally see playable Elcor and Rachni (my favorite alien species of the setting) in ME:Next's MP.  :)

Qunari warrior

elven mage

dwarven rogue

ect
