What other people have said OP, going on a diet is not a bad thing in itself. It's just that many people associate it with eating nothing, or eating very little(as I saw an ex girlfriend do before) and that definitely isn't healthy for you.

Personally when I needed to lose weight, I cut out a lot of the junk food and replaced it with healthier alternatives. I also started playing some sports with my friends after work and on the weekends. Not long, maybe like an hour or so a day. Honestly that's all I did and it helped me a lot. All these years later I'm actually pretty fit. I know that everyone is different, and I'm not an expert in this obviously. But still in my personal experience that helped.

There isn't really a way that you metabolism just "gets a boost" and burns fat. If you're really looking to lose weight while giving your metabolism a kick while you're at it is diet and exercise. Sounds typical, but it's true.

See, what causes weight gain is taking more carbohydrates than you're actually burning off. Common misconception: Eating fatty things like bacon, pork, greasy burgers, etc doesn't really make you fat. It can just screw up your arteries among other things if you eat too much of it.

Things like pasta, rice, bread, sugar, and potatoes is what turns into fat when you don't hardly move.

A few years ago I had an accident and I was in the hospital for about 2 weeks, and after I was released I still had to be on bed rest. Did put on about 30lbs (13.6kgs), give or take.

Now this is just me, but I'm a bit of a health freak and I workout about an hour and half to 2 hours a day. Except on Sundays, those are recovery days.

So when I was all healed up, I had to do something about the extra weight. So I completely cut carbs out of my diet. Mostly ate meat and veggies, sometimes fruit.

Carbohydrates is what gives your body energy, it's what it burns throughout the whole day. Even when you're sleeping your body burns carbs, the brain burns more calories and carbohydrates than you might assume. So when you take 90% of the those carbs away, you're body is like, "Oh snap! We're not getting anything to burn, what shall we do!? Hey, what about this stored energy?" That stored energy was once carbohydrates that never got burned off thus it was stored as fat. So as you refuse your body carbs, it burns through that extra fat.

I lost 35lbs (15.8.kgs) in about 4 and half weeks.

And in fact, I had bacon and eggs for breakfast everyday of that month.

For some people, cutting carbs out like that is a bit extreme, so another way is portion control. Don't pile on your plate, only take in what you need. The key is to burn more than you take in. Doing any kind of diet and exercise takes determination, confidence and willpower.

Putting your body through that and working it out will boost our metabolism. Also eating almonds, spicy foods and green peas will also help give it a boost as well.

Moral of the post: Whatever dumbfcuk told you that bacon isn't good for is a dumbfcuk.

Too much of anything isn't good for you. Something called moderation.

Bacon is actually loaded with about 37 grams of good protein, selenium, phosphorus. As well as a decent amounts of the minerals iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium. Also vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12. Bacon is a bit high in sodium and can make your cholesterol go up as well, but if you're smart and know your foods then you can easily balance it out. And also what I said, moderation.

I agree that there's more to being healthy than just losing weight though. After you've lost the weight it's about maintaining your body and it's needs. And you also gotta remember that everyone is different.

All in all, having bacon every now and then isn't going to kill you. Everything is harmful to you if you don't watch how much you take in.

Is that Johnnie Walker's home video? It's strange Bacon is one of those things that I agree can be really delicious, but I could go forever without missing it either. Which bodes well for my plan to be a vegetarian

I for one can say there's few things worse than living with two crazy female vegeterians who try to dictate how whole damn household should eat.

I used to say vegetarians were racist plant genocidists and thought I was so clever. But it turns out meat production uses way more plants than just eating it yourselves.

We could always live off fruits. They're like the one thing that wants to be eaten.

Take a cycle of winny brah, tbol dbol wbol bbol ffolb oifjafh

Nah.

Just exercise and diet.

That's the only way to get your metabolism up.

Oh, and really eat 4-6 small meals a day.

It's the only way to do it.

And even if you take performance enhancing drugs, you'll still need to do it.

It just goes by quicker.

But eat well, not 4-6 McNuggets a day. I mean a good diet.

If you're aiming for body building, that's where things get more complicated with macros nd crap.

But for now, just that.

...That's not really a misconception, though. Fatty things contain energy just like everything else (more of it, in fact). Eat too much of it, and you will gain weight just the same. If low carb diets succeed, which they sometimes do, it's more than likely because of the overall lower caloric intake caused by cutting out what is normally ~60% of the calories from your diet... it's hard to compensate for all of that with more meat, especially lean meat like those diets recommend.

Moderation in everything is important, though I wouldn't call low-carb the best choice for a "moderate" diet. And I wouldn't advise moderation if the thing in question happens to be poison like arsenic or bacon.

Bacon is too fatty and soft. Beef is the true food of the Champions.
