I just wanted to post at least once in this thread before it gets locked.

2 pts for your honesty

While I do agree that it's totally uncool to perpetually see images of dead women as accessories in fashion media and game ads as a trope I don't really also want to sit around picking apart every game I play with her attitude. I'm a feminist, a woman and a humanist. But I'd also like to tell her that this type of sex/violence porn attitude that is prevalent is bad for everyone. Not just women or girls but for boys and men for numerous very obvious reasons such as: being taught that it's ok to characterize males as evil rapists! There's at least one in every plot amirite? So if I were a dude I'd be pissed off about that.

But you know I have darkspawn to slay, loot to loot and the galaxy to save so whathefeckever.  :D

I don't take anything seriously from women whose eyebrows look like they were painted on with a Sharpie marker.

LOL. Harsh but true.

No. The sooner we begin ignoring this attention ******, the sooner she and her spin jobs become irrelevant.

End of the day it's all about the paper. All these internet psuedo-celebrities, talk show mother*******, both liberal and conservative don't give a flying **** about the **** they preach in their propaganda. It's all about how much money they can make off of hard working idiots that buy into their garbage. This Sarkeesian chick is cut from the same cloth and made by the same tailor. I can't knock the hustle, but don't lie to me and tell me it's not a hustle.

That's good b/c that's pretty much all she does since she's certainly not a gamer. All she does is spool through other people's let's play videos looking for whatever offends her so she can pontificate about it. It's not particularly well thought out or scholarly work in the least.

As for telling people that the things she sees is bad for everyone involved, it seems like she's more interested on how these things affect women than men.

If she insists on wasting the bandwidth on the Internet for her series, perhaps she should start actually playing the games rather than plagiarizing other Youtubers' footage for her research.

That would actually require interest in video games on her part. She's more interested in analyzing video games in the hopes that her research will be used in academia, even though much of her work doesn't meet any sort of standard academic rigor, is intellectually dishonest, and really just comes off as a half-assed research project at best.

Oh trust me, I know.  I've said it before, I don't care what she's doing, I care that she sucks at it and like you said, it's all very half-assed and she can't get points out without over generalizing.

There are tropes that annoy me a little in games, but I'm not going to waste my energy yelling about it and then write off a developer because they did one thing that the goddess-of-how-everything-should-be-done-in-video-games considers awful.  I just want to enjoy the game.

Back in the day and even today. They were feminist. Who truly cared about equality. Not just for woman. A competent woman should have equal pay and respect. Buit there's some stuff you can't change. We're equal, but different and sometime I feel those extreme feminist are just bitter of not being born with a ****.

Wow. It appears that most of the conversation here is more interested in dismissing her as a 'fake gamer' and attacking her as a woman.

This thread shows EXACTLY why conversation like Anita's is necessary in the games industry.

It's okay for movies to portray real world things, it's not okay for games. That's what I gathered.

It's common knowledge that video games are the only media capable of shaping your thoughts.

Take Female tennis player. I just read an article about how ''Sexy'' these player are. If I was a professional tennis player. I would love that people talk more about my skill and how hard I've worked to make it there than the symmetry of my ass. That I understand. That I approve. That a feminist thing. Even if guy get often the same treatment and so many male actor might be in a movie because of their appearance and six pack. Same with woman.

But tennis player ? It's not a beauty contest. The day is see a professional tennis player with boob implant( To win hot tennis player contest) it's the day the world is doomed.

She's a rabble-rouser doing more harm than good, which is a shame. Not to mention she talks nonsense reeking of confirmation bias, which is apparent for anyone who walked near an academic discussion 101 class. Conversation is necessary, but a lot less like hers would be appreciated.

I think games deserve plenty of criticism, but I'd prefer it if they were gamers themselves. Being so harsh and from the outside just makes her out to be someone to destroy. Not improve games. Similar to some politicians and clergy.

When you state that you don't like video games and don't like playing them, it's going to be very biased and generalized. Which is what she does. Make a video about what you find well done or something.

Can you really blame her for not liking games, if this is the case, after seeing the clips in her videos? And yes, it's great to point out things that you think are well done, but on the other hand I think that it's important for things that you think aren't so well done to be pointed out so that them games can improve.

It's funny when you realise that most of the clips in her videos undermine the point she's trying to make.

umadcommander - What about the two above comments, in your opinion? Do you think that they would have been said if Anita was instead a man? Personally, I do not, and I'd be interested to hear what you think.

It's all about the cash for her but she and others like her are driving a wedge between the gamers and the industry, ie: journos, devs and publishers. It depresses me to see how many of the professionals either take her side or stay silent about her BS. I want the 90s back when we just played games and didn't worry about this crap.
