Bacon is too fatty and soft. Beef is the true food of the Champions.
You're doing it wrong. Cripsy man!!

I used to say vegetarians were racist plant genocidists and thought I was so clever. But it turns out meat production uses way more plants than just eating it yourselves.
We could always live off fruits. They're like the one thing that wants to be eaten.
I for one eat what tastes good. Life is meant to enjoyed!
Mmmm!
...That's not really a misconception, though. Fatty things contain energy just like everything else (more of it, in fact). Eat too much of it, and you will gain weight just the same. If low carb diets succeed, which they sometimes do, it's more than likely because of the overall lower caloric intake caused by cutting out what is normally ~60% of the calories from your diet... it's hard to compensate for all of that with more meat, especially lean meat like those diets recommend.
Moderation in everything is important, though I wouldn't call low-carb the best choice for a "moderate" diet. And I wouldn't advise moderation if the thing in question happens to be poison like arsenic or bacon.
That's not what I meant. I mean that a lot of people assume that only eating fat makes you fat. It doesn't. Carbohydrates are the sole source of it 90% of the time. I cannot tell you how many idiots think that going on an all potato diet is going to help them loose weight because potatoes have no fat in them. Or "I need to loose some weight so I'm going to stop eating fatty foods and just make up for it with eating more rice instead". I use to personal train people from time to time and they would tell me these "brilliant ideas" on what their diet was going to be.
And a low carb diet is just one of many ways to loose weight. It's not for everyone. People are different.
But what all diets should have in common is to burn more than you take in. That is the absolutely key to loosing weight. Count your carbs, calories, and other sources of nutrition. Do research on what exactly you need. And I cannot stress how much hydrating will help give your body an extra boost. Drinking about 8-10 glasses of water a day can really make an improvement.

Ah, I agree with all of that. Diets that just cut fat aren't any better than the ones that just cut carbs. Actually, controlling for calories, I believe the ones that cut carbs may show slightly more results in terms of weight loss. (but they both do, since the key really is energy, regardless of where it comes from)
Personally I think the most sensible thing is just to eat a balanced diet, but less of it, if someone wants to lose weight the healthiest way. People don't like hearing that because it sounds difficult and unappetizing, but if you're gonna have to cut the intake one way or another... I don't see the point of trying to find some trick of getting around it.
Although one that has been getting some traction in terms of both health benefits and weight loss has been the mediterranean diet, which as far as I can tell is basically just a balanced diet with emphasis on fiber and 'good' fats. (monounsaturated in particular)

Well the animals we put in ourselves haven't really had an enjoyable life.

But they are some of the most successful animals on the planet now thanks to the temporary protection we give them before we kill them and eat them.
Lose = to fail or misplace something
Loose = poorly connected or insignificant; i.e. loose change
I like where this thread is going.

Well the animals we put in ourselves haven't really had an enjoyable life.
>implying anyone has an enjoyable life
I don't understand why do you think no one enjoys life. Animals who can't even turn around or walk a step in their short existence certainly don't though.
Pleasure and justice are relative terms
Not to get too deep before the cocktail hour, but do I need to remind you of the finite nature of life?
Life is a black, sucking, vortex of anguish and despair, filled with brief moments of false hope and empty joy, all the while dragging you inevitably closer to final, absolute, and eternal death.
The finite nature of life is what makes it worth living. If I had forever to do things I would put off doing everything.
But yea, I do kinda wish death wasn't eternal though. Like reincarnation or heaven and hell would be some pretty sick ****

Don't worry, a couple of billion years after the big crunch, you'll get to live exactly the same life, all over again.

Bobo knows.
Knowing that the macrocosm is infinitely massive and repeats itself over time, perhaps we could open a portal to the other side of the universe by mastering and manipulating the fabrication of quantum physics thus extracting the subatomic particles of atoms that construct the universe. Mayhaps then the life we all know will be flipped around.
Ofc we could be mathematically incorrect about where to rip open the space-time continuum, thus we end up causing fire molten void to burst into our very own world.
Moral of the story, we're all going to die. One way or another.
There's a difference between doing what you have to do to get through life and enjoying life.
It's better to be a delighted pessimist than a disappointed optimist.
And I can't smash up my games. Because I have Steam. Cause I'm not a filthy causal.

Well, you see, I totally would try that, but then my daughter and her other selves from across the multiverse would have to drown me in a pond to prevent me from founding a Tea Party-friendly flying city. Wouldn't work out too well for me in the grand scheme of things.

Yea... and playing games and eating chocolate isn't something you have to do to get through life...
In fact lots of people would rather risk their very lives in order to enjoy it.
What does this even have to do with pessimism? And obviously, a delighted pessimist is someone who is enjoying themselves.
Is this seriously an attempt to justify eating meat? I mean I'm not stopping anyone from eating meat, but there's really no way to paint it as a good thing. Unless you stick to strictly eating roadkill, pests and man eating animals.

Jesus ate meat, so there's no way it can't be a good thing. Checkmate, vegetarians.

This thread makes me feel better about myself as a person. So I guess I'm enjoying life at the moment.

Yeah, but it would totes be the universe's Citizen Kane moment so for the good of science journalists everywhere, you must do it.
